Great experience. We were stood up by another company (Sunday of labor day weekend). This put us in panic mode. We contacted Smooth Moves and he said he could add us on at the end of the day. He was very good with his communications - let us know it would take longer because one of his customers moves was more involved. Eventually, we asked if we would be able to change it to Labor day. (We were tired and stressed and just not up to it). He agreed. Again he was great about with his communication. He contacted us in the morning to let us know when his crew would arrive. Once here - the 2 men were very nice, efficient and it really did go smoothly. Thanks for salvaging what started out as a very bad day. I had mentally written numerous positive reviews for this company. I had received a glowing personal recommendation and wanted to support this fledgling company. When Ed came out to do the initial consult -- to determine how much I had, how much the move would be -- he instilled confidence. He was pleasant to deal with and seemed knowledgeable. However, once I agreed to go with him, he was slow to respond to texts and/or phone calls. Megan was more responsive, but didn't always know the information because Ed had it. We scheduled my date. However, he never showed up! Finally, I managed to reach Megan and was informed that Ed was "stuck on a job in NC." I understood and was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that "things happen." We eventually rescheduled for the following week. Of course, this did result in extra expenses on my end (double-rent, etc.). But, I was willing to accept that it was an anomaly. Prior to the Tuesday move, I contacted THEM on Friday for confirmation. I received confirmation on Sunday and was told I'd hear from them on Monday re: exact timing. Monday afternoon I reached out to them. Ed never responded and Megan told me she hadn't heard from him, but she'd let me know as soon as she did. Eventually, after 11:00 pm, Ed let me know that he was on his way back from NC and would be at my house at 11:30 am -- ready to go. At 11:00 am -- 30 minutes before he was scheduled to show up -- he called and told me he was 1 hours and 45 minutes from the state border. He'd been driving all night!!!! I suggested he might need to rest. He eventually said he'd come by "early evening for staging" and then load up and move the next day, Wednesday (8 days after the original date). I didn't hear from him until after I texted him at 11:20 PM. By that point, I was nervous about his complete and repeated lack of communication throughout this whole scenario. I started to get concerned with him having my stuff in his truck and not communicating where he was or when I'd see anything, I have heard enough nightmare stories about movers. I'm still waiting for my $150 deposit to be returned. In short, he MAY do a good job -- if he ever shows up -- but I was suffered emotionally, financially, and even physically due to his lack of communication and professionalism. IT'S NOT WORTH IT!!!! read more
