This is one of the worst barbecue restaurants that we have ever been to. I ordered the three rib platter. The platter contained two beef ribs that had no meat on top and a little meat around the sides.. There were two St. Louis ribs that should've had more meat on them.. There were three small baby back ribs that had the most meat of any of them. The platter also came with beans which were half contained in a water sauce. The ribs and the beans were doused with a very spicy sauce. It also came with coleslaw, which was dry and cornbread, which was mediocre. My husband had the chicken and brisket platter. It had the same spicy sauce. They came with the smallest sweet potato. I've seen in a long time and also the dry coleslaw and mediocre cornbread. To eat your food there was the cheapest plastic knife, and fork. The fork could only contain about three beans at a time. The knife was so bad that my husband took out his pocket knife to cut his food. If you wanted something to drink, you had to purchase it and that included bottled water. There were other beverages that I didn't recognize and there was no Coke or Pepsi. They were known napkins only rough, brownish paper on a roll that you pulled off pieces. At least there was a bathroom to wash your hands. We will never return read more

Went here on a Saturday early dinner around 5pm. Plenty of parking in lot. Not busy and friendly service at the counter. The table was dirty but I told the service staff and she cleaned it promptly. Casual atmosphere. Food came out in a timely manner. Memphis Ribs were fall off the bone delicious, with enough sauce on them, and plenty of meat. Mac n cheese was great, cheesey and great, fresh mashed potatoes w gravy very good too. Loved the cucumber salad, crispy sweet and a bit of tang. Bbq chicken wings were very good but could have been a bit more tender w more crunch on the outside, however very enjoyable. Great cornbread but I like it warm, it was a bit on the cold side. This has been a favorite of mine since childhood, though at the time it was a bit more challenging than it is in 2026 to get decent BBQ this far north. The food is still good, though I have had a couple of minor issues over the years. Overall I'd definitely still recommend this place, especially for convenience as they're pretty efficient. The brisket is perfection. Pairs so well with the cucumber salad. The brisket is so good it sells out all the time. I called in my order for take out and was told it'd be ready in 15 minutes. I was there in 15 and drove immediately home. I ordered the Oink, Cluck, and Moo combo dinner with cornbread, baked beans, and mac & cheese. I started with Oink (pork rib). First, none of the food was hot. Luke warm was the hottest and the Moo (brisket) was not only room temp at best, it was so dry a piece stuck to my throat as I tried to swallow. It was inedible. I'll try making a separate dish out the leftovers to try and salvage it. The ribs were slathered in sauce, which was disappointing because I prefer a side container of the sauce and very little, if any, on the rib...i like to sample the seasoning and smoke first. They were somewhat tender with some bark but seemed to be reheated rather than made fresh. They were not fall-off-the-bone tender. The chicken, a leg and a thigh, also covered in sauce was ok except the skin was quite soft and elastic instead of crispy/smoky. The mac & cheese seemed to be overcooked elbow macaroni swimming in a cheesewhiz type cheese and barely lukewarm. Certainly not a traditional homemade baked mac & cheese. Baked beans...small portion, very soupy and too tart for my taste. The beans had no substance. Cornbread was ok, too cool to melt my already room temp butter. I rarely write a food review but this was so disappointing that I was compelled to do it. This was the Braintree location...maybe the northshore locations are better? My usual ribs place was closed so I thought I'd try this...for nearly $40 (with tax), not worth it. Won't be back. They took out their soda machine and everything in the cooler was warm. Asked for ice. No ice. Asked for a cup as my elderly mother has trouble drinking from a bottle. No cups. Got our orders in a bag, despite saying we were going to eat in. You get a lot less in the to-go containers too. My son's burrito was dry with almost no sauce and when he went to get sauce, they were out of most of them. So nothing terrible, but they all added up to a bad experience and won't go back. I just wasn't a fan. Maybe it was because I came in an hour before closing. Or maybe it's because I am from the South and my bar for BBQ is higher. This is a fast casual BBQ joint so my expectations were already on the lower side. The pulled pork was more like a sloppy joe. It had been sitting in sauce for awhile rather than being pulled and the sauce added right before being served. Do they even BBQ anything here? My vinegar based pulled pork had a strong kick to it which I liked while my wife's pulled pork was the sweet version which was too sweet for my liking. Way too much sauce and you needed the bread to cut it. At least the portion size was decent for a sandwich and you felt like you got $11 worth of food. I also had a bone fragment and some gristle in my pulled pork which isn't normal for pulled pork. The baked beans were okay but nothing special. I also wasn't a fan of the cornbread. It had the texture of cake and felt like it came from a box rather than the grainy and coarse cornbread you get making it from scratch. Inside didn't feel welcoming to dine in either. Half the restaurant had chairs up and was closed off. If they wanted to signal that you should take out instead of dining in, message received! Needless to say, I felt bummed that I wasn't able to get a decent pulled pork sandwich after seeing the nice looking photos from other users. Not sure what happened here. I think if you're from or ever lived in the south you're gunna be disappointed with this place. I got the brisket based on others suggestions and found it wasn't very good. Kind of like a bland pot roast and the texture was really less than ideal. You also may not care for the cornbread if you're from the south. It was very cake-like, moist and springy. My disappointment aside, it seems that many northeasterners enjoy the food. I'm happy they do! But I'd rather boxed Lloyds than here, myself, unfortunately. read more

An amazing and unexpected surprise! I am not a person who drives around seeking BBQ places and just happened upon this spot as I had relative in a nearby hospital and I was looking to pick up some dinner on my way back to the hotel. Ended up sharing a half rack dinner with baked beans, coleslaw and corn on the cob as our sides. We started in on everything and were both amazed at how tender and excellent the ribs were. The corn was fresh, cooked perfectly and ready to douse with salt, just the way I like it and the baked beans and slaw were also excellent. Even though, we had plenty of food, I had a lingering desire to try the cornbread, which was also GREAT! Seems like a popular local spot. I eat very little beef according to my current diet but I treated myself to their brisket sandwich. As you can see there is nothing about the sandwich that is special at all. The brisket was somewhat tender but totally lacking flavor. Maybe I missed it but they offered no toppings. Without barbecue sauce I would have been totally disappointed. When I searched for catering, some places didn't deliver, some places didn't serve it hot (which didn't work for us because we were having it on location at Barrel House Z) and the prices at most were astronomically high. The person that took our request for the side condiments acted as though she could not hear me. But end the end she stated she would add them to our order. When our order arrived it was short an order. I called and complained and once again the woman on the phone acted hard of hearing. Let me add, when our food arrived, the top was flapping open in the bag. They looked good but were actually rather meh. Quite fatty and maybe even a little fatty. I'd not order that again. My tablemate had the beef brisket sandwich and it looked excellent. A very good portion and moist. I'd have that next time. For sides, the cucumber salad was excellent. Crisp thin sliced cucumber in a vinegar sauce that really cut the fat from the meal. Delicious. This is real authentic BBQ! I purchased the Bucket Sampler. For $40 it came with one tray of a whole chicken and another tray of ribs...y'all it's going on day 3 and I'm still trying to finish these trays! I haven't made much of their sides. The mac and cheese was okay. The collard greens weren't my favorite but I heard some of the other sides are better. But the real star of the show are the beef ribs. They are so tender and smokey..they practically melt in your mouth. I'm definitely recommend. 10/10 read more

Average bbq joint. Why is this place so busy and why do I frequent it so often? I love bbq and this is really the only legitimate option in the area. The prices tend to run on the higher side, but it still nicely satisfies the craving for ribs and meat. I usually opt for the rib sampler. You can also grab small orders of 3 ribs as the sides on the platters and combos are nothing to write home about, nor are they large portions. The father enjoys the pulled chicken sandwich and the wife enjoys the beef chili. Sadly, the bowl of chili seems to no longer come with a side of cornbread based on our experience the last 3 times. The place operates more as a takeout joint. Seating is limited and lowkey. They certainly do much better business than the BK or the Subway. It was the highlight of the meal for sure. The sides not so much though.. The baked mac and cheese was terrible. It for sure was no baked, and it was very watery and tasted Kraft. I didn't even eat it. The potato salad was pretty underwhelming as well. It was very bland with little to no flavor. It almost tasted like they were trying to be healthier with it. The cucumber salad was the best side by far. It was a bit on the sweet side, but still was pretty tasty. Overall, not the best experience.
