The food especially the rip tips is bad enough. They do not barbecue their meat on the outside grill so we're already dealing with baked or boiled ribs so that's worse to make it even worse. I have photos that I will be sharing today what I received $18 for a rip tip dinner mind you they discontinued the cornbread muffin so they placed it with a mini chocolate chip cupcake. I am highly upset. It looks like I just left somebody's backyard. they threw some rip tips watery saucin an aluminum foil, balled it up and gave it to me. And yes, I definitely contact Ruby who is one of the team members I will be expressing my concerns with management Nick tomorrow this is very upsetting. It was empty inside but the workers were prompt and polite. The dessert selection is pretty big and the servings Sizes were worth their price. Went here for a gyro. The gyro meat was so thick and no flavor it was gross. They didn't give me any sauce and almost forgot to give me my fries had to ask. We love stopping by Smokey's when we're coming through town. We live an hour away and always enjoy the food here. We have eaten in and have done the drive thru. It seems they can't hear you well at the drive thru. We intentionally speak clearly and the gals always get the order wrong. They miss items or just completely change it! Hubby wanted a Chicago dog. Somehow she heard "polish sausage". He ordered two medium chocolate shakes, she heard one. Have them always read the order back to you. We corrected the polish to Chicago Dog and missed the one shake. But seriously, no biggie. I genuinely think their side of the speaker must be tough to hear. The food is spectacular. The workers are ALWAYS kind, polite and helpful. It's CLEAN if you eat inside. We've never had a bad thing there. The ice cream options are a bit pricey, so it may not be the place to take the family/kids for ice cream, (one medium chocolate shake is $6.56 w/ tax). BUT, that being said, it's GOOD ice cream! We left the airport in Chicago and drove to Smokey's for dinner on the way home. We arrived at 7:30 on a Tuesday evening. The entire restaurant had the chairs on the tables, the floors had been mopped, they were cleaning up behind the counter. As we started to order the young gal at the register said, we close at 8:00, ok....... we had planned to sit and eat then head home. We ordered an Italian Beef and a Kabob bowl, easily eaten by 8:00. The cooks stared at us behind the work counter. No welcome, no tables, we took a booth and waited for the food, I asked the staff to give it to us in "to go" form. We sat and ate half our meal since we had had a ten hour travel day and were famished. We wrapped half of it up and headed home to finish it. We felt very unwelcomed. We did not arrive at 7:55 to eat, apparently everyone who worked there was planning on going home early. Such a poor experience. Food was excellent! I ended up getting the Pit Boss sandwich and it was awesome. Beef brisket, pulled pork, onion rings, and coleslaw, BBQ sauce all piled on a bun. As I understand it, the kebabs are a new menu item. My husband brought us each a chicken kebab meal as takeout, which consists of 2 skewers, rice pilaf, a small Mediterranean salad (lettuce, green bell peppers, Kalamata olives, feta, cucumber, and tomato), and 4 quarters of pita. Service was prompt and the atmosphere is what you'd would expect for a small-town BBQ joint. First, improvement areas: I would have liked to have had twice as much pita, more bell peppers and cucumber, and a jasmine or basmati rice rather than the mediocre pilaf. To be fair, I'm picky about rice, so that's probably more down to personal preference. It's really not bad, it's just not what I would have chosen. The food was well-packaged. The veggies in the salad were crisp and tasted fresh, with the Kalamata olives and feta providing some lovely salty, acidic notes. I can't identify if there's a dressing on there or not; if there is, it's light enough that it doesn't interfere with the natural flavors at play - for me, a very good thing! Since I enjoyed it between bites of pita-wrapped chicken, it was perfect as-is. The chicken itself is absolutely fabulous. Well seasoned, juicy, and beautifully cooked. The flavor is a perfect balance of meat, seasoning, and the grill. It was really enjoyable wrapped in pita, but good with bites of rice, as well. Personally, I liked smearing a bit of feta on a piece of pita, putting a bite of chicken over, and eating it with bites of salad in between. I probably wouldn't have bothered with the rice (again, it wasn't bad!) if I'd had an equivalent servicing of veggies & pita. Overall, this was a perfectly enjoyable meal. The portion size made sense for the money, the food was relatively healthy, filling, and very tasty, and so I feel it was a good value, overall. This was such a terrible decision the baked beans come in such a small container that's almost the same size as the container that the bbq sauce came in. You can tell they did nothing extra to it but drown it in bbq sauce. The Mac and cheese taste just like water not even cheese just plain water salt couldn't even help it. The meat was gray in color. There was no bark or smoke ring on the edges. It was not good. 1/10 The bbq sauce wasn't bad. A little vinegary for my taste, but overall a 4.5/10. The customer service is based on my experience in the drive thru and it was quick as I recall but not memorable enough that I remember gushing over how friendly and welcoming they were. Decent local bbq place. There's one lady who always seem to be there that is very friendly. Most other workers seem to be teens so service/friendliness can be hit or miss. Have had numerous orders, some are great some are just average. Haven't had anything bad though which is good. Pretty much pure vanilla with all the mix ins still on the bottom but it was still yummy either way. Just wish they did a better job mixing. My daughters two and got a swirl soft serve in a cup. Decent lunch today at Smokey's. Clean tables, a menu board of specials and friendly service. Five stars for all of those features. The food was good as far as the pulled pork sandwich. Plenty of meat piled onto a nice sized bun. Bbq sauce on the side is a huge plus for me. Our combos today were the baked potato soup, pulled pork sandwich with a drink. The baked potato soup had scalding hot - good sized potatoes in it but the soup was orange in color - probably a cheese base and pretty thinned out. There were bits of bacon but somehow this soup missed the mark. Our beverages were iced tea. I thought it tasted funny. My husband decided it was just a brand I'm not used to or it was like a tea made with a few spoonfuls of tea and stirred. Not sure but only drank half of it. This is where I've rated Smokey's overall with three stars. We've eaten here a few times and certainly will go back. This place has excellent soup in the fall/winter and we are addicted to their ice cream cones during the summer! With that said, their hotdogs, hamburgers and chicken sandwiches are all very basic, if not that great. What we were most excited about was their barbecue which left us sadly disappointed. The ribs were for mostly gristle, the brisket was OK. They do have amazing sauce though! I will say the number one problem we have with this establishment is the manager they have there who has it so rude every time we go there. The driver of the car parked went through the bag and brought it back in as it was not their order. The woman behind the counter took the food and placed it on the food station. A cook in back noticed my wife and I waiting to long for our food and came to check on us. The food from the parking lot was ours and was about to be given to us. I asked for new food that wasn't touched by strange hands. The woman then placed the food on the heat station where the cooks place food that is ready. The cook open the gyros, then closed it, placed the ticket on top and pushed it back to her. That's when I asked for my money back. There was no problem getting money back.
