Being stuck on the side of road sucks and is never a good thing. Having to tow your car definitely adds to it. Having a great tow truck drivers like Charles and Andy always makes it easier. Charles had a great attitude and was very careful with his job and my car. I immediately felt less stressed once he was there and I appreciate everything that he and Smitty's towing did. I was stuck on the Cuesta grade originally before getting towed by Charles in pretty dangerous spot. Another Smitty's driver Andy showed up randomly passing by to tow me to safer location for Charles to pick me up, which is another good example of where these guys heart is. Smitty's Towing will quote you one price and then try and double it when they show up for the tow. They left me in a complete bind after I waited 2 hours for them. Maybe they shouldn't quote prices if they are not going to stick to it. They should also train their phone staff a little better to understand what is really going on. As a business owner myself, I have to say that there are some companies that care, and there are others that don't. Smitty's Towing is obviously the latter. I would not recommend this company unless they were your last option. read more

During our family vacation on April 15, 2022 our tire was damaged and our family of four were stranded on a hot road between Solvang and Santa Maria. Charles from Smitty's towing was incredibly helpful and went out of his way to help us find a tire shop that could replace our large hard to find tire. Since we could not tow and take our kids in his truck, he followed us nearly all the way to Santa Maria making sure our tire stayed inflated and we were safe. Charles was so helpful, patient and really cared about our safety. We are so grateful to him and Smitty's towing for going the extra mile to get us safely back on the road. read more

I was quoted one price per specific location to pull us out of mud and was told a driver would be clearing in that area, then charged considerably more once tow was completed. To compound the issue they call back after the payment had been made to insist I transposed a number and they were trying to get an additional $900. What a Shame!!! read more

Neil is the man. He went above and beyond to reccomend that he actually did not need need to tow my leaking 4 runner even though I thought it was needed to get back to morro bay from Solvang. I'm from LA and was driving here and got a flat it was all bad. I called every tow truck company in the area and since it was Sunday at night no one was there to help also because my car is very low every company told me they don't have the specific bed to tow my car. Smittys to the rescue! They were the only company that had the truck to tow my car and Charles was really nice and went above and beyond. I got a blown tire on the side of 101 with a 2003 Forest River Sunseeker RV, and these guys were out there in about 20 minutes with a great attitude and replaced my blown tire with the spare. They also gave me a great recommendation for a tire place in Santa Maria. read more

I wish I could give them 10 STARS......Long story short, I was broke down on 101 near SLO while towing my travel trailer after a family vacation. Stranded on the shoulder of the freeway for 4.5 hours as local tow companies would not take on the job from AAA. Smitty's came to the rescue even though they were located 30 miles to the south of where I was. Their driver (I will call him Big Jim) was amazingly patient and got me into a campground that i was able to find that would accommodate me while my truck was getting worked on.. This required him to tow my truck which was towing my trailer. Then when we got to the campground, un-hitching the trailer from my truck and then setting my truck aside. Hitching up the trailer to his tow truck and parking it. Then re-hitching my truck to his tow truck and parking it. SERVICE SERVICE SERVICE. I was sort of a wreck and Jim was nothing but assuring as he calmed my nerves and told me he would do whatever it took to get me and my rigs to wherever they needed to go. We called them to fuel one of my trucks than out of fuel in Arroyo Grande, Ca. Apparently they did not have any luck starting the truck, so we had one of their wreckers come out of Santa Maria, Ca (15 miles away) and bring it to my Yard in San Luis Obispo, Ca (8 miles away) total charge was 1087.00 for this service. completely taking advantage of this situation. The tow truck driver could not figure out how to prime a diesel apparently so we had to get in towed. DFT will no longer be using Smitty's towing ever. do yourself a favor and call Johnboys towing in the area, very professional and a fair price for their services. read more

Our mercedes sprinter broke down on Hwy 101. During the next 9 hours we had contact with dispatcher, Kimberly , and and two drivers, Julio and Jim. Throughout the ordeal, they were kind, extremely helpful, and concerned about our situation. Our roadside service company gave them misinformation leading to the need for two trucks. This towing service is fantastic. I had a flat tire in my driveway today and couldn't find the lug nut thingy which unlocks the tires. Called Geico, who were also as wonderful as usual, and they dispatched Smitty's Towing. They arrived well within their estimated time, loaded up my car and took me to the local Walmart Tire Store, which ended up being closed due to compressor problems, which we discovered only after the car had been unhooked from the tow truck. Instead of having to have a second tow, the driver, a very charming young man with a beard, made sure I had enough air in the tire to limp over to the local Big Brand, and didn't leave until he saw that I was on my way.
