Very dishonest company. Called before Christmas to schedule cleaning/inspection and was told that they were very busy but they could fit me in for double the price. I said No, that I could wait til after the holidays. Gilbert Pina was my tech. Did not introduce himself or greet me. Overall first impressions weren't good. He went to look at the first firebox and automatically started talking about how bad it was. He mentioned issues with the way the chimney was constructed. Keep in mind this home was built in 1960. Of course it probably isn't up to today's standards. He automatically stated going over the worst case scenarios. How about we start with a complete inspection and cleaning, then we can go from there? He started talking about possibly having to an acid wash that starts at 3k along with other repairs. It's like a mechanic opening up the hood and telling you that your motor needs replaced without even inspecting it. He then had a hard time trying to get on the roof which I thought was really interesting. He picked the hardest side to go up though which I thought was telling. He took a 5 minute video explaining nothing and tried showing it to me. I asked if I can just get the report and pictures to go along with it so that I could understand better. He said he would not include pictures and they were his personal property. I thought that was very strange. He told me I would have a report in 2 to 3 days. This was Monday morning. I am writing this review on Friday after multiple attempts to speak with someone over the phone. They will only text me back and say they are reviewing the info. STILL NO REPORT! They said reports typically take 3 to 5 days. After telling me I would need some major work to my chimney, you leave me having this long????? I called a different company on Tuesday. They conducted a cleaning, inspection and repair all on the same day! Smokey Joes is more like Smokey Crooks, look elsewhere for services. read more

They were able to open my 60 year old damper; I was thrilled so I didn't have to have any repairs. Cameron was polite, detailed as he told me everything that was going on. He answered all our questions and went over all the different options and even potential issues that may come up. They were great. Asked for chimney inspection. I forgot his name but the tall guy came and was very informative, patient, and spoke like a professor. He really takes his time explaining things but I had time so it was cool. If you're on a time constraint or just generally like things fast paced, you can just tell him you don't have any questions and to get on with the job; he won't get offended, or at least that's what he told me. The lady who answers the phone was very helpful too. I had questions afterwards and she spent time explaining the different types of fireplace covers and whatnot. To be honest we do not utilize our chimney at all. We had a tree that fell and damaged our roof and slightly hit our chimney. As a precautionary action we asked Smokey Joes to come and inspect the chimney to ensure it was safe for the rare instance we did want to turn it on (doubt it).
