So I was going through some of the other reviews and I'm going to have to agree about them possibly keeping it darker here to act as if they're already closed, because it was very dark when we pulled up. We also pulled up about an hour before close, but I will say the staff never gave off a vibe they were closed (like ducking behind counters), so it may just be this store is poorly lit outside. Regardless, I had a good experience and the staff was friendly inside all around, even letting my friend use the restroom before we actually placed our order. We got the Angel food smoothie, which was amazing. Definitely recommend for anyone not sure what they should get or haven't been to a Smoothie King before. read more

The employees at this particular location need A LOT more training or ANY training frankly, on smoothie making BASICS, common courtesy, manners, polite conversation, you get the idea... For instance, the young girl who made me a watery smoothie rolled her eyes at me no less than 3 times when I politely asked for it to be thickened a bit. She was extremely rude and impolite to me as was the young man who was "managing" the store and I use the term managing loosely. On this particular day the main way they conduct business, the intercom on their drive through, was broken and there was no sign, they were just content to let customers pile up in the drive thru and ignore us. So I came into the store to order and was treated extremely rudely by the 3 employees including said manager. WON'T BE RETURNING AND WILL TELL ANYONE WHO'LL LISTEN TO AVOID THIS STORE AT ALL COSTS!!! read more

There were two major factors that influenced such a low rating for this review. I had never been to this Smoothie King location, and I happen to be in this part of town to visit the Arboretum. I have only been to another SK location once before, and it was years ago, so I thought I'd give them another try. The visit was mid-day on a Saturday. It was busy. It's understandable there may be delays in service, but they were understaffed. Grossly understaffed. It appears there were only two people working. The inside lobby had people waiting and there was a constant stream of cars in the drive-thru. We waited an excessive amount of time to place our order even though there was no line at the register. We were acknowledged separately by both employees that they would be with us shortly. Finally, after what seemed like a ridiculously long wait just to place an order, the REAL wait began as we watched both employees try to fulfill the endless stream of orders. At some point a third employee began their shift, and jumped right in to help with the queue. Now even with this third employee in the mix, we still had a long wait ahead of us. I would really implore management to look into their scheduling, because it seemed like there should have been at least a fourth and possibly a fifth person. I've been to other smoothie establishments and I've easily seen more people supporting the business as standard practice during peak hours. In short, the coverage was disappointing. Next, that leads me to the other point of concern I have for this location, and that is; the employee who made my smoothie didn't wash the blender jar. I saw him grab a used jar, take it over to the sink; and almost think about washing it- then just not. I was really blown away by this. I have never seen someone make a smoothie with a dirty jar. It looked as through the previous smoothie was also a strawberry banana concoction- but it seems like even reusing a dirty jar once is crossing a line. If you don't wash them every time, what if the person has a food allergy or if you're not washing it multiple times, that seems like gross territory. It was so busy and we had already waited so long. I was with a group of people and I know we all just wanted to leave and move on, so I felt like raising the issue would've added stress to my day (and the group I was with) as well as the team members working. I know they were trying to hustle to get those orders fulfilled, but it's 1.) A training issue. It should be a non-negotiable to clean jars every single time. 2.) A staffing issue. If the store had an adequate number of people working, someone could've been washing the mountain of piled-up used jars and not allow an employee to make a reckless decision like not using clean equipment. With the volume of business being conducted, it seemed shortsighted to schedule so lean. I don't place the blame on the employees- this is a management issue. How is having two people, and then later a third work peak hours on a Saturday feasible? The original two employees were both working the drive-thru, making the smoothies + bowls, taking orders at the register and who does that leave to support them with things like cleaning the jars and all the other operations to make sure things are running properly? When the third employee arrived, they jumped right in to help with the backup of orders, but they were already so far behind, who knows when that backlog of jars got washed. Overall, really disappointing and a waste of our group's time. I saw how hard these employees were working and it's a shame they were not supported by management to make their jobs easier and deliver a better caliber experience. read more

I just left the location off of Buckner and Garland Rd. I made it there at 8:46pm. As I arrived the store was being prepared to close as they had the inside gate half way down. However I thought they would still serve me. I was wrong! As I entered there was a black guy in the kitchen and a young Hispanic lady in the kitchen. the hispan lady said we were closed unless i had a pick up order. I'll never go here again. First off, I drove to the smoothie King in the town east mall area and they informed me that they didn't have the ingredients to make the smoothie bowl Had to drive to another location Casa, Linda area about 15 minutes away. Was glad I did.! Upon entry noticed the loud music playing-gave off a great Vibe! Girl behind the counter was very nice even offered to let me taste the pitaya base for my smoothie...It was Delish! This is the only location I have been to and was so disappointed last night when I was finishing my smoothie, through my straw I slurped up something...took it out my mouth and it was a small balled up piece of paper like from a straw wrapper. Grossed out but thought okay maybe it's just from the end of my straw...so I took another sip and felt something in my mouth again. This time it was a small piece of plastic or maybe some type of course animal fur! Yeah super gross that I nearly finished this drink before discovering any of this! Makes me wonder about anything else I may have swallowed before. I will say that they do work fast here, but idk if that's what lead to there being things in my drink. read more

Smoothie king is a wonderful place. I came here a couple months ago, but I didn't know if smoothies were really all that good. This establishment makes the best smoothies, offering a wide selection of smoothies. (On the app, it shows you more) For example, Apple Kiwi Kale, one of my favorite smoothies here, is a good suggestion. About the wide selection, there is a coffee smoothie selection, kids menu and more. The staff is always nice.They make it with care. No one is really there until upsize Friday, giving you time to go and get smoothies during the week. read more

THE WORST! Don't bother to stop here EVER! my family and I stopped by to grab smoothies in the evening. I'm pregnant and really hadn't been able to stomach anything for the day without getting sick. We hoped a smoothie would provide the nutrients I needed. We saw that they closed at 9 and rushed over. We sat at the drive thru and were ignored for 5 minutes so we drove up to the window and continued to be ignored. We tapped on the glass and finally an employee either Chance or Phil (based on the other review with the dudes photo-we had the shorter Hispanic kid) came to the window and said they were closed. We reminded him that the website said they closed at 9 and he said "Naw, we close at 8:45" we asked why he let us sit at the drive thru for 5 minutes without saying anything and he said with his headset on "I was busy washing dishes. I could make you a smoothie in a dirty blender if you want." There was no need to be sarcastic. We simply didn't understand why he unapologetically wasted our time. But it didn't stop there!!!!!! As we pulled away from the window Chance or Phil gave us the middle finger (with my child in the car and fully aware of what was happening) and stuck his tongue out at us. If I could rate a place 0 stars I would. I've never written a yelp review but I've also never had such a scary encounter at a restaurant or smoothie shop. I called the location to order a smoothie- I wanted a blueberry, mango, strawberry smoothie that my dad has gotten me from here a night before. I am raw vegan so I enjoy smoothies with only fruit. I told the guy on the phone that I knew it wasn't on the menu, but I wanted a smoothie with only these 3 fruits. I asked him if this was possible and he said that it was, but he didn't know how to ring it up. I told him that I didn't have my receipt so I wouldn't be able to tell him how it was previously rung up. He told me that it was weird that I didn't know and I apologized. I suggested maybe he replace the protein with a third fruit, or even add a fruit and just omit the protein when he made it. He told me he couldn't do either of these things, and told me to choose something on the menu. He then went on to lecture me about how rude it is to come somewhere and order something that does not exist on the menu. Point taken. Didn't need the lecture but I understand. I asked if I could speak to someone else and he told me that he was the only person I could speak to and he was the manager on duty. He also told me me to "not get smart" with him because it was "his shop" and he could "hang up at any time". I told him that I would just go elsewhere if he could not blend the three fruits, to which he responded "your total will be at the window". I was so excited to get my smoothie! I went up to the window and paid, during which he told me to grow up and to never order something that's not on a menu. He gave me back my card and handed me my smoothie. It was a pale lilac and smelt like protein powder. I then checked my receipt and he had charged me for and given me a smoothie with protein. He closed the window on me and did not return for 5 minutes. When he opened the window he asked me what I wanted I just asked him for a refund because it was not what I ordered. He told me that I didn't order something that was on the menu and "what did you expect? The thing you ordered doesn't even exist!". At this point he was yelling and being aggressive, and throwing his hands in my face. I am 5'7" and have a soft voice, mind you, and am very non confrontational. I told him that I just wanted a refund. He told me that I 'better' never come back here and then closed the window on me. I stood dumbfounded for a second and then began to walk away when he opened the window and demanded my debit card. I was startled but realized he was going to refund me. When he gave me my card back I asked for his name, to which he asked me what my name was. He eventually wrote it on the receipt. The typed name on the receipt is Isaac but he said his name is Charles. At this point I'm honestly scared for my safety. I'm new to town and it's scary to think that someone who works steps away from where I live has threatened me, because telling me I "better not come back" IS a threat. I am scared for my safety and I also can not get smoothies from the closest smoothie place anymore. I'm writing this review because my parents are business owners and I know they would be baffled if this happened and was not brought to their attention , and so that anyone who reads it will STAY clear of this location. Thanks for making me write my first yelp review it was a truly awful experience. When he refunded me he took back the first receipt that said issac- and Charles written over it.
