Driving up to the place. The parking lot was packed, always a good sign the food would be good. After viewing the extensive menu, I settled on the Pete's trio which consisted of 2 pork ribs, smoked sausage (they offer a vary of different sausages, I got the cheese and jalapeño), 1/4 lb of brisket, pickles and one side (recommend the camp beans or the parm potatoes). You order and pay, they hand you a buzzer. When the buzzer goes off you go to the kitchen window to pick up your food. The bar has just about everything you could ask for, including local wines and brews. I just went with a soft drink, my only complaint was they served Pepsi products which I am not particularly fond of, but at least they had Dew. You have to find your own table indoor and outdoor seating. But getting back to the food. Simply put, some of the best sausage and ribs I've ever had. The brisket was very tasty, but a bit more fatty than I'd like to see. Also, I did not see burnt ends on the menu, which is it my go to. The place is clean and the staff are quick to clean tables as soon as customers leave. Overall a very good experience with high quality food. Prices are reasonable to other BBQ places in the area. Great place to get some barbecue. Everything we had was really good. You got to wait in line which is usually outside the building, but they're pretty quick. You order your food pay up front and then go find a seat. Once things are ready your little buzzer goes off and you go up to the counter and get your food. They have a nice assortment of drinks. A good selection on the soda machine and a lot of sauces. And anything else you would need to eat barbecue. The inside was loud and crowded. After seeing a friend's post on FB and pics of his birthday meal here I knew we would stop one day. We had decided to make a trip from Liverpool to Watkins Glen for a hike down the Gorge trail on a beautiful sunny fall day with leaves about 60% fall colors. Smokin Pete's is on Route 14 which happens to be on that route so we stopped about 1:30 for lunch. I chose brisket dinner which comes with a slab of brisket and burnt ends corn bread pickles candied jalepenos pickled onions and two sides. Everything is homemade. The Parmesan salt potatoes were butte try and tender and cheesy oh my! The brisket was perfect smoke juicy and tender and the burnt ends were so juicy inside crispy outside flavor burst in your mouth good. We love brisket and things the best in CNY. The ribs were also tender moist flavorful and pulled easily off the bone. Seating inside and out but it does get busy. By the time we left we understood why there is a sign out front says the line forms here. I'll make that drive just for the brisket!! You order to the right just inside the door at the closest end of the bar and then wait for your tracker to beep. It is loud you won't miss it. Pick up across from middle of bar at the kitchen window. Doesn't take long very friendly staff condiments etc all next to the window and plenty of indoor seating as well as outside. My absolute favorite restaurant in the Greater Geneva area. They have a seasonal winter menu that is a bit different than their full BBQ menu, both menus are awesome, but do your research on hours and menus. There is a big bar with rotating taps. The outside is amazing for summer. I absolutely love their brisket, ribs are awesome, my husband loves the wings. All the sides are great. It is counter service with a buzzer and it can get really busy during peak summer day mealtimes, I have noted especially weekend holidays, which is great for them, not great when there is a long wait for great food with small kids. If you are just there to drink there is a separate ordering area for drinks only. I live less than 10 minutes away and always bring out of town visitors. Best brisket EVER Best pulled pork and their sauces are excellent because you choose how much to use instead of the restaurants slathering everything so you can't see or taste the quality of the meat. These people are for real. The sides are tasty too! Especially the beans which have actual pieces of meat in them for flavor. It's not a fancy place by any means. I found this nice local bar/BBQ on my travels in the Finger Lake region. What a wonderful find. Nothing fancy. But the food was outstanding. The decor was your typical local kind of feel. I like that though. I have gotten great food and drinks in these types of places. They have a decent size bar. You stand in a line at the corner of the bar to place your order for food and drinks. They give you the round pager to let you know when your food is done. Meanwhile you can find a seat. There was a line (good sign). It moved quickly. When your pager lights up and beeps, you proceed to pick it up at a window/pass through. There are plenty of condiments, napkins, plastic ware, etc. here. The ribs are to die for!! They have a rub on them. The ribs & brisket I got were prepared by wood fire. It had this wonderful Smokey flavor. Don't know about the drinks though. Just had a water. It is a decent size place. Seating in front and a back room too. Outside area with seating was great. Corn hole out there. If you like barbecue, I highly recommend Smokin' Pete's if you are in the area. read more

In the nearly half century I have walked the earth I have not found a place that has mastered Ribs, Brisket, Wings, and Pulled Pork. We also orders half the sides on the menu and they were great...mostly. I am a bit of a connoisseur and snobby when it comes to coleslaw. The coleslaw was a Mayo base (which I love) yet it was a light Mayo base/light mixture and lacked flavor.... Yet it was okay. Additionally, I enjoyed the cornbread but the portion control on it was definitely small which is weird because everything else was fair or a good size. A MUST TRY! read more
