I'm not new to storage, I've had a large unit in Tacoma for over a decade, I know rates go up, I know about move in specials, I know rates periodically go up. This is a VERY deceptive practice and just wrong, when I signed up it said "web rate"... not "first 3 months" or "Introductory rate" nothing letting you know your rate is temporary. The staff has always been friendly and always helpful. The the unit was secure, low priced and the facility clean. All the years we stored there, and we had two units, there were never any issues. They even offered us cold bottled water when we were sorting our stuff on a hot summer day. We loved that the staff were responsive and security minded. It makes a big difference compared to a few places we tried before. We will tell our friends and when we need storage again, we will return. Thank you for a pleasant experience.

I have rented a 10' x 30' unit for the last 6 years and although the rent price did increase periodically while it was Anchor Storage, it never jumped up in price like it recently has since being acquired by Iron Guard. Rent went up 80$ per month on my unit! NOTHING has been done to improve the facility. Gates are chincy and act like they don't want to open up all the way, turns and corners are so tight that it is extremely difficult to maneuver a moving truck or truck pulling a trailer. This is why the corners and sides of their units are all scraped up with paint from vehicles, storage units have openings in the roof line and my belongings are so covered in dirt and dust that has blown in and settled (and this storage facility is surrounded by industrial area, dirt parking lots for semi trucks and road construction so you can imagine how much dirt is flying around outside in the area). Also, and this is NASTY, so many of my belongings are covered in absolute filth from mice. Piss stains, poop droppings, mattresses and pillows that were in bags have been chewed into and left with holes. I went to the office at 9:30a this morning (they open at 9:00a). Open sign was turned off and door was locked. 9:00a opening time was posted on their window. I went to my car and tried calling the number for Iron Guard and their automated message told me to stay on the line and someone would be right with me. It played that message over and over for 10 minutes while I waited for them to answer their phone. They never did and they also never opened up their office during that time. I had gone there this morning to give my vacate notice. Guess I will have to waste my time again tomorrow. This makes me even more anxious to terminate my business with them. I do not recommend this storage facility at all. They are greedy and don't do anything to improve their grounds and units. Maybe new ownership will bring some needed changes but so far in the last 6 months I haven't noticed anything except for new signs that say Iron Guard Storage and the biggest increase in rent price that I have ever seen at a storage unit. Also, 172nd is a traffic nightmare and getting in and out of this place can be frustrating to say the least. With the Amazon building and tons of other construction in the area, it will only get worse.

I recently had to switch units due to being priced out, only to receive a shocking 47% rent increase on the new unit shortly after moving in. When I reached out to discuss this, their response was dismissive and uncaring. They offered a mere $11 discount--hardly a solution. It was insulting, to say the least, especially for a long-time customer who has helped keep their business afloat. After doing some research, I discovered countless similar complaints about Public Storage--not just this location, but nationwide. Many customers have experienced increases ranging from 25% to 60%, making it clear that this is a company-wide issue. If there are rent control measures for housing, there should absolutely be similar regulations for storage facilities. On top of the ridiculous price hikes, their customer service is nearly impossible to reach, and when you do, they offer no meaningful assistance. If you value your money, avoid Public Storage at all costs. Unless you're okay with changing units every six months and being brushed off by customer service, save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere. Public Storage is gouging customers with predatory pricing practices, and their lack of concern for loyal renters is appalling.
