Extremely happy & satisfied with our new pool/spa construction. We interviewed several pool contractors and immediately felt most comfortable with Art/Smitty's Pool Construction. Since they one, they were very professional, timely, and delivered as promised. No run around, completed as promised (most efficient I've ever seen a contractor execute a project), and always ensured I was informed of all phases of project. Most important, assured we were happy and satisfied. Our backyard is triangular shaped and absolutely made the best of it with a beautiful pool! Highly recommend!

Best Contractor we've ever had!!! Our pool is amazing exactly what we wanted. I love the suggestions for things we would never had thought of. It was finished on time and looks amazing!! It was a much easier process for us then expected. Everything went super smooth. I'm so happy we chose them to build our pool. I highly recommend Smitty's pool construction. Thank you Art!!!

We searched for months to find the right contractor for our pool and patio area project. We spent months having people not show up, quotes that were promised, but never came, and plenty of extremely high quotes. We eventually got a referral that lead us to Art at Smitty's Pool Construction. Art, Corey, and the entire crew were efficient and professional. The pool went in without any major issues and Art was responsive to any questions or concerns. We're super happy with our pool and entertainment area! Had we not found Smitty's Pool, I am not sure we would have had the confidence to move forward with our project with any other contractor. I can say with 100% confidence, you are in great hands with this company!

    How the pool started

Art and Corey are the owners and they're great to work with. Good communication and their employees do great work, and are super respectful and clean. They take pride in the work. I would recommend 100 times over. They delivered on the timeframe we discussed, and actually finished a week ahead of schedule. They did a complete backyard remodel. The first 2 pictures are how it started. The next few are the finished project

This was my very first time hiring anybody to do any sort of landscaping work. I was ignorant going…read moreinto it so I had to lean heavily into the landscapers expertise on what would be best for what I wanted to achieve. After getting a few quotes, I chose Lee's Concrete because he impressed me the most with the ideas he presented, not being pushy or sales-y, while also staying competitive price wise. He is also officially licensed for concrete. The project started around May 2025, and completed towards the end of July 2025. It consisted of concrete pouring, artificial turf installation, irrigation routing and laying out gravel/river rocks in planting areas. Also, a 2D layout diagram was provided for me to submit to HOA for approval. Below is a list of critiques ranked starting with my biggest letdowns: #1) WEEDS. Not via the concrete, but the artificial turf that was laid out. Lee offered artificial turf installs during my contractor search. My main reason for getting artificial turf was to have little-to-no maintenance. But, mines constantly has weeds growing out of the edges due the gap in the ends not being sealed. My next door neighbor had artificial turf installed by another landscaper and never has any weeds growing out of the edges ever. They had theirs installed after mine. Maybe it was my fault for not communicating that need initially. But at the same time, I thought having artificial turf laid out and it preventing weed growth on the edges would be a given. #2) Blotchy concrete coloring on front yard. My backyard's concrete coloring was pretty consistent and I was very happy with how it turned out. But my front yard was very blotchy and inconsistent. I was told that this is normal and will take about a year to cure and to give it time. Another reason was for differing "pH levels" for the area where the concrete was laid. Well... a year has passed and it has kind of improved here and there, but not so much in other parts. So, I'm a little hesitant to believe it that is actually the reason. It doesn't make sense to me that all the concrete laid out in my entire neighborhood doesn't look as bad as how it looks on my driveway. Structurally, it's fine. But it is a bit of an eye-sore looking at it every time I'm in my front yard. #3) I felt like I spent more time than I needed to checking for imperfections. A main one was my vinyl fence and cinder block wall getting dirty from the concrete pours. Another big one was the cinder block retaining wall in my backyard not being symmetrical on the edges. I had to call it out a few times to even get it fixed. Once it was finally fixed, my vinyl fence had residue from the cinderblock wall fix. By that time, I had gotten fatigue from having to constantly call out imperfections and let that one go. #4) You don't really know when the landscapers will come out to do the work. If I remember correctly, they would come out most weekdays. But, you wouldn't know if they would show up the next day or not. Not too big of a deal honestly. I'm more picky about this because I like to keep the side gate to my backyard locked and not knowing when to unlock it in the morning was just a tiny annoyance. I ended up just unlocking it first thing in the morning and locking it in the evening every weekday. Overall, I'd rate the project a 3 or 3.5 out of 5 - which I think is a very fair assessment. I'm relatively happy how it looks at the end. But there were a few bumps along the way which is why I cannot give a 5 out of 5. It pains me to write the above critiques and not be able to give the highest rating because Lee and the rest of his team were all very nice people. But there definitely could've have been improvements for the entire project.

The appointment was set for today from 10:00-11:00 AM. At 11:21 AM, I received a text saying he couldn't make it. This is not a great first impression, and the communication has been less than ideal. We set aside time from our workday to be available during the agreed appointment window. Finally he had me call him over FaceTime to discuss what needed to be done for our project. The issue is a shared wall between myself and neighbors and Dan said he has experience dealing with this. I sent him photos for our quote since he said that would be all he needed. This was on 11/30. I never heard from him again despite calling, texting, and reaching out thru Yelp. It's very disappointing but I guess it's to be expected when someone is already difficult to reach at the onset. In any case finding a reputable contractor who is reliable and response is key in any project. If you have someone that doesn't respond or reply its red flags for sure. Update: Thanks for responding, Dan. Your reply actually proves my point. For the record, I never asked you to help with anything "fake." I asked for a quote -- the one you said you could give based on photos -- and then you stopped responding. That's all this was about. If you simply told me this project was not for you that would have been the end of it. You ghosting and then responding to me on Yelp in such an unprofessional manner is what is crazy. Calling the situation "fake" also shows a misunderstanding of California property law. Tree-root damage to a shared wall is a real, common issue here, and nothing I described was unusual. Your decision to jump to insults is exactly why I warned others about your lack of basic communication and professionalism.

He was polite, professional, and very honest in how he ran the business. That is the main reason I continued to use them whenever I needed short-load concrete. Pricing was always clear upfront, and if the quantity changed, it was communicated before the pour. Recently, I learned the business had been sold. When I placed an order for 1.7 yards at 4" thickness, Ed contacted me and introduced me to the new owner, Jessie. Although I initially felt unsure about the change in ownership, I decided to move forward based on Ed's recommendation. However, on the scheduled pour day, there were several issues. I was not provided a clear price upfront for the 1.7 yards. Jessie arrived almost four hours late, and communication throughout the day was difficult. When I called for updates, the responses were often unprofessional and rude he yelled at me and tells me don't try to tell him how to run his business, all because he doesn't like I kept bugging him how much longer for him to get to my job site and I was given multiple ETAs that were not accurate. I pay my guys hourly it supposed to be an easy 4-5 hours pouring day but we end up at the site for 10hrs. Because my client had already scheduled the pour for that day, I continued with the job to avoid further delays. When the concrete was finally delivered around 3:45 PM, since I'm already late we went ahead and poured I forgot to take the before and after of the yard meter he hired a driver to drive and operate the truck Jessie even Yelled at him on the spot poor guy poor guy have to trained this way anyhow after we pour I was later told that 2.6yards had been poured, for a walk way size at 26'X5' 4" thickness. This resulted in a total charge of $983.72 I was also told I was not charged weekend fees, which I is a lied not only he added one yard extra charge he over charged me. With the previous owner, pricing and yardage were always clearly communicated before the pour. In this case, that clarity was not provided. I would strongly recommend that anyone working with the new ownership confirms pricing, yardage, and total through via text before scheduling a pour to avoid this crook new ownership.
