Atmosphere was on point. Very clean, it looks brand new but it has been around for a few years. Food was very good nice taste on the house sauces. I recommend to just get the sampler with Jalapeño sausage. Bob greets you and takes your order. Made good recommendations since this was my first time here. Pretty darn good. Well off our normal paths, but we were out this way and it was handy. And the kid likes bbq- well, mac and cheese, and you can almost always find it at a bbq place. Handy just off the highway, and out of traffic on a road around the corner. Big open building, bright and airy- but, lots of echos and background noise inside with the metal ceiling, metal chairs, etc. Super friendly and patient service. They had a $1 wing special, so I of course had to try those. Got 5 with Cajun garlic sauce- a little heat, good sauce, great wings. Meaty and tender, and crisped up nice. Also got a brisket sandwich, chopped (you can get sliced.) Loads of meat, nicely diced. Tender and flavorful; doesn't need sauce. But they have three and I tried them. None amazing, all good. My favorite was the Bold Gold, darker and richer than most mustard sauces, with a bit of heat. Kid K got the mac and liked it. A little black pepper in it, which might put some kids off but it wasn't overwhelming. Loved the fries. Crispy, tasty. Drinks are just cans and bottles. Prices are a little high, but then, servings were big and prices are high everywhere, and it's bbq so it's worth it. Classic BBQ sandwiches or ribs along with an eclectic selection of their own creativity are on the menu. It's a "order as you enter" style of dining but those at the front counter know their menu and are on-point when they say, "It's hard to make recommendations here because everything is great!" The cheese and bacon fries were just okay, the cheese sauce threw me off a bit. But I tried one of my son's regular fries that didn't have cheese sauce and it was better without the cheese and bacon in my opinion, so next time I will just get regular fries. My wife and I decide to try it yesterday and we will definitely be back. Service was fast and very welcoming. My wife had a brisket sandwich with mac and cheese. I had the sampler with ribs, pulled pork and sausage with Mac and cheese and baked beans. We both really enjoyed the meal. The meats were well smoked and very moist. The sides were both good. Service was prompt, cordial, and accurate. You order from a menu board when you enter and seat yourselves. No freebie drinks, cans or bottles, even water! Coke products (a plus for me). The food and sauces were all acceptable. Nothing we found exceptional, but, no real objections either. The corn bread is cake like and a finer, moister texture than most! The wings shown in my picture have the spicier sauce of the two they offer. I thought it pretty tame, my daughter thought it hot... My daughter thought the pork or the fries had to much salt. However she uses no salt. My daughter thought it was pricey (about $35) for the two of us. However, the portions were large enough that we each took a container home. So if you look at it as 4 meals it wasn't bad. There is no real reason we wouldn't go again. But, we'd probably not make it a priority either read more

I just received an incorrect order from this location. I spent $50 on wings and other items. I wasn't given my sauces. I spoke to the manager and explained I live almost 30 minutes away and am upset because I don't want dry wings. He said the best he could do was offer 50 cents for my troubles. (An absolute joke for almost an hour of drive time.) This place has horrible customer service. When told I was going to be leaving this review they still didn't care. I like supporting small businesses but not one like this, one that doesn't actually care about their customers. On top of the poor service, the food wasn't even worth this annoyance. Everything was way too salty and dry like it sat in warmers all day. It's a shame, this pace was really good a few months ago. This place recently took over the old ramen restaurant that was here. Very limited menu to pork, chicken, brisket and nice sides like Mac and cheese and green beans. It smelled incredible as soon as we walked in, nice and smoky. I ordered the one pound of wings and it came out to $14.20 for seven medium sized wings. I was charged for an extra sauce that I didn't ask for, they asked me if I wanted a sauce and saw that you got one free on the menu. When I picked up my food they said sauce was on the table, could be since they are still new and getting used to POS system. The wings were medium size and I asked for light dry rub, they were pretty much 3/4 covered. Flavor was good and the crunch of the skin was nice. Overall for the cost, I would probably stick with the brisket or pulled pork. Hope this place does great and I'll be back to try the remainder of the menu. read more

The service wAs polite and quick but the food was underwhelming. I got the sampler for $15 which included 3 meat and 2 sides. The value was pretty good. For my meats, I got dry rub wings, brisket and pulled pork. For sides I got Mac and cheese and baked beans. Starting with the meats, the brisket a seemed over-salted. It was juice but the salt was overpowering. The pulled pork was a little dry and didn't have much flavor. The wings were the best of the 3, but they were relatively small in size. Decent flavor. On to the sides, the Mac and cheese was ok at best. Like so many other reviewers have pointed out, there isn't much flavor. They could easily add another type of cheese or something to add flavors or even a little crunch from bread crumbs. The baked beans were good, but maybe a little on the sweet side. I did try their traditional bbq sauce which had an odd consistency. If you're in a pinch for time and they happen to be in the parking lot, give them a try. This has become one of my favorite food trucks in Columbus. I've had just about everything on the menu, so I think I've got a pretty good handle on the place. First off, Derek is a great guy and super friendly, so the customer service is always on par. On top of that, he really knows what he's doing with the barbeque. The brisket and pulled pork are super juicy, and I especially love the Carolina pulled pork sandwich with the cole slaw and homemade vinegar sauce. I throw the mustard sauce on there as well, and it all goes together really well. If you're looking to really get your money's worth, go with The Hot Mess, which is just a meat of your choosing layered over mac and cheese and beans. If you go for lunch and try to finish this, you'll probably have a hard time staying awake the rest of the afternoon, so good luck. It can easily be split into two meals. My favorite thing here though, and these drive this place up to a 5 star on their own, is the wings. They are probably some of the best wings in Columbus. They're smoked and crispy but still tender and juicy on the inside, and the dry rub that goes on them is just so good. The garlic buffalo is the other option, and I don't know which one I like more. These sell out pretty quickly, so you'll want to scope out where the truck will be and get there early. I probably shouldn't be telling people that, but oh well. I'm hoping he gets a brick and mortar spot, because it would be waiting for the truck to come around for lunch every few weeks! Although, that does make the anticipation that much higher. It was time to head out to Pickerington to check out a new brick and mortar restaurant by the owner of the food trailer SmokeOut Bbq. Met with Derek Johnson the owner. What a great design and decorations for the space. When the weather is right they have huge roll up garage style doors. On to the food. I ordered the chopped brisket, baked beans, Mac and cheese, coleslaw and cornbread. Cornbread was a super moist portion, quite tasty. Coleslaw is a creamy style with celery seeds mixed in. Yummmm. The baked beans our made with a hearty sauce with some pepper mixed in for a great taste. Macaroni and cheese is made with a nice thicker cheese sauce with the same pepper added to it. Delicious!! On to the star of the show, the. Brisket. It is a chopped Brisket with a great hearty taste to it. Super moist. Love it.
