Steak bites Ruben sliders and seafood ceviche. The steak bites were under seasoned. They were begging for some salt and pepper. The blue cheese on them was perfectly melted and they were done to perfection. They were supposed to have a red wine sauce. It tasted like brown gravy from a packet. Not the worst but no red wine flavor. The Reuben sliders that were most likely made with St Patrick's Day leftovers were delicious !!! The corned beef was thick and trimmed to perfection (no fatty bits). We would get these again. The seafood ceviche was described as being prepared with lime juice and pico de gallo and served with chips and crackers. It came with no crackers (not that big of a deal) but the seafood and pico were in some kind of tomato broth stuff. (Like a Clamato juice). I was not a fan but the husband thought it was fine. This was the best overall restaurant I've been to in a long time. I was dining alone and just ordered the daily special, fried chicken, and was treated like I ordered the filet mignon. The service was impeccable and the chicken needed no seasoning, simply terrific. Incredibly loud so I can't hear anything being said making conversation impossible. Been waiting ages for some bread. Even longer wait for the food. Going on two hours in this restaurant without receiving our meal. Had to speak to the manager twice. Seafood pasta was salty. Lakeview Grille doesn't have a sign stating they were voted best steaks for no reason. They truly are the best! You don't have to order the most expensive cut of steak. The sirloin is fantastic. I ordered the steak Alfredo pasta. It comes with a sliced 8 oz sirloin on top. There is enough Alfredo sauce, so any leftovers will still be saucy. It has perfectly cooked pasta, mushrooms and broccoli. Hubby's sirloin was cooked to perfection. The salads that come with the meal are huge and delicious. Desserts look good but we didn't have room. Might have to come just for appetizers and dessert one day. read more

Spectacular service! Wow, how did I miss this restaurant? I go to Yorkville often to eat and this was my first visit here. The menu has tons of selections from steaks to salad and sandwiches. The portions were too large for my crew, but I got to bring home delicious leftovers that I ate the next day! Yum! While there I spilled my drink and the waiters and waitresses ran to help clean up. Venturing out from the restaurant desert that is Morris, Illinois, we decided on the Lakeview Grill for our 34th wedding anniversary. The menu looked good, and the pictures of the dining room did as well. We decided on their special menu, and uncharacteristically both got the same thing: two 4 ounce filet mignon and crab meat with béarnaise sauce, asparagus, and garlic mashed. My picture doesn't do the entre justice... it was perfectly constructed, and the steaks melted in our mouths. It was THAT good. Was it choice? Prime? I don't care... it was among the tastiest filets I've ever had. Whomever grilled them knows what they are doing. The salad was fresh, the bleu cheese dressing tasty. The mashed was dense, but delicious, as were the asparagus. The sauce was not overpowering. My only negative is that the crab was likely claw, but I'll give that a pass. The bread was warm, fluffy, delicious. For an apéritif, I got a Manhattan, which I haven't had for years, and it really didn't fit my menu choice. I only mention this because it was WAY too big for me being the lightweight I am. Hey, no complaints... it was a DEAL. Now to the desert... Perfection! She got the Key Lime, I am a sucker for cheesecake. The portions were HUGE, and at just $8.00, a steal. To end this, a shout-out to our server Tina. Never in my 50+ years of dining has there been a more perfect server. Friendly, helpful, attentive... she was fantastic. The bill came to $115 with tip, and it was worth every penny. read more

We have been here many times on different trips to Chetek for vacation. When it was first taken over by ShopRite, a new restaurant and had Mexican food we went and it was delicious. The owner/manager came up to the table and talked to us and it was a pleasant experience. We have been back for a couple of other visits on recent trips, and the food was not nearly as good. We ate outside, which was pleasant and enjoyed that. eating inside the tables were tacky and I'm not sure if it was just the varnish and what they were cleaning the tables or what but it kind of grossed me out. Food was excellent. Server was great. Facility was clean. What a surprise when given a bill with a 3% surcharge added for paying by credit card. No verbal or written notice of this policy was given to me beforehand. All prices shown on the menu are for cash payers. I came to find this out after the fact. I also learned after the fact that an 18% gratuity will be added for parties of 8 or more, and our server was worth every bit of that, but do the math, 3% cr. card surcharge + 9.25% Yorkville sales tax + 18% gratuity= 30.25% in addition to their published menu prices. Food purchased at the supermarket is taxed at 1% in IL. I predict that more and more restaurants will be going out of business at these prices, not entirely the fault of the restaurant owners. We were given 1 menu for 7 people. Our server was excellent and did give updates and checked in. The saganaki server was awesome.. Food was pretty good. But, we waited 90 mins for our dinner. This place is very nice. We were sat along the windows and the view was amazing. Very nice deco and plenty of parking. The waitress was very polite and professional. The food was pretty good. They have a pretty big menu and their beer selection is okay. We had the Blackened Ahi Tuna appetizer and it was delicious. The Mediterranean Pasta was okay needed more pasta but overall good. 8oz rib eye was prepared perfectly and the Desert good. Honestly this place was better than I expected since don't visit restaurant like this to often. It's very clean and very family oriented. Not sure if the cook or the owner is at fault but steaks and fish taste to be old or very poor quality. Tough steaks more like a poor quality sirloin instead or prime as advertised. Walleye was chewy and dry, for fish to be chewy there is something way off. maybe freezer burnt, I dont know. Owner should get out there and serve what is advertised on menu, not try to make as much money at customers cost. Drinks were so over poured that it tases like pure alcohol. I have driven by Lakeview Grille so many times since moving to Yorkville a year ago and I don't know what took us so long to try it but on Valentine's Day we finally did! I'm so happy to have such a great local restaurant just down the road. It is super cute inside. Definitely gives off a rustic, woodsy feel in a great way. Everything was awesome from the drinks to the food to the service. Actually the service is what convinced us that we need to be regulars. Our server (I think her name was Jamie? Kicking myself for not writing it down) was fantastic. She not only took great care with my husband's food allergies but was super knowledgeable with regards to suggestions on what he could have. To me it's a great place for a special celebration. I was there for my birthday. Ordered the Cajun Ribeye - medium with French onion soup. Steak was huge and cooked perfectly. This was our second time having New Years dinner at Lakeview Grille. We were incredibly disappointed. We made a reservation for dinner and were seated almost 45 minutes after our reservation time. My guess is that they were seating walk in guests without saving tables for their reservation guests. When we finally got a table, our host walked us over to a dirty table and we stood there while it was bussed in front of us. Immediately as we were actively sitting down the server came up to us and asked what we wanted to drink, I said we haven't looked at the menu yet, and asked what they had- she pointed to the drink menu at the end of the table (that we haven't seen yet) and walked away. The service continued to be sub par the rest of the evening, however, I do understand with the holiday it was very busy. After waiting what seemed like forever for our food the server came to our table informing us there were still 6 orders in front of ours. We almost left and went to Jimmy John's. The manager came over and asked how we were doing, but walked away before we could answer, lol- I kinda thought that it was funny, but also for the best as my response would not have been positive. The service station was in the center of the restaurant, so it was EXTREMELY loud with crashing plates, which became an annoyance as the evening went on. The food was subpar, which again I expected for the holiday, we've been to this restaurant a few times before with a "regular" menu and the food has always been better which is why I gave 2 stars. We will be looking for a different place to spend our holidays, but will most likely not count this restaurant out for their everyday menu read more

This review is for our last visit. The server was great. Very positive, fun and attentive. The food....well. both my steak and my wife's prime rib were over cooked. Her's pretty drastically. My "Jimmy's 14 oz NY Strip" was 2" wide at the widest part, no exaggeration. That tapered down to a point. The pointy end was hard and over done and the "wide end"( I really don't think it would have measured 2 full inches was cooked to a little more than med well, which is what I ordered. I never said anything because we have had some bad luck eating out and I just wanted to have a positive experience. I looked over at my wife's Prime rib and it had been grilled...? Possibly to bring it to med well, which isn't how you do that. Unfortunately there are cooks who think if you order prime rib anything but med rare you shouldn't eat it but who are they to say what a customer should or shouldn't like. I'm not saying that is the case in this situation BUT after she tried to eat it, asking for Aujus, which would have been brought out in the first place to try and choke down this dry and overcooked prime rib (I have never in my life seen a dry prime rib until now btw and my wife has been ordering it med well her whole life) she just couldn't choke it down. I finally talked her into sending it back and the owner was very polite and apologetic. He asked her specifically how she'd like the replacement cooked and after telling him med well, he brought back a med rare cut of prime rib..? We just looked at each other and figured after trying twice that was probably the best we were going to get. The night was getting long and we just wanted to get out of there. We thanked him...the waitress apologized about 20 times. She was very sweet. So then the bill comes. I just started laughing. My wife looked at it. I'd ordered a mixed drink and they charged me an extra $3 to put ice in the glass. The extra charge was listed as "On The Rocks". At that point my wife said she had been disappointed but was now just angry. I have never in my life been charged an extra $3 for ice and it wasn't even as if it was a custom cube or anything of that nature it was Ice scooped out of the bin. Yeah, it was only $3, but C'mon man It was just kind of ridiculous. We've had many really good experiences here and a couple to a few ridiculous experiences like this one. I don't know if the owner is having trouble finding quality employees right now or what..? We also usually order calamari and notices the portion this time was noticably smaller and the fresh bread they brought out was also almost half the size as usual. What a disappointment. What we ate: Bread: Best thing we ate here. 5 stars. Deep fried zucchini appetizer: Slightly under cooked but good. 4 stars. Cheese pizza (for GD): She wouldn't touch it, my daughter and I tried it and returned it. Mushy & limp crust, lacked flavor, partially melted cheese, tasted frozen and nuked? 0 stars. House salad: Good 3.5 stars. Mac & Cheese (for GD): It was from a store bought box brand aka Kraft. First time ever I have experienced this! 0 stars. French Onion Soup: Just ok, not a lot of body to the broth, watery. Cheese covered bread needed a knife to cut. 3 stars. Prime Rib: All three of the adults ordered this, medium rare. My daughter and husband returned it. We all left half or more uneaten. It was super tough and hard to cut. Very low grade cut of meat. My daughter's husband (DH) used to be the head bartender at an upscale steak house. He said no way was this slow roasted over night. I have never in my life time ever left a prime rib mostly uneaten. 1 star (it was meat lol). Service: The waiter gave us adequate attention but food was slow coming out of the kitchen. He was very apologetic about the quality. The manager told my DH (I was in the restroom) that he was sorry and that sometimes they receive low quality meat. What? He did drop their two dinners and the cheese pizza from the bill. 3.5 stars. Overall the food gets 1 star due to the (not) prime rib. read more

We arrived pretty early in the afternoon on Thursday and it wasn't busy. After being sat, we were given waters and our server showed up shortly after to take our drink and app order. The pacing of the meal was great - we didn't have to wait very long to get orders in or start seeing food arrive. Our server was nice, too - efficient, and didn't bother us while we ate. We tried the oysters, calamari (my kid's favorite), house salads, the striped bass fish special, the kid's burger, the prime rib, and a couple drinks (we were celebrating). Overall, everything was fantastic, especially the champagne cream sauce on the fish. The only thing I didn't love was when the manager was walking around asking for feedback. He seemed bored and impatient, like he was more interested in speaking to the larger parties in the room. We were very disappointed during our last visit. Our waitress was not wearing her mask properly. While I understand that masks can be uncomfortable to wear, if you are greeting customers during a pandemic, it might be best not to breathe all over people. The restaurant very clearly does not enforce COVID rules or recommendations; several customers also walked in and around without masks. The waitress had a very disinterested demeanor, in general. We waited an extended time for her to initially come to our table, then she left before taking everyone's order. She completely ignored my three year old, which is uncalled for- a young child eats and drinks, too. The food was lack luster, especially considering the $100 bill for four people. The scallops were over cooked, the pasta flavorless. With all the new restaurant choices in the area, Lakeview no longer can compete. read more
