Thank you, Ginger, and crew for making mine and my boyfriend's anniversary dinner one to remember! We initially arrived during social hour on the patio. We started with the Alien Pool Party and Charred Sunset, both were delish! Round 2 included the Stomazzi (perfectly refreshing) and 1886 Old Fashioned. You can tell how much thought went into each specialty cocktail, from the syrups to the ice (ask your server why!). The crudo and corn ribs caught our eye and the Brad & butter service was recommended to us; we opted to try all 3 and I'm glad we did. It was a great was to get a taste of the kitchen's range. The bread & butter service was the highlight of the appetizers, warm and fresh bread paired with a sweet and savory butter made fresh daily! Ended up staying through dinner service and I'm glad we did! I tried the chef's special of red snapper, served with a smile ;) My boyfriend got the steak frites, which was a great pairing with his whiskey drinks. To top off our celebration, we got dessert (do yourself a favor and try anything made by their pastry chef!!), an espresso, and glass of bubbly. SO, so happy we made our way to the Raymond, a true gem!

This place is pretty cool! The decor feels historic. The Reuben pastrami sandwhich was yummy! We tried the Dulce de Leche Crème brûlée and wish we had more of it! Def recommend getting the Alien Pool Party.

Can I just say Wow! We went on Easter for dinner and took our mom and was slightly apprehensive as holidays can be a hit or miss. This was a hit! Service was amazing and our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. The Easter menu was broad enough and the food was delicious. We had the pasta and braised short ribs; both were delicious. I am a picky cocktail connoisseur as I make my own and all of these were fresh and flavorful with fresh ingredients from banana to pomegranate. Dessert was delicious with a lemon semi-freddo and bread pudding that amazingly not too sweet. Oh appetizers were the burrata which was phenomenal and shrimp ceviche; we also had the tots with sauces which the hubs loved because of the crunch and I thought meh they are tots. Will be back soon and highly recommend as the setting is lovely and the food was great.

Limited lunch menu on Saturday, but something for everyone. Dinner menu starts at 4pm. Love the outdoor seating. Always great service, cocktails and food (thanks to our server "Janet " for her suggestions Parking can be tricky- they have Valet but they get busy. Plenty of street parking and it's hard to locate from the street (look for the big green hedge)

We recently celebrated my mom's birthday at The Raymond. The patio was nice and toasty ~ perfect for a rainy day brunch. I ordered the most simple thing on the menu: Eggs Your Way ($18). You get 2 eggs, apple wood smoked bacon + crispy potatoes. My waiter asked if I wanted to add a side of bread, however I did a hard pass when I realized it's a cool $7 for the add-on. My entree was good, though bread would have made it better. The potatoes were potato-ing. No complaints here. Everyone else liked their entrees okay - mostly minor nuances that really altered the taste of the dish. For example, the tomatoes were mushy in the chicken ($7) Caesar salad ($19). For $26 bucks, you'd hope the quality control could have been a little better. The chipotle hollandaise on the crab cake benedict ($26) was very, very tangy and intrusive taste wise. Food aside, Saturday morning brunch service was not the biz. There was one single waiter for the entire outside patio. No fault to him of course, but it felt clearly understaffed. Service was painstakingly slow. Fine, but not. On the flip side, they take brunch resys via Opentable.

Few good things 1. Good ambiance. We were seated in outdoor patio. 2. Exceptionally good server. She was very friendly and welcoming as well as was patient and took time to talk and explain what's special about the place, about the food and about the cocktails. 3. The appetizers. The fried calamari was really exceptional .. it wasn't anything similar to the fried calamari's that we get in other restaurants. It looked different, tasted better .. The reason for 1 star The wagyu tomahawk .. It was a chef's special dish offered for a hefty price tag of $250 .. I have had my fair share of premium cuts including wagyu so was excited.. as usual we preferred it to be cooked medium rare .. when the server brought it before slicing, I noticed and asked why it looked burned on the outside . It was getting dark and we were sitting outside so I thought it could be my eyes .. however, when I got a slice of it, I knew it doesn't look anything close to wagyu at all .. it wasn't pink .. it was well done on the outside and blue on the inside .. the meat had no marbling and was bit chewy .. it didn't taste any better than the store bought steak cooked by a non chef .. A total rip off. We were terribly disappointed and informed about it to the server .. after a while, a manager showed up and asked about our concern... They offered a dessert as consolation (which is nothing compared to the rip off) and since we were there for a celebration, and we didn't want to ruin the spirit, we didn't pursue the concern on the Wagyu any further. Update I have decide to give 1 more star to my rating since the GM of Raymond called me to ask details about my feedback. Appreciate the effort for reaching out and showing genuine interest to make things better.

Came here for brunch and the food and service was great as always. I love the valet. They even take venmo in case you dont have cash. The outside patio is so cute and lush. The inside is beautiful. An upscale cozy vibe. Our server was lovely. We got the apple turnover for something sweet. So good! The Chantilly cream was delightful. The crab cake Benedict was soft and good flavor. The potatoes were burnt, dry, and had no flavor so I didn't even up eating those. Next time I will get something else as a substitute. The grilled truffle cheese panini was really good. Added crispy bacon! The potatoes on this dish werent burnt but the flavor was still lacking. Seemed unseasoned. The diet coke was a little flat and they had cardboard straws whoch jave really bad chemicalsin the glue. Im sure there are other options. Overall we will definitely be back!

First timer here and I knew I would love this place the second I arrived. It's like walking into a cozy home. This restaurant is so cute! We were seated near the fireplace and were taken care of by Jennifer. She was awesome!! Everyone we came across here was so friendly. Now for the food....everything was good! We started with the bread & butter. Bread had a nice crunch on the outside and soft on the inside, house made butters were yummy. Salad was fresh and good portion, steaks were cooked perfect! Will definitely be back.

dineLA menu at $65/person for three courses; optional $35/person wine pairing This was our first experience at The Raymond, and it was okay...could have been better. Our group of six was in on a busy night to partake in dineLA week. There was some confusion with orders, missed cocktails, and food/wine pairings were not served together, or the wrong wines came out with the food. Glassware was in short supply, and generally the service was below what I was expecting for this price range. Our waiter was new, very nice, but seemed a little lost at times. The manager did come by several times to assist and try to rectify the situation. We even got a visit at the end of the meal from Jesus R., Lead Chef, which was nice. One of our friends is a regular patron at The Raymond and he stated that they're known for their bar and cocktails, which didn't disappoint. The food was good, especially the appetizers, but I wasn't wowed by any of the entrees. The dineLA deal was reasonable, and I would give that another try. The restaurant itself is cozy, with several different indoor dining areas, and outdoor patio seating in the front, rear, and on the side. There's limited on street parking near the restaurant, however they do offer valet parking for $8.

This review is long overdue, but I still remember our Valentine's breakfast at The Raymond 1886 so vividly that it absolutely deserves a mention. We ordered the Crab Cake Benedict, Chilaquiles with braised short rib, and the Blueberry Pistachio Waffle, and each dish had something special about it. The Chilaquiles were rich and satisfying with braised short rib, a fried egg, salsa verde, fried tortillas, avocado, and sour cream -- a wonderful balance of flavors and textures. The Blueberry Pistachio Waffle was a standout for me. I loved everything about this waffle combination. The pistachios were such a nice touch and added a delicious texture that paired beautifully with the blueberries. One of the highlights of our visit was our seating. We were placed at the end of the outdoor area, and it almost felt like our own little private paradise. Surrounded by trees and flowers, it was peaceful, charming, and perfect for a relaxed Valentine's breakfast. Service was generally pleasant, though our waiter was a little slow checking in on us, and I believe our coffee may have been forgotten. It didn't ruin the experience, but it was noticeable. Overall, the food and ambiance made it a memorable morning, and the beautiful garden setting is something that really makes The Raymond 1886 special.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. Cozy and warm atmosphere inside. There is also outdoor seating - make sure you dress for the weather though. Both indoor and outdoor has this romantic vibes but i especially like the outdoor patio seating with the trees and bushes. There are three outdoor seating options with one have a fireplace. We didn't order appetizers and go right into entrees. Food portion is on the small side so i would recommend doing some appetizers to share. We tried the steak frites, spaghetti pomodoro, branzino and the 12 oz ribeye. The pasta here are fresh and handmade. So delicious! A delightful surprise. Other entrees are tasty too! Dessert choices are alright. Parking can be tricky cause this restaurant is somewhat tucked in. I usually just opt for valet ($8) for convenience sake. Or find parking along the narrow winding road. It is quite romantic to do a short walk on the path after dinner (and to burn some calories).

Always love the cozy ambiance here. Every table feels like you're in an intimate space with chic details. Parking is sometimes tricky here but we found a spot on the street. Service was excellent, from being greeted at the entrance to our attentive server all evening. I was thankful to get a table here at the last minute. Overall the entrees were good but our favorite was the fried calamari. We ate every morsel of it including the rice paper bowl it was served in.

How much is the corkage fee currently if we bring our own bottle of wine?

$35 corkage fee per bottle. Maximum 2 750ml bottles.

While we were there, the Manager suggested trying their Steakhouse across the parking lot. We forgot the name of that Steakhouse? We would like to try!?

    Is the patio pet friendly?

Yes, our main patio is pet friendly.

Do they do complementary birthday/candle desserts?

Yes, they provided a small dessert with candle.

Do they still hold happy hour?

    Yes! Right now, it's Tuesday-Friday from 4:00-5:30pm.

How is the parking situation here?

The parking situation is great. There’s street parking for free, they have two small lots and valet. I’ve never needed valet.

What's the corkage fee? $25 for ea bottle. 3 bottle max.

    Sorry. I don't know

I was gifted a gift certificate by someone who moved out of state. Is the gift certificate transferable since it's in the person who moved out of state name?

    Do they have high chairs?

    Yes

    Do they have high chairs?

    Yes

    What's the corkage cost?

    $15 to $25

Do you need reservations for lunch?

I would recommend it, as you never know how busy they will be and cannot guarantee you'll get a table especially weekends

What menu items are available for vegans?

The Impossible Burger. They have salads and steak fries. They make the taco vegan but it's plain.

Bar seating different from the main dining area? We plan on enjoying Happy Hour and transition to dinner.

    What time is happy hour?

    Happy Hour: Tuesday - Friday 4pm - 7pm

Would it be too cold to sit on the patio for dinner right now in December?

It's covered and pretty well insulated...in my opinion, it's an all year 'round patio!

Do they show the dodger game?

    They don't have TVs

Where is the designated parking area? Or is valet the only option?

If you drive up into the driveway, the only option is valet, which I believe is still $5. Otherwise, there's plenty of free street parking in the area.

Is the 1886 bar indoors or out? Since, Friday is suppose to be over 100*, outside would be too hot, but won't the inside be too warm as well?

My husband and I didn't have a reservation, but we were able to put our name in and got seated about an hour or so later. I was amazed as soon as I walked in the door! It's just floor to ceiling decorated with everything tiki. So many fun details and even interactive elements that turn on when a particular drink was ordered. That was probably my favorite part honestly. We ordered the Tiki Diablo, which is a large tiki drink with a flaming volcano. And yes it does have an interactive element. It was really good. Very fruity and strong, but not overly so. Service was excellent. Our waitress was on it and even waited to make sure my husband was back from the bathroom before lighting our drink on fire. We didn't try any food this time, but a lot of people were ordering the Hawaiian pizza. Do with that what you may. Will definitely be back ti try more drinks and food. I'm a second-generation Irish-American from New York, and St. Patrick's Day has always meant something in my family. Growing up it was about heritage, family, and a little joy. Now that I have two daughters of my own -- very Irish-looking girls who are proud of their roots -- I wanted them to experience some of that same Irish pub spirit. So on St. Patrick's Day 2025, I took them to Griffin's of Kinsale in South Pasadena. They were so excited to be there -- the decorations, the music, the feeling of a real Irish pub. For a moment I thought, this is going to be a great memory for them. We came early because it was a school night. The restaurant was busy -- which is understandable on St. Patrick's Day. I ordered three salmon dinners for my daughters and myself. The bill came to about $150. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Over an hour and a half. During that entire time: * No one warned us the kitchen was backed up when we ordered. * No one checked on our table. * No updates. * No communication at all. Had someone simply said "Just so you know, food may take an hour or more tonight," I could have made a different decision -- especially with two kids who had school the next morning. Instead we sat downstairs watching the clock while the evening disappeared. By the end of the night my daughters -- who had been so excited walking in -- were tired, hungry, and miserable. When I asked to speak with a manager, no one came. No explanation. No apology. Restaurants get slammed on holidays. Kitchens fall behind. That happens. But ignoring a table for 90 minutes -- especially a family with children -- isn't a busy night. It's bad management. What should have been a fun St. Patrick's Day memory for my daughters turned into a long, uncomfortable evening where we felt completely invisible. For a place that trades so heavily on Irish identity and hospitality, this was about as far from hospitality as you can get. Save your $150 and celebrate St. Patrick's Day somewhere that actually wants you there. And if management would like to explain how a family ends up waiting 90 minutes with no communication, I'd genuinely be interested to hear it.

However, it's next door to Edwin Mills by Equator. I met my lovely Sisters B here for Happy Hour. The place gives off friendly neighborhood dive bar vibes. Bartender Lou is fantastic! Friendly, upbeat, & attentive. 5 stars for him. The cleverly named cocktails incorporate unique ingredients such as Ube Syrup, Ube beer, & lime dust. Our drink order consisted of Don't Be a Prick, Moon Rocks, & Purple Peter Eater. Lou was kind enough to create a lovely mocktail for Ms. Hannah. The Purple Peter Eater is a picturesque drink that combines rum with Ube beer and gets its pretty hue from Ube Syrup. The Moon Rocks had a bit of a kick and is a tad on the sweet side. I really enjoyed the Don't Be a Prick, which was a tasty combo of Tequila, Prickly Pear Syrup, & Lime garnished with blueberries. The music can be a bit loud, but there is a quaint courtyard that is shared with adjacent restaurant Mills Alley if you prefer to sit outside. You can also order select food items from there as well. We sat inside and had a great time catching up. It's always a fun time when the Sisters B get together.

We came in around 6:30. They had just opened but the atmosphere was ready! Dark and moody with candles on the table, it was the perfect spot to grab a drink and catch up. Jeremy was our bartender and he was fantastic. Super chill and friendly and made us some amazing drinks based on a few preferences. Our "bartenders choice" drinks were amazing, so much so that our "drink to end the night" turned into two drinks and some appetizers. We ordered taquitos and mozzarella sticks. Overall all three of us ladies loved this place! We definitely plan to be back! Let Jeremy make you a drink - you won't regret it. He makes them custom for you and he definitely knows what he is doing. *they do ask for a password which you can request on their website... but I would do that 24-48 hours before you plan to visit. The interior has dark lounge lighting with tables throughout. I got the gotham standard manhattan ($16) which was strong and spirit forward. We came right when they opened so it was very empty, but the bartender mentioned it gets really packed and lively on weekends. If I came back and was able to guess the password I'd stop by when it's more energetic for a different vibe.

Grandma's Purse, which features miso-infused Suntory, butterscotch, and 5 spice, was surprisingly savory and not sweet. But everything I've had has been outstanding, even their mocktails. I really liked one of the new ones I had recently, which was called something like Grandma's House? I can't remember, but it was spiced and had a star anise as garnish. A bit on the pricier side, but probably because they use premium ingredients and such unique flavors combos. Love the neighborhood bar vibe. It's a welcoming little oasis in the urban jungle of Highland Park.

Had a dinner reservation with some girlfriends celebrating two of their birthdays. The restaurant itself isn't too big but it does a pack a nice punch. Cute patio out front that takes some of the sidewalks and streets. Plenty of heat lamps which helped with the chilly nights. We got seated at one of the tables on the patios which was nice. Didn't really utilize inside area except for the restroom which it's quite cute in there. The rooms were pretty well decorated and executed. Nice bar area too. Like mentioned, we got seated on the patio and the heat lamps were great. Down to the menus, it's quite limited on dishes. Seemed like there were more shared plates versus the entrees. Drinks, it was fairly decent with their cocktails and wine. Service at the beginning was great. The staff were amazing and very friendly. We didn't order right away as we were still waiting for the last one to show. But did start off with some drinks. It didn't take that long for the first round which was nice. Food wise, the shared plate was a mixture of everything. Some of the olives, which is exactly what it is. The Belgian fries, nice thick cut fries with shredded pecorino cheese and a nice aioli sauce. We ended up getting a second order of it. The albacore tuna crudo was a hit which was really tasty. Chili ginger relish, mint and shallot, can't go wrong with that. Lastly the meatballs, tasty and very great for sharing. Entrees, the pan seared sea bass which I loved. Portion is pretty tiny which also seemed like they were a shared plate. Almost tapas styled. Nice chimichurri sauce and a side salad. The chicken Milanese also with a side salad of arugula. Simple dish but quite tasty. One of the salads that was somewhat hyped up by the waitress but it was just a salad. Decent but nothing major to rave about...lol... also the confit oyster mushrooms was major hit. Something that simple but quite tasty. And lastly the pan con tomate, rustic sourdough with tomatoes and burrata. Tasty as well. Overall the meal was good. From there, the second round of drinks did take a long time to arrive and with then plates that we shared, trying to get someone to clear the plates was another thing. Took a long for someone to clear the table before more items came. Even when the entrees came, all the empty starter plates were still there. And if someone did clear the plates, some was still left on the table. Finishing off the night, we did have the dessert which we tried all three. As it was two of our girlfriends birthday, they brought out a little bubbly for us to celebrate with the dessert. That was quite sweet and nice. Honestly opinion with the dessert, they were just ok. Nothing major to rave about. We tried all three on the menu and they were just ok. Overall, the food was great. Service was nice and the staffs were all very friendly. It did take a while for plates to get cleared from the table and second round did take a while, but it was manageable. It was a sweet gesture with the bubbly with the dessert which was greatly appreciated. The place is nice and great for catching up. Menu is limited and portions are quite small. You would have to get a good amount for sharing. Entrees, depending on what you order is small as well. But we enjoyed ourself.

The front hostess was also phenomenal, I had reservation for outdoor seating but since she saw that the sun was like glaring, she asked if I wanted to change to inside. Very obliging and accommodating. Food: 5 stars, surprisingly good, right amount for us. I was full but I can see where other reviewers say portions are small. It's small if u're a heavy eater. But the quality is definitely there. Ambiance: trendy, high energy, casual vibes where u can lounge and have a beer while munching on fries...or u can choose to be poshy and have a glass of wine with a salad and Chilean sea bass. It's flexible to accommodate both as there are different sections. Parking: street metered 1 hour parking. 3 stars, not their fault but 1 hour is simply not enough. It can get super busy and the server can be pulled left and right, so cut them some slack during super busy hours. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended .

Because this is a hotel bar since it's situated in The Langham 5-star luxury hotel, the drinks are expensive like $25 starting. One of my friends got a lemon-based mocktail (pretty good) and I got Cosmopolitan-type cocktail with Prosecco (pretty solid and not overly sweet, just not one of the best cocktails I tried). Another friend ordered Negroni, which is a potent cocktail with a bitter sharp, dry aftertaste. I could hardly taste any hint of sweetness in the drink. My friend thought it was too bitter, too. Honestly, for me it tastes just as bitter as a Manhattan, probably because both cocktails incorporate sweet vermouth. 3 stars for the poor customer service and wait time for standing in line to order drinks. There were 2 or 3 bartenders and they were rushing but also seemed like they weren't efficiently helping customers with drinks in a timely manner. The lounge area was meh (super limited seat spots) and the vibes were bland despite coming here on New Year's Eve. Definitely an older demographic that frequents this bar, not that it's a bad thing, just not our vibe since it would've been more fun if there other people closer to our age, so we decided to bar hop elsewhere after.
