We initially met and discussed everything from plates and silverware to bbq sauce. The owner wrote it all down, took our deposit and then lost the paper and didn't remember he booked the event!!! Flash forward to day of event. We ask for square plates discussing at length the tiny plates that we did tasting off of and how we didn't care for those. Told there was a size a little larger we would have at the wedding. When they set the tables the dinner plate was the same as those used for hors d'oeuvres with the smallest ROUND mismatched plate set on top for salad. We had linen napkins set out they lay to the side and placed paper wrapped plastic silverware on top. Water was supposed to be on the tables was never refreshed. The Bbq sauce that we had discussed at length was not on the tables only 20 prefilled little cups were available after I asked for them. We paid extra for family style table service. This was the most unorganized service. They didn't utilize trays but carried out two bowls to a table at a time. It was a very long drawn out process. We discussed the need for a bartender was assured one was available to us for the entirety of the reception. Then day of the wedding was told they would be leaving before the end of the reception and that we needed to pay additional money to the bartenders for them to stay. We made our own desserts but requested paper products for dessert table so they would match other plates. These were the same plates we ate dinner off of. They ran out quickly and then was told they weren't contracted to provide those. I stated we had discussed it, but the owner wasn't there so our dessert table didn't have plates until they dug some out of the van..The same little square plates!!

Communication was good, the food was good, meeting up with them and planning was good. However, the day of they served food for an hour and then stopped serving. They then proceeded to throw out all the left over food. Our guests got one plate, didn't have enough time to get seconds before everything was thrown out. Mind you, we booked them as a caterer for a BUFFET service. They also ran out of drinks 30 minutes into the meal, and they said they "did what they were required to do". Our guests were thirsty and it wasn't until we had to have a very strong discussion with them that they went out to get more beverages. The groom had to be pulled on his special day to deal with this. Unfortunately, the wedding day was during an unexpected heat wave. Imagine that, no drinks during a heat wave? Not even water? A caterer running out of beverages during a heat wave with paid buffet service? When we went to the food tasting and left our deposit with them, they assured us that they would give us any left overs. They even suggested it would be good to bring it to the bridal party for them to eat the next day before heading home. That was a great idea, but they threw it all out. This was a big concern of ours, and they reassured me they were not like other caterers saying, "It's your food. You paid for it. It's yours." They then stated that "legally" they could not give us the food unless we had a refrigerator. We explained that the venue had a refrigerator, and they just brushed it off. They also jacked up the price by about 20% because they said they would have to hire more help to work the day of the wedding to meet requirements. However, we only saw 1 extra person from their team working there. While we weren't happy about it, we understood and we paid it trusting that everything would be taken care of. The owner was very rude, disrespectful, loud, and vulgar the day of the wedding. It was completely unwarranted and unexpected because up until then, they were great. Super kind and easy going, until the day of. They did not even let us know that drinks were running low, so that we could find a solution. We didn't find out until we were bone dry, and at that point we had a problem. Would I recommend their food? Absolutely. Very delicious. Best BBQ I ever had. Would I recommend their service? No. Sadly, they did not deliver. By the end of the night our guests were hungry, and thirsty. Not something you would expect when you pay for a premium buffet service. I am fully aware they may try to respond to this and give all the excuses as to why they did this. One of them saying that we paid "late". They require payments a month before-hand, but with the current global situation, we didn't even know we were having a wedding until 3 weeks before the date. However, we gave him the money agreed upon at that point. We paid full the day of the wedding. We complied to their requests. We provided everything they asked. Don't let their kindness fool you. It was not worth the stress the day of the wedding. It was not a good experience for the bride, the groom, the family, or the guests. ***They partner with a wine-slushy company. They were great. Good pricing and he even gave us free wine for our guests because of the situation. He even brought extra wine just in case. We ended up paying extra for it, but it was needed and we were happy to pay for it. They were prepared for the heat wave, and we recommend them fully.

First, because I awoke deciding that I wanted some Sancocho. I'm giving them a 5- because I had the entire experience. It's a tropical root vegetable stew with beef. I was Making it with pork. I'm a rebel like that. Anyway, for a call from brother and his wife that they will be stopping by in two hours. TWO! So after shopping for tropical root veggies - Yucca, Malanga, Llame, Platano Verde, Malanga, Yautia, Patata, Platano Maduro, and calabasa. I picked up some Cilantro and some Culantro! CULANTRO! It's cilantro on steroids. It's specific. And O was looking for it in East Los Angeles and Orange County, CA - and did not find it for years if not decades. Anyway. They got it here!! Anything you need to cook anything Latino/Hispanic recipe - you'll find here. Anyway, I head home and it hits me. The smells I experienced while shopping were stuck in my head. Got home, picked up my mother and my brother and his wife, and headed back. We walked in to find some people start to enter the restaurant section. I will say with confidence they offer over 28 FULL PANS (Chafing dishes) and a few other things. I will not list them because I am going to guess that some items change. Everything was delicious. WAAAY too many to list! And the Tamarind Slushie...WTF!? Tasty!! My one criticism is that I wish the foods were HOTTER than they were. Most of the items - except for the Sancocho - were room temperature at best. (Turn up the heat folks!! Better safe than sorry.) PROS: We found out about them because of the "Adopt a Highway" signage near Ricketts Glenn State Park. They were open when we wanted to visit and stayed open until 7pm on a Saturday. Wine tasting is free. My husband liked the wine he tasted enough to purchase 3 bottles of different wines. For him, that says a lot but he can write his own review. CONS: The building reminds you of a country general store -- signage is primitive and rustic and it has a big porch filled with "stuff". The inside reminds you of a country general store gone qwirky. There is a long bar with stools -- some with backs, some without (and quite wobbly) -- amidst a room full of "stuff" -- really weird stuff, not usually found in a winery but more like someone just collects weird "stuff' and had no place for it at home. Wine tasting is in ittsy bitsy plastic containers reminiscent of Baptist communion containers (further reminiscent of said communion when served Concord wine in them). Our host for the wine tasting was polite but quite non-interested in engaging in conversation or making a sale. I did check their FB page before coming here to make sure it was open. "Yay", I thought. A recent post within a couple weeks said they intended to have live entertainment on Saturdays. Not yet, evidently, or if it was going to be outdoors, this was a rainy day. Their FB page also indicated they had food. Ummm, hotdogs is listed on a sign above the wine tasting bar and is not really the cuisine one thinks of to pair with wine and the stale pretzels offered was lame. To be "fair", our host did refresh the stale pretzels by pouring fresh ones on top of the stale ones. Yay. BOTTOM LINE: The wine was nothing special in my opinion. And the ambiance? Oh good grief! I wore a dress to the winery (ok, I'm out of town and my view of any winery I've ever gone to is way different than this town's view or this winery at least) to sit on a wobbly bar stool and drink wine out of church communion cups. Perhaps the lack of ambiance or low-energy wine server got in the way of the taste of the actual wine for me. Who knows. Advice? If you're looking for something to do after your wonderful waterfall hike at Ricketts Glenn State Park? Watch tv in your hotel room or go to your hotel's bar. Seriously, this won't thrill you.

I have never been winetasting before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The wine tasting was free. Wine was served in little plastic shot glasses. After we were done trying the different wines, we opted to purchase a couple bottles and drink them at the bar. The wine was pretty excellent. There were mostly sweet options. My favorite options were the Lake Jean White and the Red Rocket. The decor is super quirky, almost roadside attraction like, but I do not mean that in a derogatory way. There are lots of interesting things to check out while you try your wine, and most of the decorations and items are for sale. I purchased a pair of antlers along with my bottle of wine as a keepsake from the weekend. Another girl in our group bought a vintage looking cigar advertisement. There are lots of cool paintings and weird masks, etc. Our hosts/bartenders, Katherine, Elizabeth, and Eric, were very accommodating, friendly and entertaining. The one downside is that there is not an indoor restroom - there's a porta potty outside. Not the worst, though, as it was very clean. If you're more into a snooty type of wine tasting experience, maybe skip this place. But if you don't take yourself too seriously, you like good wine, and you want to have an awesome afternoon, definitely check out the Lopez Winery. I know I'll be back!

We managed to check out a pop up business that sold the best selection of wines. We got a bottle each of cranberry and lemon wine. Both were exceptional. Nice guy too. He actually ships, so I might have to reorder online.
