    July 09, 2026 menu

Greeted warmly as soon as I walked in. Sat on the patio since the weather was beautiful. Server gave me a detailed rundown of the menu and helped me decide on a few items. Went with 2 meat platter. Beef brisket was tender and fatty with a decent rub. Pulled pork was alright. It wasn't exciting or super flavorful. I always test my bbq without any sauce first to get the true flavor. Both meats require the use of sauce. Mac and cheese was very cheesy and yummy. Baked potato was perfect with sour cream. Overall, experience was fine and service was amazing.

Fabulous find on July 4th as a rain delay before summerfest. Friendly service, blues and yummy BBQ. Burnt end sausage sandwich and cornbread.

Went here for my birthday dinner and wow, it was great! We had Sawyer taking care of us that night and he was amazing. Very personable, knowledgeable, and attentive. Only downside was that the chefs weren't as quick, with drinks and our app taking a good while but that was no fault of our server's. The KC egg rolls were extremely flavorful and had just the right amount of crunch. The shack sampler included 1/2 rack of ribs, burnt end sausage, brisket, pulled pork, and chicken breast (all tasted awesome). The sides were simple in execution but the flavor was top notch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The seating itself is divided amongst the standard indoor and outdoor seating, along with a covered tent that has fireplaces during the cold months.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Was very comfortable outside despite freezing temperatures.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] All in all I highly recommend this place!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great spot for barbecue in the downtown area and loved the outdoor seating area![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside was cozy and rustic but on the warm fall night that we visited, soaking up the last of the warm evenings outdoors was ideal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dog friendly and a big screen tv too![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was friendly and patient, as we looked over the menu deciding on what to have. The smokey old fashioned paired nicely with the smoked chicken that I ordered. My sides of choice were the mac n cheese (so creamy & cheesy!!!) and the Brussel sprouts (with balsamic?). My favorite part of my meal was the Mac n cheese and the old fashioned but I'd return here if I was in the downtown area and in the mood for bbq!

This has been a long time bookmark and being a bbq hound if anyone follows me you know that I get bbq all over the country for many years over the course of my travels. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is small with a small bar and looks like a shack from one of those pictures of a single property that didn't sell out and each side has a huge building towering over it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Once again a single person is directed to have a bar seat which I instantly told my hostess noooooo, I'm not paying a premium price for bbq ribs with a 50% tip to eat at the bar and yes I'm a good tipper $10 and change for a $19 and change lunch. Service was good on my visit and the place is really small and cozy with a woody charm. I ordered the 1/2 rack of St. Louis ribs as the menu states because St. Louis ribs are twice as meaty as baby back ribs with two sides Coleslaw and pickles. My two sides being baked beans and Mac and cheese. Complete fail when my St. Louis rib plate hit my table because first off no coleslaw like the menu states and the St. Louis ribs were not traditional meaty ribs but flat like baby back ribs like a MDs M rib sandwich WTF. The St. Louis ribs were the most meatless St. Louis I have had in my bbq travels and any cooking with grocery store St. Louis ribs I have bought. Ok after the menu miss leading me let's talk about the food and a good thing that pictures don't lye because the ribs were flat as board for St. Louis style and not meaty but they were moist/smokey fall off the bone. The baked beans were super loose like a soup and sweet with next to no bbq meat in it like lots of bbq restaurants do. The Mac and cheese was bland/creamy and cooked to mush and like I always say a salty/sharp cheese should be used in Mac and cheese for depth and body. As a bbq hound who travels the country eating BBQ the menu and the food was a miss leading fail.

I don't care if my final destination is Boscobel, Wisconsin, I'm flying into MKE so I can hot Smoke Shack before driving west. Headed to Madison? Fly into MKE. Going to Green Bay? Flying into MKE. I think you hear my point. But you'll understand my point if you stop by Smoke Shack on your way to Anywhere, Wisconsin. Excellent meat, fabulous sides, great bottle selections in the bar. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Indoor/outdoor seating options, and a very convenient (pay) parking lot right across the street.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Date of visit: April 18, 2025 This has been a favorite in the past that I had neglected to review and wanted to waste no time with this visit letting fellow Yelpers know the score! We were here to celebrate our birthdays with a friend a bit past the actual days (because...well, life!) and I appreciated being able to make a reservation through OpenTable, though disappointed that even when you select "Birthday" that message doesn't always get through to the staff. Lucas was our server and while we had some longer waits and pauses in the meal, he was quite affable and was more than happy to answer any questions our friend had, this being her first time to the 'Shack. We started with the Burnt Ends appetizer, which had a healthy amount of meat on it, helping justify the higher price for the item. Loved the white barbecue sauce that it came with, just wish that there had been a little more of it for dipping as the drizzle wasn't the most generous. For the main event, I went with the Two-Meat platter and selected the burnt ends sausage with brisket, and sides of cornbread and mac + cheese. The mac and cornbread were very good, though the bread did have a hint of an aftertaste that I didn't love and was glad that the piece wasn't any bigger than it was. The meats were good though I don't know that I would have necessarily classified the sausage as "burnt ends." All in all, a good meal and I would definitely return yet again in the future!

Stopped here during a conference on a Saturday night in 2024. The wait staff were incredible! Caleb was awesome and was very attentive to us. First, their bourbon menu is extensive and reasonably priced so make sure to order something you wouldn't normally try. Drinks: I had the pecan old fashioned. It was really good! Not too heavy on the pecan flavoring and it didn't overpower or get overpowered by the bourbon. Starters: the CORNBREAD was a 11/10! The honey butter was the perfect topping as its sweet flavor oozed when you bit into the warm, moist bread. You need to get this. The PIG MAC was good. Typical Mac n cheese flavor (not super rich) and the meat was tender enough. It comes out without sauce so you have the option of which sauce you want to use on the table. 10/10 would recommend.

Definitely give Smoke Shack a visit if you are looking for some solid barbecue in Milwaukee. I got the nachos as my meal and they were loaded with meat, cheese and other toppings. No chip was plain which is exactly how I like my nachos. David got (but not pictured) the Pig Mac sandwich which had pulled pork and Mac and cheese. I would get this next time, or I would at least get a side of their Mac and cheese. They used cavatappi noodles which is the superior noodle to use for Mac and cheese. I really liked his sandwich and also their home fries were so good without any ketchup (and that's saying something as I smother all fries in ketchup). As an appetizer we tried the Kansas City eggrolls which I would definitely get again. Overall smoke shack was a fun place to check out. We enjoyed trying all their different homemade barbecue sauces as well. My personal fav was the Kansas City.

Smoke Shack is definitely the place to come to, if you want to finish off that long work week. Even on nights that you just want to chill out, and have a beer or cocktail then you have to come here. As for the food, even though the main thing here is smoked meats. There's still other of options, for people that prefer a meatless meal. The platter/combo meal we ordered was enough to feed 3 people. Everything was good, but my only complaint would be. I wish the ribs were a little more tender.

Food was great! We got the 1/2lb pulled chicken and full rack of ribs. Service was so-so but would eat there again.

    - delicious food, good service, cozy ambiance - no…read morereservation can be made for brunch - excited to come back for a sweet option Happy to get a seat at this tasty diner! With their rotating menu items and weekly specials, I am definitely coming back after having such a flavorful and fun meal. Waited about an hour on a busy Saturday since one of their locations was closed, but the food was well worth it! I had gotten Wolfie's Patty Melt and it was filling and a great start to our morning. The bread was nice and crisp from the buttered griddle and held everything together perfectly. Inside the crunchy sandwich were 2 seasoned patties and enough gooey cheese to make it rich, but not heavy. To contrast the fatty flavor, there was a slightly tart bacon jam and onions that were truly caramelized. Overall really tasty sandwich with no notes! In the description it says there is a sauce, but I could only taste the onions and jam, so I'm not too sure what it added. The side of fries was ok, but I think some crispy thinner ones would have been better with the sandwich. For my drink, I got a hot Ube Chai. The chai was strong and had a spicy kick to each sip. Already a subtle flavor, the ube was not very strong with the chai mixed in, but still added fun color. The design on top was also very cute and added another dink of sweetness. My girlfriend got the Spamelette for her main and it was pretty pretty and delish. Not too often that you see Spam, but when you see it, trust it earned its spot on a menu! The big chunks of Spam and accouterments gave each bite a pleasant feel and one full of flavor. I was skeptic of the mushrooms at first, but they were seasoned well and added another kind of texture to the meal. I think my favorite toppings were the drizzle of kewpie and the green onions... not sure if it counts as a topping, but the tamari glaze of the spam made it delish. Taste aside, it was also a pretty meal! Pook got a Hot Chocolate for her drink. Nice simple drink for the cold weather. We would have liked to see some more chocolatey flavor, but still a good milky drink for the meal. This drink also had a fun design and nice cream top, yum yum yum. This was such a tasty meal and they have lots of other options that I was debating on getting - I guess we gotta come back! It was a really cold day, but the cozy atmosphere and hot drinks with our food made it a great experience. We had originally planned on going to the Downtown location, but it was closed because of heating problems. I wish there was a bit more uniformity between their menus, especially since the Brewers Hill menu has different items and is smaller, so it feels like there is quite the difference between locations. Going off of that point, I am excited to try their dinner menu when it releases and see how it compares to when we ate Downtown! I am not sure how the places differ, but I felt the food here to be more flavorful than the other location. In addition to the dining area, they had a small shop and coffee area in the back while you waited for your table. It was fun and made time pass faster, but I feel as though that area is also perfect for dining. Maybe there are specific reasons why it isn't, but just a thought. Hope to come back soon!

Perfectly cooked medium rare steak with chimichurri, crispy-runny eggs, and excellent potatoes holding it all together. The food is thoughtfully plated without trying too hard, and the prices feel fair for the quality. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't been. Another lil Milwaukee gem!

Online it said both kinds of flights were included their special if the day, which was BOGO half off, but the staff told us the bloody flights were not included. We ordered a skillet, burrito, and harvest hash. Everything was great and came out quickly! What the restaurant is lacking is in overall aesthetic and cleanliness. It seems unfinished inside, has chipped paint, the canvas on the seats is ripping, and the floors were quite dirty where we were seated. We visited when there was only an hour left of them being open, and the staff made it seem like they were wanting to close up. We really wanted to Brunch It Up...we love a good brunch place...so much. We left wishing we'd gone…read moresomewhere else. Brunch It Up (possibly in the middle of rebranding to just "Brunch.") is a classic breakfast spot in downtown Milwaukee...we were there on a Sunday morning...high brunch time, and were seated quickly upstairs. The place had an overall run-down vibe to it...scuffed paint on the walls and a general feeling of not quite matching the quality of the upscale brunch spot implied by their modern logo. Menus...I normally don't comment on the menu itself but our table featured no less than 4 different menus...the regular menu, a drink menu, a specials menu and a mimosas menu...choices are wonderful, but the immediate reaction is this is a whole mess of menus on the table, and I don't know what to look at first. It felt haphazard. Let's move on to the coffee...Coffee is an essential part of the brunch experience. Even at a diner, you want it to be strong...the mug it came in was nice, but it was weak coffee. I need coffee to kick my butt, and if you're serving what's close to "browned water" at a breakfast place, you're missing the mark. How about the food? I can't fault them for the generosity of the portions, but will say individual dishes were way too much for my wife and I...we wish smaller portions were available, so so much didn't go to waste. My wife had the Egg and Waffle sandwich with waffle fries. It was fine. I had the Harvest Hash made with egg whites...the eggs were a little overcooked. (Egg whites require a thoughtful touch when cooking them so they are finished white and not browning all over.) There are plenty of fresh tomatoes, mushrooms, and peppers in there (I guess that's the extent of the harvest in Milwaukee) The hashbrowns it all sat on were undercooked. We were excited about the croissant beignets...Available were the regular ones with chocolate or strawberry dipping sauce, and a special with a fruit dipping sauce. They couldn't mix and match sauces, so we got the special. They were okay but a bit over-fried, losing the croissant texture altogether ...I mean, there's nothing wrong with deep-fried dough with sweet things to dip them in, but we do wish they hadn't fried the croissant out of them to give us the unique experience implied by the name. The menu has plenty to choose from...every breakfast savory or sweet thing you could imagine...and on the nicely designed, modern-looking menu at looks like it could be amazing...but everything we got, plus the experience of sitting in a place that felt a little rundown, left us overall disappointed.

Their website has a popup on the home page saying it comes with fried haddock, potato pancakes, applesauce, and rye bread, but the popup doesn't list the price and it isn't available through the online ordering function. I ended up calling in an order to go, substituting wheat bread for the rye, and also added a piece of lemon ginger coffee cake. The lemon ginger coffee cake tasted fine, but man was it dry. Like Sahara Desert dry. Maybe this was an anomaly and their other baked goods are better, but I'd be hesitant to try them based on this coffee cake. Even though the website says the side is potato pancakes with applesauce, my fish fry came with fries. They ended up being the best part of the meal, which I certainly wasn't expecting. Still, I was disappointed cause I prefer potato pancakes and was given their inclusion as an expectation. The wheat bread itself was ok, but the butter was oddly unsalted. The fish, of which there was three pieces, was battered with a hint of beer, but like the butter for the bread there was no salt to speak of in the batter. As much as I didn't enjoy the unsalted butter for the bread, not having salt in the batter for the fish managed to be more unpleasant. Maybe Blue's Egg should just stick with serving breakfast items instead of adding something temporary that they clearly aren't pros at.

We quite literally came here straight from the airport. To make matters worse, we had not eaten anything substantial all day and had actually looked this restaurant up weeks before our trip while researching places to eat the infamous Wisconsin fish fry, so we were really looking forward to the experience. The experience started off poorly when our party was essentially scolded by the hostess for sitting at a table that apparently needed to be cleaned for the wait list. To make matters worse, the busser laughed and joked that we were "in trouble," to which I could only respond, "Sounds like it." Not exactly the welcoming atmosphere you'd hope for as a first time visitor. The fish fry was decent our tab came out to $150 for 5 people, but the service was absolutely subpar and our tip reflected that. Overall, this was a very disappointing dining experience. Between the unprofessional treatment, lackluster service, and cleanliness issues, I would not recommend stopping here. There are plenty of other restaurants worth trying instead.
