I was going to make a Yelp account specifically to share the love I have for this company but it turns out I had the same idea over 7 years ago; so I guess this is an updated review. There's a reason why I've never stopped going here for all of my cars & the same goes for my parents. This place has become my family's go-to mechanic as my grandma also goes here now after we recommended she take the over 30-year old car with over 200,000 miles on it here as she refused to give up on getting it fixed. My grandma's previous mechanic failed/refused to repair it but United Auto took on the beast of a job & got it done. The owner Teddy even towed her car from her house to their shop & back for free whenever a new issue occurred while she's at home or work rather than her taking it over herself & getting a ride as she's the only driver in her household; also giving her discounts throughout the process. They also replaced an entire engine in my Mom's car. The team at United Auto Repair do a wonderful job on all of my family's different types & ages of cars. They are genuinely good people that make me feel like I'm not being ripped off as their prices seem reasonable to me; a person who is sort of a car-fanatic. I feel like my cars are in good hands in their care & my family & I will continue to recommend them to our family & friends the same way I'm recommending them to the reader of this lengthy feedback. read more

What's the worst diagnosis you can get about your car??? Yes!!! You guessed right , "YOU NEED A NEW ENGINE" , Thanks but no thanks. I recently took my car in for a diagnostic, $170 , 2 hours later I got a phone call regarding my car. Yes, the worst news you could hear from a mechanic, your engine is no good, you just need to give me $5500 to replace it. Of course, If I go to a hospital and I'm told I need a new heart I will definitely need a second opinion, and that's exactly what I did. On the next day I took my car to another mechanic hoping for a better outcome. Thanks to my instinct I didn't just believe the first answer. My car really needed a fuel pump, but I'm assuming this place will make more $ by " replacing " the whole engine rather than looking for the real issue. Be aware, don't take your car here unless you want to spend lots of $$$. My car now runs like a champ and it's on the road driving perfectly!! And No!! It didn't need a new engine !! read more

I rarely leave reviews, but after my experience with United Auto Repair, I feel it's important to warn others. I originally brought my vehicle in for AC repairs. I was told there would be a diagnostic fee, and then they would provide an estimate if any repairs were needed. They kept my vehicle for three days, identified a part they claimed needed replacement, and charged me a substantial amount. Within 48 hours of picking up my car, the AC failed again. I brought it back, assuming mistakes happen. This time, they claimed a different part was the issue, charged me even more money, and kept my car for another couple of days. Four or five days after picking it up, the AC stopped working yet again. On the third visit, they finally admitted their earlier repairs were wrong. They replaced yet another part, refunded me only for the incorrect part but not the labor I had already paid (which was absurd), and claimed the issue was now resolved. Fast forward to today--less than four years later, my AC has failed again. When I called to explain my history with them and the thousands I had spent on these repairs, I was told they are now "under new ownership." Despite the fact that they still operate under the same company name and were able to pull up my old invoices, they refused to take any responsibility. Instead, they quoted me $200 just to look at the AC again--and that fee would not even go toward repairs. When I pushed back on how unfair this was, the employee actually hung up on me, saying: "Sorry, there's nothing I can do for you. Have a good day," and then ended the call. This has been an exhausting, expensive, and frustrating ordeal. I paid large sums of money, lost countless days without my vehicle, and ultimately have nothing to show for it because the AC is still broken. The lack of accountability--both then and now--is unacceptable. Do not trust this business with your car. They will take your money, fail to properly fix the issue, and leave you stranded with no support. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere for auto repair. read more

So I figured I would get another opinion! The Car was supposedly fixed in 3days, how? Dear United, I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional service I received from Ted and his staff. My friends and family were on our way to our annual camping/fishing trip in the Sierra Nevada when a fuel pump failure threatened to ruin the trip. After calling several shops in Stockton, all of whom gave the standard "drop it off and we'll diagnose it" response and two even stating the pump was unavailable, I contacted United. I explained to Ted that the problem was the fuel pump, and he immediately understood my situation. He told me to tow the vehicle to his shop, assuring me they would get to it right away. Beware of the new ownership. I had taken my vehicles to the previous owner for years and was always given honest service. If I didn't need a repair they would tell me and if I did the price was fair. I had complete confidence in their diagnosis. Recently went to the new ownership because my brakes were starting to squeak a bit. They told me all four rotors need to be replaced and it would cost $800. I was absolutely shocked and declined. I got a second opinion and was told front brake pads need to be replaced and the rotors were fine. I will never go back to United Auto Repair. Do not trust what they say ! read more

I've brought my truck here several times for repairs and have experienced excellent service every time. I've been to other places locally where I've been quoted for services that I didn't need, and United Auto Repair has proven time and time again to be honest in their approach to diagnosing and fixing issues as well as fair in their pricing. I like that they also take the time to explain the options, as well as provide some insight on the repairs needed. I asked the owner about bringing in an older truck that was sitting in my driveway, and he gave me some advice on what to do before bringing it in so that I don't cause additional damage. United Auto Repair provided the cheapest quote in the entire 209 for my engine swap... for a reason. I was originally quoted 2 full business days (with appointment) to have the work completed but it ended up taking a little over a month (big difference when you rent a car while waiting for your car in the shop.) Everytime I would call for an update regardless if it was 9am or 3pm the mechanic that was working on my car was always conveniently 'on lunch' and couldn't talk with me or give an update on the progress. After finally receiving my vehicle it began breaking down within the first week. I called United Auto Repair and they said they could take a look at it for a diagnostic fee of $200 even after I just spent $2500 at their shop. I knew their work wasn't covered under warranty however I trusted their great reviews on Yelp (almost 5 stars). They knew they didn't leave the car running right and frankly didn't care. Buyer beware. I've spent over $1000 chasing an AC leak. I've taken my truck in at least six times over the past three years, to get this AC leak repaired. Last year, I was told the only part that needed to finally be replaced was the compressor. This spring, my AC is not working, once again. Bow promised me that I wouldn't have to pay anymore, but he is no longer there. The new manager is saying, I have to pay for the coolant recharge, and the oil to find the leak. After wasting $1000, I will be taking my business elsewhere. Unfortunate. read more

Bao is no longer at United Auto. The Camry went in to get "fixed" and still doesn't work. While at the shop, another disgruntled customer showed up saying his car still isn't working either! Seems like a trend. Anna could not help him or me. She doesn't seem to understand that people need to work and cannot just leave their cars. She talks down to us, saying things like, "I am sorry YOU feel that way . . ." Anna is not a mechanic. But won't let you talk to anyone who is. Anna keeps saying different things about where Bao is. My favorite is that he is on a special mission. It is a very disrespectful thing to say. Yes Anna is not great at customer service, but let's be clear, this is Bao's fault and responsibility. He was the one that assured us regarding the work that needed to be done and was in fact done at United Auto. I guess it is time to take it to court. read more

Soooo, Patrick and Teddy, let me update you about the 1 star I gave you and reason I bad mouth your business, once Mr. So called mechanic Teddy finished my brakes ,which he never said if he was going to replace the rotors or turn them, because he said and I quote he said it was cheaper to replace the rotors instead of turning them, which I have never heard no Shiiii like that ever and I'm sure nobody's ever heard of turning rotors costing more than buying new rotors and secondly, you guys said my fronts were at 85% and we're perfect, so when the backs started wobbling again, then you stated, its my fronts, which I was not about to pay you $300 dollars to turn my rotors and replace my pads when you stated my fronts were good, sound like a lot of guessing going on read more

Both my relatively new headlights wouldn't come on thought I might have a ground somewhere in my system. Received a response quickly and offered to schedule an appointment. As I was nearby I just tried a walk-in. They said they would access what was wrong and call me. Seems both headlights just happened to fail at the same time, I've never had that happen but they replaced both lights for me and included the parts and labor in the diagnostic fee so basically free lol. Top Notch....there is a reason why United Auto has solid 5 star ratings! Everything that happens to a 2013 Nissan happens to my car. From the transmission going out within the 1st year of ownership and the inside door handle breaking to the engine light going on and most recently the stability light issue. That latest issue was super scary..that traction/stability light would come on and I would lose power. I could no longer drive it on the freeway as the speed would drop to 40 miles an hr. without much warning! I was so annoyed with the car but not with United Auto. They did all they could to problem solve, charged me for the service and did not add in any extra charges when I had to take this car back and forth. After that issue was done....they got my car in and fixed my other existing a/c issue and the car got a tune up. Throughout all of it, they had constant communication with me. They went above and beyond....and they are my car's forever place now. It is so nice to have a reasonable, solid, compassionate and efficient Mechanics in my car's life. Three words to describe this place. Honest, reliable and budget-friendly. My dealership said my car needed replacement of brake rotor, brake pads and air filter. When I inquired, Bao responded with a quote that is almost half of what the dealership quoted. I went to this place today and Bao just helped me save more by informing me that i don't need to replace the rotor. Very nice and honest owner. They did a great service too. Now! My car was sent here because when i bought it the EPC light was on an the dealership was going to pay to fix it. My car has been there for almost three weeks. It was supposed to be ready a week ago, then they pushed it to this Monday then they pushed it again. The mechanic admitted to getting the parts last week but just not touching my car. He said "it's an Audi it's difficult." It should be that hard to replace a turbo in a car if you're a "pro" at those kinds of cars. Not to mention he said he'd start working on it as soon as we got off the phone on Monday and it'll be ready Wednesday, Thursday the latest, but it shouldn't take 4 days to replace it. What are you guys doing? Taking it apart a different piece a day? And it takes forever for someone to pick up the phone on top of it. It should be ready today, I'll update. read more

Took my car to a shop to get a transmission fluid flush and my car started to hard pull a few days later when switching gears. So i took it to another shop to get it checked, the issue continued. I was close to giving up on my car and just buy a new one but i thought i'd give it one last try. I reached out to United and spoke to Bao. He was very helpful and was great on communication. Took my car into United and they noticed my transmission was low on fluids!! He hooked it up with a transmission fluid flush at a very affordable price. My car is good as almost new Thanks to United! Very professional, did a detailed diagnose and called me back leaving me the decision on the next steps, I made my decision and the part of the Job was completed as I requested, later I will visit United Auto repair to complete the second part of the Job. I liked the Description of the issues was given to me on written very well explained by someone who knows how to write explaining in detail. I was called and did take an Uber to pick up my truck and for my surprise it was very safe at a parking lot just crossing the street from the shop. I had a great experience at United Auto repair. The location is a little inconvenient, on a downtown corner, but the prices and service are wonderful. The staff is very polite and helpful. I felt like a VIP because I only had to wait thirty minutes for my battery replacement. I've taken my Camry Hybrid to the dealer up to now because it's been hard to find other shops that could work on it.
