Tried this for the first time - it's barely ok. I really wanted to like it because it looks fantastic, but not so much. The green beans just tasted like pepper and all the other things tasted the same. We tried the Carolina Pork and Hot Mess with brisket.....appropriately named (lol). Actually, it was probably the best out of it all. Surprised by the mac and cheese which was pretty good. Although I think I'd prefer fries as base of the Hot Mess. I'd suggest getting the Mac n cheese on the side. Baked beans were good, although I didn't find many in that bowl. Although I likely will not try it again - expensive and not that good, I still recommend give it a try yourself. I think it will be to some people's likings. read more

I got the brisket sandwich with fries. The chopped brisket was very good but the bun was cold, like refrigerator cold. A hot sandwich should not be served on a cold bun. The fries were well seasoned and crispy. I wound up dumping the meat off my sandwich onto my fries and not eating the bun. It was better that way. Overall it was a decent meal but I can't give it five stars because of the cold bun. read more

Stopped by this food truck for lunch yesterday since it was close to work. Everything was great! The ordering process was fast, efficient and friendly. I ordered the pulled pork combo with 2 sides and a drink for $11. The pulled pork was so tender and delicious! I tried the regular and spicy bbq sauces and both were great. The shell mac and cheese was yummy and sinful. The green beans were pretty good but maybe needed a touch more flavor..salt? Overall I would definitely recommend Smokeout BBQ and would love to try more menu items next time thier nearby. read more

Welcome to Pickerington, SmokeOut BBQ! I'll give it 4.5 stars and my wife gives it 3.5 for an average of 4. Portions are generous. We both ordered brisket sandwiches and shared sides of fries, mac and cheese, and green beans. The brisket was tender and moist, and very flavorful. The rub is simple, but the pepper taste really comes through. The fries would have been better fresh, instead of take home. The mac and cheese was thick and creamy, but again peppery. The green beans are like your favorite aunt would make and include bacon. Prices are very reasonable for the quality that you get. I'll be sure to try the wings, ribs and pulled pork in the future. From the moment I opened the box, I could not stop eating long enough to take a photo. If you don't know me, I photograph it all. I think that is enough to say why 5 stars were given. The staff and owner were super friendly and helpful to everyone in line. Prepared food, compiled into a box in rapid form keeps that food truck line of customers moving fast. I am super excited to see a calendar of dates that SOBBQ will be bringing their food truck by once a month. I already know I'm trying the brisket next time. This meal was a partitioned styrofoam box with generous weight for $10. A substantial value. I had the pulled pork sandwich, mac n cheese, and slaw, with an included drink. The pork is estimated at better than 7oz, spilling out of the bun. *Pro Tip- ask for the bun on the side to prevent sogginess. The Mac n Cheese was made with smooth creamy cheese and small shells. I wish it had more seasoning, but the flavor is neutral for the masses. It's hard to complain about pockets of pasta that hold extra crevices of cheese. I remember the slaw as being coarse chop carrots and cabbage with mildly sweet, creamy dressing. Let's be honest. If you're going to SOBBQ, you're there for the carnivorous factor. Nice bark, with great smoke ring. Very moist and not fatty. That low & slow procedure breaks down that fatty tissue to keep everything tender. The sauces- I have to be neutral on these. I squirted the hot bbq on my meat and started devouring. The flavor was good, but I should have got it on the side to taste it on their own. This review is based solely on preference. Their food truck was near my job today so I posted for everyone to go since I'm a food truck fanatic. It was my first time trying it. I decided to get the brisket, Mac n cheese and cole slaw. It came with a regular hamburger bun, a side of sauce and a can of soda or water. The brisket was just okay. I feel like it was not a large enough portion. I also didn't care for the seasoning of the brisket. The BBQ sauce tastes like ketchup with pepper in it. I also prefer my brisket sliced. But they do advertise that it is chopped. The cole slaw was creamy and vinegary. It wasn't bad but I prefer it to be a little sweet. The Mac n cheese I think was the biggest disappointment. The noodles were under cooked and stuck together. They use big shells so most of mine was several shells stuck into each other. I was pretty disappointed. Passing through on our way from Pittsburgh to Louisville and needed a place to stop for dinner. Yelp steered us here and we were so glad that it did. Spotless inside and super friendly staff who were patient and helpful as we decided what to order. My husband and I shared the sampler with three meats (we selected brisket, pork and chicken) and two sides (we selected Mac n cheese and green beans). The kids meal was a generous portion of meat and a full size side, along with a beverage. Our older daughter got a chicken sandwich- also a very generous portion. The chef has perfected ribs. They are well seasoned and fall off the bone. This spot has a drive through which is super convenient and easy to take out a delicious meal. The brisket fell short for us, a bit dry and disappointing after the bar set by the ribs. Sides are pretty good which is always hit or miss with a bbq joint. Smoked meat and barbecue is more my man's thing than mine, but I decided to give the food truck thing one more try. O.M.G.!!! I got the sampler, which came with the choice of three meats and two sides. I chose brisket, pork and chicken. With coleslaw and baked beans as my sides. They only let you chose one sauce on the side, but when I asked they included more for free. This place did not disappoint! Smoke Out BBQ was one of the three contestants in the "Food Truck Challenge To Benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society". Their meat options were pulled pork, pulled chicken, or beef brisket. They offered several side options. I opted for the sampler platter which is 2 meats (pork and brisket), 1 side (mac & cheese), and a drink for $11 or $12 (I forgot). The fellas working the truck were pretty fast and pleasant. The mac & cheese was pretty good. Nothing more to say about it; just a good take on mac & cheese. The stars of the show were of course the meats. Both the beef and pork were moist and tender with noticeable smokiness. I believe the sauce was mustard based, and it was a little sweet. I would have enjoyed a little more of it as it only covered some of the top layer. Out of the two trucks I tried this was my favorite, and I will seek them out again when I'm looking for BBQ. read more

I'm not sure how I forgot to leave these guys a very enthusiastic 5 star review after they catered my wife & I's wedding receiption last summer. We started off by sampling a few different bbq places before we made our decision. We were ready to book before we'd even finished our lunch from the food truck. We had a pretty large catering order (like 70lbs of meat alone) and our venue was over an hour from their location. We were concerned about quality/temperature of the food coming from that distance, but they did NOT disappoint! All of the food was hot, juicy, smokey and fresh. I don't think there is any way we could've been more pleased. The mac & cheese is rich, creamy and delicious. It's damn near a meal in itself! The baked beans & potatoes were both awesome as well. Now, on to the meat. We had chicken, brisket & pulled pork. All three were delicious. I can't believe I'm actually going to say this, but the chicken was my favorite. Who knew?! It was smoky, moist and delicious. Normally, chicken isn't a blip on my radar from a bbq joint. But, we wanted to have options, and it did not disappoint. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! In all seriousness, their bbq sauce is fan-f@$#ing-tastic. I'm talking smack your momma good! It's homemade, and for me, it's the perfect blend of sweet & tangy. Absolutely fantastic. My friend even ordered some more catering from him for a football party a few months after the reception, and everything was just as good. I will say that tracking down when/where the truck will be could be better. But, if you see it, stop in and get some, you won't be disappointed. Also, if you're thinking about catering, John, the owner, was amazing to work with. They even offered full service for our party of around 100. I just posted a pic of the most succulent smoked chicken that you will ever eat! Not only is the pork,brisket and ribs phenomenal these chickens are to die for when John makes them it's a real treat! We made grilled burritos with ours on the second and last day we had them the smoke flavor comes through the chicken like nothing you will ever taste.Oh and his homemade sauce is great,but for me the spicy mustard is where it's at ..
