overall very good experience, I was in and out in under 15 minutes with my smog test results on their way to the DMV ... excellent friendly service reason for 4 stars? the location is a little tricky to find, after turning into a narrow alleyway (past Pho restaurant on N. Main), I was stuck behind a mail delivery truck for a few minutes while the driver was apparently chatting with one of the business owners. Annoying. Got past that and finally saw the sign for the smog check place, had an employee wave me into a parking spot a little past the shop. I was referred to James at Smog N Dash for a Smog Inspection. His shop is located down an alley way off of North Main. When I arrived, he greeted me promptly and let me know I would have a small wait. No more than 5 minutes later, my car was in the garage undergoing the inspection. James offered a great rate. While I was there only for the smog inspection, James runs a full garage for repair and service - of all types of cars. When I was there, he had a mustang, a bentley and a maserati in there. My sister found this place online, and there was a coupon for a smog service for a low price. My first contact was on the phone with Johnny; very helpful and personable. I took my car over to their shop, and they had it smogged within 20 minutes. Everyone I met there was helpful and efficient. I only paid $35.00 including the certificate, using the online coupon! This place if fantastic. I went in on Saturday 2-1-14 around 11:30am and there was a young man working hard to make sure everyone was happy and satisfied while getting thier car smogged. It was busy but he juggled the crowd so well with a positive attitude and great customer service effort. I called a few places and prices were steep (they give you a price but say fees will be added and a certificate fee as well) but when I called Smog & Go, I was quoted a great price for everything (2002 SUV), no added fees or additional for certificate. My office is in Walnut Creek so I did a Yelp search. Smog N Dash was close to my office and based upon the reviews I went there to have the smog check done on my son's car. The one star stating that the people there were rude is really a puzzle. I couldn't have been treated more warmly and friendly as I was by the owner, James. I thought I would have to leave the car and come back later. I was in and out in about 15 minutes, the price was more than reasonable...$31.75 for the smog test, $8.25 for the certificate. I went here to have my 94 accord smogged. Both the smog tech and the owner steve were extremely helpful. I had a hole in my muffler and instead of just passing me along to the next guy they took extra time to help me by patching up the hole with some apoxy rap. And did it for free. Then my car was able to pass. They have a very reasonable rate and are very friendly. I will be going here from now on and would highly recommend this establishment to others read more

Had to get that smog certificate sent to DMV, so I found James. I work close so I dropped by thinking if it was going to take a while I would just come back at another time. Well, he took me right away and had me out of there in about 15 minutes! His shop was neat, he is professional and he was quick! I'll be back nest time I need a smog, for sure!! Just a heads up, the place is a little tricky to find. It sits back from the street, so you'll pass the VW dealership then the noodle restaurant then turn in the driveway that runs along side the noodle shop and follow the driveway to the back. I called beforehand and they told me to come in, no waiting. When I got there I found a couple of guys working on their own car, yucking it up, and completely ignoring me. Finally I called the shop and they didn't answer. So I rang them again, and a guy answers and I said, "I thought you were open" (as I am sitting there waiting right next to him), and he says,"yeah" and I said, "Well I'm sitting in your bay" and he grunts and hangs up. Then two other guys walk out towards my car, sigh, roll their eyes and tell me "you're not supposed to park there" and the other guy says "Busted!" (juvenile!) Four guys in total, one appeared to be a friend who was the only decent one of the bunch, the other three rude, acting like I was inconveniencing them. Their attitude was ridiculous. I just left so I didn't get to experience them charging me more than promised in their ad, which I'm sure they would've done if they even passed my car. They need a lesson in customer service.I went down the street to Contra Costa Smog and received fast, friendly, inexpensive, excellent service. read more
