Tried both caffeinated and decaffeinated and both were extremely bitter and acidic. Enough that it cuts through a sweet latte's milk and syrup. There are a multitude of reasons why it can get so bitter, but you go to a shop so you get something done well. Also they have a "you do you" mask policy which as we all know isn't a public health method that works, and none of them were wearing them anyways. We won't be back for a long time, perhaps they will have sorted out their espresso problems. I'd keep driving and go to to Strong Style coffee instead. read more

Really cute place to go to!the customer service was great, it is a bit pricey which is nothing they can control you have to be willing to spend the money for a good coffee. Stopped in for an iced coffee after spotting the sign .....what a hidden gem!!! We were vacationing in Ma and boy do I wish I found this place when we first got there ! The half caff lavender iced latte with oat milk was amazing !!! Staff was super helpful and attentive. I never knew a town like Lunenburg, MA had so many beatnik adults. Maybe that's why I left 30 years ago. My high school classmates are still talking about the Thanksgiving Day football game we lost to North Middlesex in 1989. At least the good and the baristas are knowledgeable about flavor profiles, country of origin, and brew temperatures. Good pastry too. Stick to the coffee. Really cool space. There's a lot going on with local art and funky decor. The couch was so comfortable! They have a huge list of flavors, including some harder to find sugar free ones. They also had a nice assortment of baked and savory goodies. I went with the sugar free cookie dough cold brew and it was fantastic. I also tried a piece of quiche (nicely warmed up) and it was so flavorful - definitely would purchase again! Plenty of parking, seating and good prices along with friendly staff. Hands down, some of the best coffee I've ever had. My first time here was the other day before a doctors appt and the receptionist looked over and said where did you get that coffee? I can smell it from here, smells fantastic! And it is fantastic, strong, dark, and very aromatic! I got the iced mocha and broccoli/ sweet potato frittata. Having a gluten sensitivity I very much appreciate the entire gluten-free case. They up-charge 1$ for dairy alternatives but I'd rather pay the extra .30 in support of small business than starbucks, etc. On this occasion I brought my laptop to get some work done. I would have stayed longer and picked up something else from the GF case to sample and graze on but I was completely frozen out! It was around 830am and maybe 70 outside but couldn't have been a degree over 64 in there. Also, there were internet problems :/ The wifi service was in and out the entire time and the music was horribly skipping for ~50% of the time I was there. Very difficult working environment. Above average food and coffee for the grab and go! 4/5 for atmosphere. read more

Like many reviewers, I accidentally found myself at Smokestack while stranded at Safelite. A busy place on a Saturday morning but for good reason--the pastry case is packed with sweet and savory treats for all, even the gluten-free crowd. I felt my eyes well up when I learned there are four different kinds of chai and free books. The staff could not have been nicer. When my order was up, the barista handed me the three pastries I could not decide between and exclaimed "we're so excited for you." Gosh, I'm excited for me, too! Word on the street is you gotta check out the new coffee spot, they make the best coffee, they were right! Tried the iced mocha, strong but not too strong with a smooth texture. I had to get the oatmeal cookie which was also good. They have a separate case for gluten free items too. OMG HALLELUJAH. Do not sleep on this. A coffee house that roasts and sources their own beans in house (depending on the day you might walk in to the scent of roasting beans), can produce reliable latte art with great microfoam, the coffee has the crema, they know the difference between a flat white and a latte, they do fancy fun sweet coffee drinks too if that's what you're after, the quiches and baked goods are pretty amazing with interesting seasonal flavors that change up with moods and seasons and ingredients and they have a wide variety of spaced out seating if you want to sit and work on the wifi or just read the newspaper. It's got a warehouse feel and this being a mom & pop they don't have the downtown chic warehouse polished cement and fancy lighting- so it doesn't have that kind of style if you are looking for that (I, admittedly, was) but what it lacks in super expensive flooring and lighting it makes up for in warmth, taste, variety and HOSPITALITY. That's right. You're in the country now, there is hospitality folks. Line up, chit chat with your barista, and share some smiles with your cold brew. (And they sell beans and cold brew as well as a limited/curated selection of coffee accruements) There is also an area for kids to play in, a HUGE selection of children's story books, high chairs for toddlers, and a communal (adult book) library. They sell local artists' artwork and photography and I just think this spot is a major win for the area. Tried this place after having it on my list for a while --did not disappoint! I got a white chocolate cold brew and a maple apple muffin which were both so yummy. My mom got a dulche de leche cold brew with an almond puff pastry which were great as well! Their inside is well taken care of with lots of seating and a steady flow of customers. The taste of their cold brew is unlike any I've had before (and I've tried quite a few lol) and I will definitely be coming back! Their ginger peach and Iced Carmel Latte is what the wife and I get when we go. It's a little bit of a wait but not so dramatic like Moe says it is.
