I am a combat veteran and we had our annual fundraiser yesterday and smokin mamas was supposed to show up to serve our food and she never showed up. We lost 2/3 of our potential customers because there was nothing there to eat. I coordinated another food truck that ended up showing up at about 630 and by then most of the customers were gone. Very unprofessional!! I was on the fundraising committee and she ghosted us for a couple of months prior to our event would not answer phone calls or emails. The lady taking our order was friendly but extremely slow. Too busy chatting with the man going in and out of the truck and with customers trying to just order food. The Carolina pork sandwich was lacking meat. The flavor was of liquid smoke. The French fries were actually good, and I'm picky about fresh fries. We ate here on 02/04 at the reggae relief festival and WOW! We got their loaded fries and let me tell you, nothing better! Must ask for their garlic aoli sauce! Owner was helpful and so nice. Highly recommend to stop and grab a bite to eat. The price for their food is worth paying for. Theres enough on your plate to share but once you taste it you wont want to. Do NOT book this truck for events. We spent a lot of time making signs, Facebook posts, inviting friends outside of our neighborhood for our very first food truck event on Friday night. The Smokin Momma Lora's BBQ truck came to our community. A few things: the menu and choices available are excellent. There seems to be something for everyone on their menu and ordering went quickly. For two people getting a pulled pork sandwich each and some fries, the bill came to $36. Absurd price for two sandwiches and freezer fries. After waiting 50 minutes in the parking lot, we got our food. This time seems to be a bit much for something I would imagine is already made ahead of time. They were serving 23 when we arrived and we were in the low 40's. The pork tasted great, but sauce was poured on the top leaving no sauce for anything that wasn't on top. The fries seem to be garden variety of your freezer fries, not enough salt and soggy. Lastly, the stickers on the truck were full of mockery (Something like "Praise the Lard" and another one that was anti-religious). The one that caught my eye was the "NWO" one on the front passenger corner. You can have whatever beliefs you want but don't expect me to support it with my money. Not recommended. read more

I was surprised to find not only two reviews for Smokin Momma Lora's, but also surprised by the one star review. After reading that review I can understand the frustration when paying a high price tag and feeling deceived, BUT the food was good as stated by that reviewer. Anyone that has eaten at this food truck and taken a moment to speak with the owners, you'd find they are so friendly they would have happily resolved that small problem in an instant and turned a disappointed customer into a happy customer. (Refer to one star review) My personal experience was last night at Big Top's 5 year anniversary party. I've seen the truck around from time to time, but never stopped. My husband insisted we try it since he had heard so many good things about the BBQ. We ordered the Jalapeño BBQ sandwich to share. It was priced at $9 and a very healthy portion. I grew up on Eastern North Carolina BBQ and take my pork seriously. Typically if it's not pulled pork smothered in a vinegar base sauce I'll happily go find something else to eat. Not this BBQ... this BBQ has the perfect amount of Smokey flavor, trimmed perfectly to avoid any fatty pieces and the tomato based sauce is incredibly zesty and flavorful. After sharing the sandwich we left Big Top and went downtown. We did something that I HAVE NEVER DONE and headed BACK to Big Top, because we couldn't get enough and just had to get one more sandwich. Still craving more today. I highly recommend eating here. Don't write off an excellent food truck just because you feel "deceived" by foil under your fries (again, refer to pitiful one star review). Talk to the owners if you ever feel disappointed, they will make it right and you will become a regular, I'm certain of it. read more

We commissioned her to come to our neighborhood twice weekly during the pandemic (summer of 2020) and she IS fantastic. If your event conflicts with her schedule, she will actually find you another food truck that is not even affiliated with her...one of her competitors but she doesn't think of other food trucks that way. She is ALWAYS trying to help everyone out whether it's helping to fix a broken down truck ("competitor's") or helping to fill a void. We can not say enough good things about Smokin Momma Lora's BBQ truck, This was our first time using a food truck and these ladies came out for our Teacher Appreciation week to feed our staff and the food was amazing, we had ladies raving about how delicious her food was. They were able to accommodate 93 meals in a timely fashion so teachers could get back to their classrooms and their attitudes were outstanding meeting the needs of each individual teachers request. We had the burgers, smoked pork, smoked chicken, loaded nachos, beyond chicken and they also made salads for those watching their figures. Couldn't believe they would do this. Last night at big top brewery we ordered loaded fries and thought it was pricey at $15 but it looked so good. It was good but quickly into it we discovered they had made a foil ball and put it under the foil bottom to make it look huge. In my opinion that was deceitful. The tacos were 3 for $12 I see their menu says $3 per taco. So I think they took advantage of being the only food service there. The food was good until our discovery. Too bad. Pulled pork was very flavorful, I ordered my sandwich with their OG BBQ sauce and a side of the mango habanero to try out. My S/O ordered the ghost pepper Swiss burger. Eh. Fries were good, though they were a lot like McDonald's fries. Though, when you got to the middle or end of the plate of fries they were wet with grease after having been taken out of the fryer. I get they're trying to be fast but speed has to be balanced with quality.. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which was pretty okay. Girlfriend ordered the loaded nachos which.. is why it's getting a 2* review. It was loaded with stale tasting Tostito's chips and similar tasting, somewhat expired taste for the queso.. This was by far my WORST food truck experience. I went to the food truck festival and tried this after seeing all of the hype around it. I ordered my food and in less than 4 seconds, she handed it to me. I was so stunned that she handed me an entire meal (bbq chicken sandwich and fries) so quickly that I didn't even have the language prepared to express how insulted I was that she handed me OLD, STALE, food! The fries were grey and cold. ACTUALLY GREY! The "chicken" looked plastic. It was smothered in what I'm assuming they were passing as bbq sauce. It looked HORRIFIC! My dad bit into a fry and just stared at me then told me just throw the whole meal away. My appetite was ruined for the rest of the day. It must be some sort of marketing scheme they have going on, selling the image that they're the best. There is NO WAY actual humans eat this and really enjoy it. I don't believe it. if i could give this food truck a 0-star rating, i would. we disliked it so much had to make a different dinner! had pulled pork (way too salty and my husband who is a former exec chef couldn't even eat it), cole slaw was just ok (publix's is better), the kids cheeseburger and fries was a frozen burger like costco's with american cheese on it, and the fries were incredibly soggy. $26 only to eat something else...
