The brisket itself had some tender and juicy bites but other bites were a bit chewy. For the most part, it was delicious but the sauce was needed. Completely lacking salt in the cook. The brisket trimming is less to be desired as the fat cap was about 1/2". Way too much. Mashed Potatoes- mashed smooth and seasoned decent. Nothing to write home about but was decent. Mac-N-Cheese - very lacking flavor. Creamy since they mix sauce with pasta per order. Just something I'd expect in a nursing home. We ordered a smokehouse salad which my wife liked and I though was generous with the ingredients. I got a combo platter with both brisket and chicken. I thought prices were appropriate and portions were sufficiently generous. There were two sauces that came with the meats (hot and mild). Both were good, but I felt both were relatively mild, since it was not immediately obvious which was the hot one. Chicken was slightly dry, but otherwise good. I liked the collard greens and especially, the baked beans which had an almost Mexican flavor, because of the cumin. Also good was the cole slaw. Overall, good value. I give it 4 stars. read more

This place is easily the best bbq in the metro west and probably in the greater Boston area. The smoked brisket is perfectly done, juicy tender, perfectly marbled and beautiful rendered. The owner Bob is a brisket king. Beautiful brioche buns, absolutely delicious sides; Mac and cheese was so satisfying and the beans had a super unique flavor plus the collared greens had amazing flavor and were cooked perfectly. This bbq joint is the whole. damn. package. I recommended 11/10. Do a big takeout order or a family style dinner. You'll be back for more. Good honest business. Love supporting places like this. I was visiting Norwood on business and found this place on Yelp. I am very glad I found it! It is located in a gas station mini mart. I tried the brisket and it was absolutely amazing!I have tried brisket all over the United States and this is truly one of the best I've had. So moist and delicious. I tried the spicier sauce and it was very good but not overpowering at all. The bread pudding was awesome, too. I can't wait to return and try more items next time I am in town. Highly recommend. This is a perfectly unassuming BBQ takeout, with deceptively great food. The owner is a diamond in the rough--he's a proper trained chef, with lots of enthusiasm and creativity. So far I have tried (2 separate stops) the pulled pork, brisket, ribs and chicken. From my 10 years living in NC, all are righteous. The bbq sauces are very good, although I mixed the pulled pork with cider vinegar and hot peppers (the Eastern Carolina way) and it went perfectly with the homemade slaw. Prices are super reasonable (two meat plates with 2 sides for under $20, even after taxes is a very fair deal!). BTW, the collards are also dynamite, although they were slightly overcooked on one occasion (hard to control that when you're in a convenience store, I suppose!) but they are the real deal! This place is great! It is so hard to find decent barbeque in Massachusetts, but this place bucks the trend. It is funny that it is in Mr. Frank's but you have to appreciate the hustle to make the most out of the situation and provide great food despite space limitations. We've ordered from Smoke House many times, the most recent being last night. The food is always great - particularly the brisket, pulled pork and chicken. I had the ribs last night and they were solid. I think my favorite thing is the smokehouse salad. It's not the healthiest salad, but a lot of veggies and a lot of pulled meats. Can't go wrong with that. They also catered a party we had and everyone was raving about the food. Finally, I will mention that the owner is super nice, his wife who helped with the catering is also very friendly. I know they support other local businesses and local causes. I don't review a lot of places. It's hard to find good BBQ in Massachusetts. There's a lot of hip places with good interior design and compelling presentation. BBQ is fundamentally simple food and at smokehouse it's executed well. It's a small operation but don't let the fact that it's inside of a gas station deter you. They're doing things right here. I lived in Georgia for a long time and Smokehouse BBQ is about as close as I can get without hopping on a plane. The brisket is so tender it borders on collapsing. Sauces are great. The pulled pork and chicken are very nice. All the sides are excellent. I haven't tried the ribs but I plan to soon. Trust me if you're looking for a quick dinner made by real people who care about the food they're cooking make the trip. read more

I was excited today to try a new BBQ restaurant in a strange location, a gas station. Let's start with the positives: the young man at the store front was pleasant and courteous. The rice side dish was delicious along with the cornbread. The Mac n cheese had promise, but did not deliver in taste because there was no seasoning at all. The ribs were okay, but nothing to write home about. The brisket was as dry as sawdust. It was definitely left over from yesterday. I could tell it was overcooked and dry without even tasting it. The pulled chicken was more like cut up chicken tossed lightly in sauce so definitely recommend getting more sauce on the side. It felt like there was at least 1.5-2 breasts of chicken! The collard greens were excellent, the Mac n cheese and cornbread was decent. My husband got the chicken wings and enjoyed those as well.
