So I ordered a burger #20 same price as the steak . When we got our bill they charged us or the steak replacement. When I asked the manager about it she said that I ate the majority of the steak . Which was a lie and a joke. THEN SHE SAID " IF YOU DONT PAY THIS BILL IM CALLING THE POLICE ' ! SO RUDE AND SHOCKING ,never have i seen this behavior. Walked into Smokey Bones in Maumee with an appetite and left with regret. From the moment we stepped in, it felt like we were inconveniencing the staff just by existing. Made a table reservation and in special instructions I put in the my wife and I were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. No congrats, nothing. The food, as always, is good, with hardy portion sizes. The Mag Nachos never disappoint. Fully loaded with toppings and fully loaded with flavor. The Crowd Pleaser gives you a smaller portion and variety of apps. The Mini Mag, the wings, and the fried pickles with house made ranch, is definitely a pleaser you want to sample. My daughter raved about the Brisket Stuffed Grilled Cheese, in fact, there was so much brisket, she could top her Mac n Cheese. Service was excellent. When you are hungry for BBQ, this place is a good choice. Food : 4/5 I always choose ribs, even though the menu has many more choices. Short ribs and Baby back ribs are both available in full slabs, 2/3 slabs, and 1/3 slabs. If your crowd doesn't like ribs, I'd recommend the BBQ Chicken. The ribs are cooked until the meat practically falls off the bone when you attack it with your fork. There are choices of sauces at the table. I don't like mustard, chipotle pepper, or Vinegar sauces so I go with the sweet brown sugar/tomato sauce, but the other sauces are there. The whole slab is big enough to split with someone else. The sides are pretty standard fare--baked beans, slaw, corn, 2 kinds of potatoes, Brunswick stew, and others. There are menu choices of adding a second meat, called a "fav". Meals come with a slice of garlic toast. We enjoyed the meal so much that we weren't able to eat dessert. Service 5/5 Our server had to serve at the bar as well as serve our table. She was very pleasant and efficient. Ambience 4/5 Clean, casual with BBQ decor Location 3/5 It's is very easy to get to the restaurant if you are driving on the safe side of the street but if you are in the other side of the street it's a long block and a U-turn to get back to the restaurant because the median is not divided. I ordered takeout from here and it was terrible, I've been coming here for years and I've never had as bad of service as recently. I ordered my usual the smokehouse Mac and cheese with pulled pork which costs around 20 dollars itself. It has always came with spiral Mac and Cheese in a white sauce but this time I was given a children's boxed Mac and cheese that was very watery and not heated up correctly, there were chunks of watery cheese all throughout it and huge chunks of not pulled pork on top. When I went in and asked about the fact that it was not the correct Mac and cheese I was told that's all that they had, if they ran out I wouldn't have ordered it because paying 20 dollars for boxed children's Mac and Cheese is ridiculous. First visit in years, probably because the last visit did not go so well either. At least they are consistent, it turns out to be a bit of Groundhog Day, if you will. First thing to hit us, or we hit it, was the large pothole in the entrance, the experience was downhill from there. Walking through the front door a funk permeates the air, a mix of grease and a damp musty scent from what might be a poorly maintained AC unit, assaults the nose, dropping the appetite a few notches. Ok, seated quickly so we can get past the unpleasantries thus far. Fairly vacant of customers, so thought, ok, must be early and should bode in our favor, bad assumption. Waitress was timely, however, a bit unpleasant, disinterested, and standoffish. Put off by our not being ready to order because what we came for was no longer on the menu which was still advertised on their website, and needing to make another selection in place of their menu error, she took our order. Waiting patiently [30 minutes] for two simple sandwiches and fries, only to find out, only fries for my wife's order, the disinterested waitress failed to take my wife's order properly. No apologies, no offers to make it right, or maybe put in a rush order for the blown original request, nothing. She returned only once to drop off the check, no thank you, no pleasantries or curiosity whatsoever. This may sound as though this review falls on the waitress, but it does not, Smokey Bones and their Parent Company are equal in this poor review, the store and its property are in disrepair. The staff is poorly trained or poorly monitored for customer service performance, either way, the results were the same. Nonetheless, the server must accept responsibility for her own shortcomings. Obviously, whether the Groundhog Day Phenomenon, a jinx, coincidence, or a habitual occurrence of Smokey Bones, there will be no more visits as we have permanently removed Smokey Bones from our list of acceptable restaurants. read more

I like the food here. Had a bbq chicken sandwich once before (seems to have been replaced on the menu by a new chicken sandwich) and it was good. This time the quarter chicken was excellent, baked beans were good, and the wedges were ok although their appearance had me questioning what they would taste like. Very dark. And I feel like they should give you cornbread, not garlic bread. Beer selection here is not great, so I didn't bother either time. Service was excellent both times. We went during the $9.99 half rack special. The ribs were absolute trash. Im used to having ribs fall off the bone. These had to be gnawed off and they must have come off of the skinniest animals available, as there was hardly any meat at all. I guess they are going to get their moneys worth. Anyway, the mac and cheese is a joke. It was basically crunchy noodles with nothing on them. The server (who was attentive) had the kitchen "remake" them, but all they did was toss some shredded cheese on the top, making it even weirder. The one good thing was the loaded baked potato, but thats pretty hard to screw up. We were sat by the bar and the bartender and our server were acting like complete idiots during the meal. He was super loud and very annoying. Perhaps they do better when the prices are at the normal point. Anyhow, i probably will never find out. read more

Waitress got to us and said sorry, "I didn't know you were here." After about 20 min, we finally had menus. My husband had had a beer from the bar when we sat and asked for another it never came. The ribs were inedible. This place is called Smokey Bones! Firstly, the "skin" on the back of the ribs was still attached. Secondly, I couldn't get the meat off the bone. It was like they grilled them and forgot to cook them. The rest of the way. I order Mac and Cheese as a side and it was as if they took dry pasta and put it in a bowl. Saturday, June 8 6:00 PM. We were a party of 10 celebrating a friends 59th birthday. We had a slight wait as they needed to clean the area, no worries. Our first indication that things might not go well was how filthy and sticky the floor was. Our shoes LITERALLY stuck to the floor! You could hear the suction sound as we walked and you could see the stickiness in the sunlight. (I swear they said they were cleaning up the area before we were able to sit down.) All was going ok (we thought) after we sat down. Our drinks were a bit slow to get to us, no worries, but...I was given the first of two wrong drinks. Others drinks arrived late or had to be requested again. Must be really busy, right? Wrong! When it came time to order food, all seemed to be going ok. Several salads were ordered, a bowl of stew and a bowl of chili and our main meals. After awhile two of the salads arrive. Then someone's full dinner was presented right as she began to eat her salad. ??? She was also sharing a meal and it took quite some time to get the extra plate. Then the stew arrived. But still no chili. More dinners arrive, but one salad is missing as well as the chili. Requests were made for both. The salad showed up (the meal was already on the table) as well as two of the smallest plates to eat the Bone Fire they ordered. Why???? The chili showed up but was in a cup. Cup? Bowl?? I suppose the two words sound alike. (Ha!) That went back so a bowl could be brought out. When that finally arrived the server stated "It was marked as a to-go order". Um, ok, but why did it come out as a cup first then??? No need to lie! Next several people ordered more drinks...and I did not. I DID NOT ORDER ANOTHER DRINK. I'm clear, right? Except I got another sangria THAT I DID NOT ORDER. WTF? Two drinks I never ordered given to me. Meanwhile several who ordered water never got them. Now on to the food. I will only speak for myself and my husband even though I know things were wrong with several other meals. The hubs: He ordered the chicken and with it, two orders of the baked beans. Now he already had his chili messed up so how on earth could it get worse? Well.....he was given his chicken with two baked potatoes. Potatoes...beans...maybe in another language they sound the same? Took some more time for him to get the beans. His chili? Well it arrived but was by far was a joke to call brisket chili. He likened it to canned Hormel with a few pieces of beef on top. His chicken was ok, moist but not really that flavorful. Mine is next. I ordered the 6 oz sirloin with a baked potato and broccoli. I ordered the steak medium rare. Did I get a medium rare steak??? No, of course not. But by now I have just given up. My steak was only partly consumed as it was like a piece of shoe leather. Even BBQ sauce couldn't help. Our waitress, when she showed up to the table, appeared to be upset, perhaps in tears. I'm not sure what her issues were but...she should of stayed home. She was not in a good mood which totally set a bad tone to what was supposed to be a great night celebrating. Now comes the bill. It was presented and I noticed we were charged for one of the two drinks I never ordered. The hubs said "don't worry about it, let's not make a scene since it so and so's birthday and she chose the restaurant." So I let it go. No where on this was the gratuity. Imagine my surprise when my card was run and the receipt given to me to sign...there was the added gratuity!!! I wanted to remove it but....we did not need to make the birthday girl feel even worse for everything that went wrong. So...we paid almost $100 for a crappy meal, with terrible service but could not say much of anything as we did not want to hurt our friends feelings. By the amount of poor reviews for this place, I guarantee we will not be back...and will make sure others know how bad the service and the food were. If it remains open that long. read more
