I've been going here for smog tests for both of my vehicles for years, but I think after the ownership changed hands things have gone downhill. Today in particular, I went in and there were maybe 5 people waiting ahead of me which is fine but the problem started when I left my key and registration paperwork on the counter just so it can get into the que. There was only one person working in the whole place and that person just pushed the key and paperwork back towards me to and said to have a seat which I did for a while. After not getting any word as to an estimate for how long it would be, I just walked out to never come back. There are plenty of smog places that are rated high on Yelp that I will try out...... Getting smogs done is such a drag! But I love this place, been coming here for the last couple smogs. They're cheap, quick, and reliable! Took my car to do the smog. I waited in their lobby for someone to check in customers after few minutes the technician came in n told me he need it me to write the mileage n he's going to need my driver license. Then told me to take a sit that he will be with me in a min. He went back to check on the car he was doing. Few minutes came back took care of the customer he was helping before me then called me to tell he was going take he's lunch and after that he got another car before mine. Why he Wasted my time? I had 35 minutes to fill my tank with gas, get a smog check, AND make it to work on the other side of town (at least a 10 minute drive). I get my tank filled at the nearby Chevron (5 minutes), then I drive over to Smog City and see a person pull in JUST ahead of me. Great. After I get checked in and I have about 25 minutes left to get my smog, and guess what.... I made it to work on time. Everything was fast and painless. Love it here. I decided to get my smog check done here in Stockton since it's cheaper in Stockton than where I live now in the bay area. Very pleased when we needed to smog test our 33 foot RV! They were able to test right away and the price was very reasonable!

The tech Alfonzo runs the smog test on my vehicle which it passes then tells it fails visual for my intake and air filter is not stock. In my past experience a honest smog shop does the visual first stating the issue that it will fail such as the check engine light is on or a damage intake hose. in my case an after market intake and air filter which upon the failure of the visual they don't run the emission test allowing you to first fix what ever the visual issue is and does not charging you for it was not connected to computer to be read. a good tech can tell if it is going to past the visual within 2 minutes. So beware of this shops practices. The bottom line is Alfonzo scammed me runs the emission test already knowing he going fail me. read more

So guess what I came back, this time with my grandmothers car, and had another horrible experience , as soon as I park in parking lot (very small parking lot by the way like maybe a 20ft walk to the furthest one). And as soon as I get out the car the guy screams at me ,"Hey can you park here for me!?" And points to the front. I'm like okay sure? Mind you okay I should of parked in front but does it really fucking matter? Its not a walmart size parking its literally like 10 more feet of walking Then I ask him why did he make me Move if he is going to pull the car in anyways and he said he didn't want to walk that far & there is no other reason. Then said I can go somewhere else if I wanted after I said I didn't appreciate that , I said nope i'm already here. Then comes back and tells me the computer is reset need to drive 100miles. Kinda of glad that happened because I didn't want to give them my money. For sure for sure not coming back now (and shame for them because I take a lot of cars here and have word of mouth sent people there) . And to the owner I still want my refund please thank you. I also want to add this is the same guy who was rude lst time and messed up the coupon, and he was rude to another customer after me. Just read reviews and he has been complained on before. (Not you Bob) I've never had the displeasure of meeting such a rude, chauvinistic smog tech, but I did have the unfortunate luck of having to meet with him when arriving here. He speaks to people as if they are beneath him while also, somehow, being completely incapable of understanding the most basic common sense. His condescending, rude and unnecessarily loud tone needs an adjustment to say the least. USED to be a great place for smog and for years I would take all my cars there and refer all my friends/family. That has all changed. I called them up and they now charge: $48.00 for a very simple, basic smog check on cars 2000 and newer. I found a new smog place that charged me $30 out the door so I will never be back. read more

Called on Saturday (8/31/19) to ask what time they close since my time at Stockton Honda was lasting way longer than expected (which is a whole other story) and the guy said they close at 3pm. Nothing else... Okay if I can make it I'm gonna head there. Once I finally leave Honda I head straight for Smog City and get there right at 2:45pm. Yes, I hate to be that guy but after my day at Honda I had no choice. I walk in and say I need a smog, no other customers are there btw, and the guy says they're closed for the Labor Day weekend. I said I called and was told you close at 3. He says yea but we're closed for the Labor Day holiday now. Obviously, the guy is an idiot. He also tried to explain how the work I had done at Honda might throw off the smog. During his lame explanation he even said "if you decide to come back here" like you obviously don't want my business. First and last time going here. I came bc of others having good referrals of this place, but apparently if you're cutting it close to their closing time then don't bother (even with no other customer there). Quick, honest and friendly. I arrived about 50 minutes before they closed. There were no other clients ahead of me so they told me they'd smog my truck in spite of their rules. My truck is a 99 Silverado and because older vehicles don't connect to their computerized interfaces, they have to do a bit more to get older vehicles sniffed. I was advised it could take up to an hour, depending on how things worked out. Instead, they got my truck tested and certified within 25 minutes! In a business full of shady, dishonest characters, these guys were honest about what COULD happen but got the job done quickly and professionally!! read more
