We stopped in on the eve of Thanksgiving for a drink around 9pm and the bartender told us it was 2/1 seltzers. We ordered a round and enjoyed for 30-40 minutes. When we went to close they told us that they couldn't find our tab anywhere and not to worry about it- it should have only been about 6-7$. We pressed and asked for someone to check and she repeated not to worry about it. Cool. Before midnight that night we were charged 16$ and then on the morning of Thanksgiving we were charged another 8$....24$ for two high noons. First bar I came to when moved downtown. Great crowd to meet good friends and play some pool. Good table and players at the same time they're all friendly and non judge mental. Laid back bar where you can have a good time without worrying about stupid things, if you're nervous in social environments, don't be nervous about hanging out here. I will say the initial interaction was just awful, really wish we got names now. We came in pretty early maybe 8-9pm. My husbands birthday was last night and his friend is in town for it. We all are from different states and have different state IDs but we always carry our military IDs just in case. We came in got greeted by this young lady with brown hair. Asked for IDs which we gave willingly of course but then she started to make faces and we were all genuinely confused then she had thrown our IDs and refused because they were fake? She immediately was like "I'm only serving this guy and not you two." Which was my husband cause he had a Florida state ID. I understand SRQ has a lot of college kids and they have fakes but that was just disrespectful. Other bartenders had to come and assist us, they could tell that they were not fake. We enjoyed coming here for bar crawls, for birthdays even for family coming in and never had a bad experience before. After we got everything squared away and the apologies from everyone but the rude brown hair young lady we stayed for a drink we were gonna play pool which is what we came for originally it was just uncomfortable at that point. She had been side eyeing us and it became a very uncomfortable experience. Everything was great but she ruined it. Thank her for us please cause we had to call it a early night at our favorite bar. I had a very bad experience here a few weeks ago. I went with a group of friends and I was first to give my ID, was able to get in and the bouncer asked if my friends were with me. Didn't have a drink here, but have to give this place a 5-star. We were visiting Sarasota, and I was looking for a place to have a cigar while doing some work, and I was told this was a cigar bar. When I entered, I found out they no longer sold cigars. So, I left and as I was walking down the street, a guy ran out following me asking if he heard correctly that I was looking for cigars. He pointed me in the direction of Corona's (which on the map says they are permanently closed) and said they literally opened that day. I went to Coronas, and it was the most amazing cigar bar I've ever been to. I told an employee the story, and he said the guy was the owner of Joes! So thank you to Joes! The security here is extremely rude, not trustworthy and have no problems being rough with women. Instead of solving problems that occur here they provoke it. Security is supposed to make you feel secure not the opposite. I do not know names but I am specifically talking about a taller guy with curly/poofy hair and another security guard with glasses. These two should be fired, I have even seen them smoking illegal substances behind the bar... however management does care enough to do anything about them. read more

The bartenders here took 20% gratuity off my card multiple times in one night. When I decided to not to give additional tips, one (botched lips, asian looking) bartender refused to continue servicing us and called security to escort us out. She also made a comment about us not being able to afford to go out to a bar and drink. This felt racially motivated considering we had just gotten there AND they had never just taken their own tips prior. We have been to this bar 4 weekends in a row and never had issues until we ran into this racist bartender. Joe's won't get another DIME out of me especially since they have to steal tips. read more

This was an absolutely fun place. Got there around 8 o'clock and it wasn't very crowded. By 1 AM the place was packed. Despite the front door and a big bay window being open to the outdoors the inside remained really nice and cold. They certainly have a great AC system. It was a nice mixed crowd predominately mean men. Age group ran from 21 up to about 50. It's a street club but there were gay couples in there. Everyone got along quite well. The drinks were good, the music was spectacular. They have huge TV screens on the wall playing videos from the 70s 80s and 90s. Very lively place and we certainly enjoyed ourselves. You can smoke in here. They have an amazing cigar bar. So if you like cigars if you like to sit down and have a cocktail and smoke this is the place to go. read more

I have always been a fan of Joes. I kind of liked it better when they only served beer and wine, because you could go in and watch a game in peace, even on a Friday or Saturday. It would never get so crowded that you couldn't find a seat. However, ever since they got their full liquor license, they get horribly crowded on the weekends, making it harder to enjoy. That said, it's become a great night scene outside of being a sports/cigar bar. That's great, but it was always a place for me to sit back and have a cigarette or cigar (when I used to smoke) a couple of beers, and watch the Mets lose...again. Anyway, enough nostalgia. This time...and last time actually...my girlfriend and I came here to watch a Florida State game. It was Saturday at 8, so I would have thought it would be busier, especially for a huge Florida game. But, it wasn't close to busy, so we were able to grab a seat right at a TV and enjoy the first half. Great things about Joes - lots of TVs, including individual TV's at the cocktail tables. They have a patio, and the wall opens up as well (though for some reason, it was a beautiful night, but they had it closed). They have a pool table, though not a great one because one side is so close to the wall, you can't make any kind of shot. They have a couple of video games, including Golden Tee which is obviously a must. An internet juke box, too. They are a cigar bar, and they have a reasonable selection. Since they don't serve food, you can smoke as much as you please. Their beer and liquor prices are very reasonable. You can get a cocktail for under $10, and in many cases, it's more like $5-$7, and you aren't drinking well-garbage. As for food, you are allowed to bring it in. I strongly recommend a pizza from Pattellinis, which is across the street. Best NY style pizza outside of NY that you can get in the area. The bartenders are good here. Honestly, they used to be better when I first started going to Sarasota, but those bartenders are all gone. I'm biased since I used to enjoy chatting with the old bartenders (which is unusual for me since I normally hate people). The ones there now are friendly and quick and happy to help adjust a TV channel if needs be. The male bartender working on Christmas Eve was rude, obnoxious, and overcharged me for things that I hadn't even ordered. People are definitely smoking, but it is a fun bar with a great atmosphere. I tend to avoid places where people smoke inside, but I was following a friend and this was our second stop. It isn't an unbearable amount of smoke, but you will smell it. This was the place to be on a Friday night. We were there around 9 p.m. and it was starting to get packed. They play music videos, which are fun to watch. The crowd here are young and diverse. It seemed like all types of crowds come here, which is cool. We didn't realize Joe's on Main had been renovated until recently. We've since been back twice and both experiences were super positive. You can no longer buy cigars or smoke in the main bar, which we like, but you can outside near the front if you like. The new interior looks great and the staff were all lovely, we dealt with several people and all were warm and friendly. The bouncers out front were friendly and we had no issues. Walking around Main Street and stopped in. We were surprised how nice and cool it was on a hot night given the front windows were open. Nice selection of local drafts and the usuals (a little heavy on the IPAs for hot weather). Order a couple cold YluengLangs and the barman was super nice. Then, some loudmouth "hostess" lady started yelling into a microphone. We figured out later she was hosting "bar games" including musical chairs (?). We aren't prudes, but yelling nasty crap (really nasty) into a mic in front of drunk people is a bad look. We popped in here last October and walked into a huge bar brawl, including the cops inside. Don't get the hate on this joint and glad to up the average rating, seeing how there are only 8 reviews! Seeing how there was a douchetastic looking club across the street and the place we ate earlier (Clasico) was about to turn clubby post-dining, Smokin' Joes looked to be our spot. We were right! We were on the first night of a Bachelor Party and could not be more glad that overserving here wasn't an issue. The Crown and Jager machines are served in what look like triple shots - thumbs up! Also, lots of delicious beer on tap. I'm partial to Cigar City offerings, as we do not get that in Chicago. Also, they put the Cubs game on for us - we're gonna win the World Series one of these years, mark my words... I am very disappointed at my experience here lastnight. my first visit will now be my last for I have never been treated so rudely by male bartender in my life. I have been a bartender/server for almost 15years and have worked in busier places than this place was and have never treated a patron with such disrespect. And it's my understanding they they are this way with women a lot (which is very surprising to me) If I knew how to speak to the owner I would but I'm not sure how to get in touch with them, but I'm sure they wouldn't want their employees treating people like they did me lastnight. I do not recommend this place if you are a woman... go find a place where they will at least treat you with kindness and respect. He said they were being used and I said Ok and that I would try back in a bit (only needed like 15minutes on a charger, that's it...) so I went back up a little bit later and the other bartender, who I found out was the manager on duty, which was surprising to me but ok. The other bartender come to find out took my phone off and put his own on the charger, which is so surprising to me. I was like really....! The "manager" I heard say is not their priority... yeah ok then... that's pretty messed up. And to be totally honest my issue isn't even the phone at this point they were just so rude and disrespectful for no reason really. I was told today they those guys are like that with women a lot over there. The manager is said to be a "womanizer" and talkes down and degrades women all the time... why would you want to go to a place like that. If I was messed up and being loud and cussing and stuf like that that's one thing, but I wasn't, I was polite with them until then. I tossed his pen back on the bar because I had accidentally taken it to the table with me after getting my bill for my second beer, which the little guy came and took away from me... why?? I wasn't making a scene or anything... I did shoot him a bird for being so rude and I guess I hurt his feelings but that doesn't condone them treating me the way they did before that... that was my one childish move. The tobacco shop in St Armand's Circle recommended the place and it was spot on! We went on a Monday night, were greeted warmly and set up with drinks. They had free music bingo that had the whole bar having fun and they gave away lots of prizes. They have TVs for sports and a large humidor if you need a smoke. Loved it! read more

Went there for the first time last week, totally suprised! The cigar selection was decent, but the mere fact that they had a walk in humidor full of cigars was a total win considering it's a sports bar! Not only that, but there prices are great! I really like this sports bar. It has a patio overlooking Main Street so you can people watch. When it's nice weather they open up the windows to the patio. I love it when sports bars have something more to offer than a dark and dank sports cave. It's got a TON of flat screenTVs - of course.
