This review is for TOCA which operates inside D-Bat…read more Our family has had a mixed experience at TOCA Marietta. When we first joined, sessions started right on the hour and ran smoothly. Over time, though, the start times have drifted -- sometimes beginning 10-15 minutes late and wrapping up early before the next session. It's frustrating not knowing when the actual instruction time begins or ends. Another issue is the inconsistency with the coaching. The coaches seem to rotate frequently, and there doesn't appear to be a clear, consistent curriculum from week to week. Some coaches focus more on warm-ups and running than on skill development, while others (like Odell and Ronaldo) do an excellent job teaching technique and engaging the kids. Unfortunately, we haven't seen them in a while, and switching days hasn't helped us find them again. We've also noticed that while the club doesn't require cleats or shin guards, several kids wear them, which gives them an advantage during drills and scrimmages. It would be helpful if TOCA clarified equipment expectations so all players can participate on an even playing field. Overall, TOCA Marietta has potential -- especially when led by strong coaches -- but the inconsistency in scheduling, coaching style, and structure has made our experience uneven. With more stability and clearer communication, this could be a great program.

This one does seem to be a little busier than the Perimeter location though, so keep in mind you may have to share the batting cages or have to wait on someone if they aren't open to sharing.

I have been a parent at Nellya for the last 7 years. Pros: your child will develop their bodies,…read moretheir discipline, their lifelong friendships, their strategic thinking skills, and their world views. My daughter's love for fencing has been fostered here, and I thank God for that. Nellya athletes consistently have top level results...and have National, World, and Olympic medal fencers. They have results under their belt! Cons: fencing isn't a cheap sport. It's not like you're letting your child join the school's basketball or football team. This is a serious sport...requiring equipment, physical maintenance, private lessons, and travel expenses. Is it worth it, YES! Besides the Pros mentioned above, it's a great way to make your child stand out in the world (especially to colleges). It's best to go on in and have a look...talk with the coaches and other parents.

I bought a groupon voucher for four fencing classes for myself. The voucher costs $42…read more At first I was not sure whether they have adult classes, because no such class was listed on their website. But in the Q&A section of the groupon deal, the owner said "Classes are for adults with no experience and are offered Mon and Wed. at 6 p.m". I am in my early 20s, I thought fencing might be really fun so I grabbed the deal. On first day, I realized I am the only adult in the class, the youngest student in the foil class was in primary school and oldest (beside me) was in high-school. And even the youngest student had one+ year experience with foil so I was pretty the only (and oldest) one in the class without any clue. I thought not coming back for the rest of the 3 classes, but I do not want to waste the money. In the second class, another clueless adult showed up (apparently also misguided by the Q&A section of groupon), and I thought I have found company. That adult didn't turn up again:( I still give the place 5 stars because I think the practice would be fantastic for children (if I would be given the chance to learn fencing when I was a child, I would be very happy) and it is my fault that I did not do my research thoroughly before I bought the deal. The coach was very strict and experienced. Most of the children I believe want to compete nationally and the skill could help them to enter top universities.

However, our experience with the manager/owner, Shon, introduced an element of discomfort that cannot be overlooked. In preparation for this event, I visited the location on multiple occasions and had not previously encountered him. His presence and demeanor on the day of our gathering felt noticeably reactive, particularly once it became apparent that our group--comprised of approximately 40 to 50 Black attendees--was utilizing the space. This created an impression that our presence was, in some way, unexpected or unwelcome. Additionally, there was inconsistency and lack of clarity regarding your policies. We were initially informed that external speakers were not permitted. Afterward, we were told we could only utilize the facility's radio system. When we requested a station change to better suit the tone of our private event, the response involved internal deliberation and hesitation. When Shon eventually addressed us, his explanation--though carefully worded--suggested an underlying reluctance to allow what he indirectly referred to as "urban" music. While he attempted to frame this in consideration of "families" and "Christian patrons," the implication was both unnecessary and, frankly, offensive. It is important to emphasize that this was a paid, private event. As such, it is reasonable to expect that the environment would be tailored to the preferences of the hosting party, rather than hypothetical or intermittent walk-in guests. The repeated presence of management circling our group, observing, and intermittently interjecting added to an atmosphere that felt less like hospitality and more like scrutiny. While we remained focused on enjoying the occasion we planned and paid for, the overall experience was undeniably impacted by what felt like biased assumptions and differential treatment. The situation left us feeling uncomfortable and, quite honestly, disrespected. I trust this feedback will be taken seriously and used to reassess how guests--regardless of background--are engaged and accommodated moving forward.

I've passed by this place a million times but when out little one started playing soccer here, I finally had an opportunity to check it out. There is an area for batting practice as well as an indoor soccer field. Nothin too fancy about this place but I do appreciate that there are plenty of bleachers available to sit and watch as well as bathrooms available. This place is pretty clean and the staff are helpful if you need anything.
