When you arrive you will order at the counter. The staff was friendly and super helpful. After ordering you can grab a seat in the dining area. There is plenty of seating for small and large groups. There's a place to get your drink and grab some sauce from a variety of options. Our food came out quickly and portions were of good size. The Nashville hot chicken was dusted with some seasoning. It was not hot and quite frankly i couldn't taste the seasoning. The size was good and the chicken tasted good after I added some sauce. The nachos were delicious and full of flavor. It was my wife and our friend's first time visiting your location and the manager wearing the Cleveland Indians hat was so helpful, helping us navigating the menu and our sides. Then he told the young blonde girl it was our first time and she got samples of two more sides and got our food together fast. I ate a City BBQ in the Cleveland area with the food being pretty good but the service poor. I had a Brisket Sandwich, Mac and cheese and corn bread. UPDATE As can be seen the business apologized as they did in the review of the Avon Location, and asked me to provide feedback via their website, but I cant copy the link and when I tried to navigate from the main site to get to the feedback section struggled to get to it through the menus. I thought about it and in the end my feedback is here. If they want it they can enter it or just discuss it during customer feedback meetings. Not to be cynical, Some companies have a policy to always respond with a message as some data suggests it tempera the negative feedback. Some messages are case by case and varies in content and others are canned. Not saying thats the case here but the messages were the same/similar so maybe canned. ORIGINAL REVIEW At this location I ordered the same and also had fries. The sandwich was OK but corn bread was overcooked/not fresh and the fries were so so. The service was average, not friendly, not unfriendly. Considering the price you would expect more. This is supposed to be more premium than traditional fast food but the price is allot higher and the taste is just OK with mediocre service. Don't let the location fool you. With so many great restaurants nearby, like Tougen, Tiger Bakery and Poco Piatti, you might assume City BBQ is guilty by association. But don't, because it is not. It's just guilty of being mediocre, and that's being kind. A recent meal offered brisket so dry I had a difficult time swallowing it, sausage that was surprisingly flavorless without a hint of fire thrown it's way, collard greens undercooked and umbelieveably salty, and pulled pork that was just plain disappointing. One star for the hush puppies that were clearly fresh and hot. Toledo isn't particularly known for it's BBQ, but luckily we have some great options if you're looking. A solid barbecue offering in the suburban Toledo area. The staff are kind of food is good. The sauces are fun to try (I always recommend the mustard style sauce) and they have like five or six different ones. The prices are kind of high, though, considering the food and this is coming from someone who lives in DC I ordered a platter of two meats, and did not get any sides with it, Having to order them separately which made my bill over $25 for a two meat platter. This is quite high in my opinion for just decent, chain quality barbecue that said, and given the options in the area this is good and their brisket is above par. We ordered the brisket, smoked chicken leg, smoked chicken wings, chicken strips, Texas toast, corn bread, Mac and cheese, baked beans, collard greens, salad, banana pudding and the peach cobbler. All the chicken was great, would definitely get it again. Flavor was great, not dry at all. The leg was the star. The strips were also very good, brisket was flavorful but a little dry. I'd still get it again as they offer a few different bbq sauce choices to dip in. The corn bread is better than the Texas toast but there both good. Mac and cheese was good, baked beans were great and contain brisket, collard greens were also good. Salads were normal, good amount of greens. Banana pudding is phenomenal, wish we had gotten two! The food never disappoints, be it the pulled pork, smoked turkey, ribs or brisket. The collard greens taste like there's a "Big Momma" in the kitchen from down south who knows what she's doing. Green beans are well seasoned, and the corn pudding is delicious. If you love cornbread, there's is wonderfully done. I'm from KC and I love this place! I lived in Columbus for several years and this was my fav bbq joint there. Now I'm back in KC and this is still one of my fav bbq joints. Glad to see Toledo getting some love and some good bbq in their area. What I love: Sauces - They have 4 different sauces. May favorites are the basic and the mustard. There's also a spicy one that's too hot for me and a sweeter on. I love places with different variations of their own sauce. The main is a tomato base with a hint of vinegar. Pulled Pork - ask for it lean if you prefer less fat. My order from this location was perfect. It was lean, moist, and great smoke flavor. It was freshly pulled and not sitting to dry under the heat lamp. LOVE IT! Sides: Cornbread - love the little loaves, not sweet Hushpuppies - crispy, flavorful with pieces of onion in a cornmeal batter. These are a hard to find side dish at bbq joints Brisket - this is my husband's fav here. It's has a nice smoke to it and just the right amount of stretchyness. It's thick cut too which isn't normal, but very good. Sweet tea: house made sweet and unsweetened tea, very good. I mix the too as the sweet is too sweet for me. I love this joint.
