Pulled pork was excellent. The ribs were smoked beautifully but they were heavy handed with the salt. Sauces were tasty. Corn bread was very good. Loves the pickles with the meal. Cole slaw was terrible. It just didn't taste right at all. Service was friendly and quick. They have an eating area inside and out. But my overall experience here was very positive. No BBQ sauce needed, especially with the ribs. I did eventually try a couple of their homemade sauces with the pulled pork and thought they were fine. I loved my side of slaw, cool, crunchy, and refreshing, not too sweet, with a hint of lemon. Very well done. The background for this locally owned and operated business is interesting and impressive. The passion for BBQ of an active medical doctor and his family led to this restaurant opening on weekends several months ago. It is still open only on Friday evenings, and for lunch on Saturday, and Sunday. You are encouraged to arrive early as they can run out of food. We visited on a Friday about a half hour after they opened, there was a line and finding a parking space and a table challenging. By the time we left they were out of ribs. This is an order at the counter style restaurant and they bring you your food, ours within a few minutes. They have seating inside and out. I had some lunch at this spot Sunday for lunch and the overall experience was good. I ordered brisket and corn bread and my guest ordered pulled pork sandwich with potato salad. The time frame to get my food was normal and the ambiance was what one would expect for a small BBQ spot. We got the pulled pork sandwich and pulled pork platter. The pulled pork was very good and they had many different sauces that they make in house that was really good. There was 3 people working in there at the time we went and they were very nice and helpful while trying to figure out what we wanted. Serious Texas BBQ vibes! We've been to some of the best in Lockhart, Austin, Houston, Dallas, etc. Go early on the weekends, line was long and they sold out of brisket by 12:45! The meats were legit. So far, our favorite BBQ restaurant in the area, and we've been to I think all of them. When this place opened, we of course had to try. We had the 4 meats and all were delicious! Sides were mostly ok (didn't like the mac n cheese), but the meats were the stars and made up for the sides. Wish we took pix of the food but we were too busy eating! Their BBQ sauces were tasty too. So, I'll start by apologizing for not posting any pictures. Honestly, I started tasting and couldn't stop. Before I realized no pics, there was nothing left to photograph! Earlier this year, we drove out to Texas and did a BBQ crawl through Louisiana, Alabama, Houston, Austin, Lockhart and San Antonio. We ordered the same thing at every spot and tried them all. Some great spots out there on another level. Today we gave Smoke & Fire a try and I can tell you, they are on fire legit. As long as they keep doing whatever they did today, I would say they are right there with some of the best. Brisket was super flavorful, moist with nice seasoning. We got a mixture from the point and flat without even asking which was awesome. Cooked to just the right temp and rested properly before slicing. Served at proper temp and not cold. Not oily. If I could change one thing, a little more crust on the bark maybe. When you wrap, it's normal for the bark to soften and I think the benefit outweighs the softer bark. Pulled pork awesome flavor. Nice bark and flavorful throughout. Well seasoned. Tastes like they add tallow to the pork after pulled to enhance the flavor and they don't over do it. Chicken was good. Skin could have been a little crispier but well seasoned and meat was moist and flavorful. Ribs were the star of the show I think. And I'm normally not a big rib guy. These were barked up nice! Great flavor. Fantastic dry rub. Nice bite with a little kick at the end. Really, really good. I would bet these would place in any Texas rib competition. Sides pretty good. Beans maybe a little heavy on the bourbon, but nice change from the overly sweet beans you normally get. Potato salad was well done. Collards I really enjoyed. I like them a little undercooked and flavorful so these were spot on. Mac and cheese looked good but I didn't have any due to allergens. Place is large and the covered outdoor porch is nice. Parking great. I saw last week the owner was out in Austin exploring. Que out there is on another level and I'll say you guys are very close. Whatever you did today, just keep doing that. If you have to make any adjustments, keep them minor and don't ruin a great thing. I'm definitely headed back. Hands down, THE best BBQ in the Sarasota area, I think. read more

Saw this spot while driving on Clark road. I have been looking for a bbq spot in Sarasota since Nancy's closed. This will be my go to bbq spot from here on out. Pulled pork is amazing and ribs were fall off the bone awesome. Looking forward to trying their brisket which as of now is only served on Fridays and Saturdays. You can really taste the Smokey flavor which I personally love- no need to over do BBQ with crazy amounts of seasonings IMO 3 sauces to choose from,all of which are a bit on the sweeter side, but each had its own unique flavor. Ok here I go again. I almost hate doing these kind of reviews, because the next time I visit, the place will be packed. l've lived all over the US and been to 44 states and many countries. I'm very surprised to find a hole in the wall 2 miles from my home with some of the best BBQ I've ever had outside of Texas. I went there last Saturday and had the brisket, Ribs and pulled pork. Brisket was moist and seasoned to perfection, soft, everything you would expect for a competition brisket. But this place is a family restaurant in Sarasota. Expectations were low when I walked in but they were blown away once I tasted the brisket. The ribs were also tender and well seasoned. But I believe there's a little trick to the ribs. I feel like there's a fusion of tastes happening. I can taste the seasoning for spare ribs from a Chinese restaurant. That mix makes them delicious. The pulled pork was Ok. We can't all be perfect. . The sides were also ok. (Probably the only thing that needs improvement) Yet notice I still gave them a 5 star rating. Why because I went back today and now they had a Dino Rib. If the brisket is competition quality, the Dino rib was out of this world. I can't remember how much it was but it is worth every penny of whatever it was I paid. The ribs and brisket have a nice smoke ring and are very tender. Easy to chew and come off of the bone. The ribs have an even balance of savory and sweet. I loved the brisket, it's not overly seasoned just right but more dusting of it or longer marinade time won't hurt. It's a very good seasoning blend on that brisket. The pull from the meat and fat is good. Not too fatty and not too lean. We liked the spicy BBQ sauce the best.
