Spurred on by all the positive Yelp reviews, I decided next time I went to a show at the creative alliance I would check them out. Rolled in about an hour and a half before my show so I would have plenty of time to enjoy my dinner. We started out with a few wild card beers, $3 for bartenders choice which happened to be a Unibroue product that never disappoints. We sipped on our beers and chatted with folks at the communal table while we waited for our order. The hush puppies were the highlight of the meal, crispy and corny complemented perfectly by the honey butter. Fries were twice cooked, fresh and crispy with a chipotle aioli. Wife got a vegan smoked apple sausage with 'kraut and onions whereas I went with the duck/bacon with onions and hots n a nice brioche. The onions were almost raw and overpowered the mild sausage which had no discernible duck flavor, sort of a miss for me but my wife seemed to enjoy hers. For the next round of beers we went for the wild card again and they had switched the keg and it was now a bright and tasty hard cider. They have a great selection of beers on tap and in bottles. The Bartenders are friendly and attentive. Hopefully next time I will win the sausage lottery but I will be hitting the hush puppies hard, for sure. This place is a hidden gem on the East side of Patterson Park. There main thing they serve is sausages and they have vegan options (which the gf enjoyed very much). Also they have fries as starters which I would definitely recommend and their dipping sauce is amazing -- (unfortunately the dipping sauce is not vegan friendly). The service is also very speedy, we got our food within 10 mins of ordering it. They also have this cool thing they do called the Wild Card Beer . What it is changes every 45-60 mins I think, but they do not tell you what the Wild card is until you order it and take a sip first. Its cool because it gets you to try new beers that you may have never thought to order. Also the Wild Card beer is only $3. Would definitely come back again!!! read more

Awesome spot! Snake Hill is in an old row home, so it is set up more like a bar than a restaurant: there is a long bar in the front, and a few small 2-person tables on the other side. Behind the bar area, there are a couple long communal tables. I think that this might get crowded, particularly if you come in a big group. It's located in a end of the block row-home, so they have added in windows on the "long side" of the building, letting in plenty of natural light. It's great. I came here on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch with 2 other friends. It was surprisingly crowded! We were able to snag 2 seats at the bar and the couple sitting next to us left shortly after that, so we were all able to sit. I They have a few beers on tap and a longer list of cans and bottles. I thought that the beers were pretty affordable. My friends and I ordered a few of the sausages and appetizers. I got the PhoQ (yes, pronounce it phonetically, and say it outloud). Additionally, we ordered the coleslaw, onion rings, and baked beans. I'm not really a fan of baked beans, but I thought that these were pretty good. You can't exactly go wrong with onion rings and the coleslaw was fine, but not exactly memorable. I think that's probably because I was entirely consumed with the PhoQ. It's really, REALLY good! You also get the option to add 2 of the 4: sauerkraut, spicy peppers, sweet peppers, and onions. We all went with the spicy peppers and onions. The spicy peppers and a slight kick (I think, although, I may have been the PhoQ). Really damn good. My one complaint is that they can be a bit slow. The bartender seemed a bit overwhelmed and when one of my friends ordered a second round of sausages, it took her a while to put in the order. Also, it takes a while for the food to be prepared, but you can actually see them grilling the sausages and warming up the appetizers. read more

Only reviewing drinks- they have this hilarious mystery drink option for $3. Which is half or less of their other options (good selection here). My friend and I decided to try it, and it was a nice cider. We ordered it for our next round, too. Definitely will go back and see what the mystery drink is. Snake Hill has been excellent both times we've visited, and we're really looking forward to trying more of their menu options. We particularly enjoy the spicy peppers, as they've got great heat and are tender enough to go well with the grilled sausage without the skin of the pepper being too obtrusive. The fries are excellent, especially with the spicy mayo, and the hush puppies are good (but a little oily if you take them home and reheat them). This place was popping on a recent Saturday afternoon...we managed to snag the last two available seats around 4:30pm, which is pretty early to be so busy, but I wad glad to see it-looks like the neighborhood is embracing snake hill, which is great to see. Just stopped in for a celebratory cocktail, which was just fine, but can't comment on the food and it's bar service only. Definitely want to come back to try the food, which I've only heard good things about. Seriously great casual good. Very small Rowhouse-sized restaurant/bar, with just a couple of tables in the back. I sat at the bar with a friend, and Dean, the bartender took exceptional care of us, making recommendations and checking on us when appropriate. The food was OUTSTANDING. We shared the Mac & Cheese, fries with the truffle shuffle, tomato cucumber salad, the Pho Real sausage sandwich (hands down fave!) the Mighty Duck sausage sandwich, and we were fattys & had to try both of the desserts, the Xango (fried cheesecake...Yummm!) and the no bake peanut butter chocolate bar. As a big Johnny Rad's fan, I was excited to hear about the opening of Snake Hill! This bar is a terrific addition to the neighborhood. The atmosphere is laid-back and inviting, with a creative and unique interior. I love the scrabble piece bar and pool ball beer taps! As a vegetarian, I wasn't sure what I'd be in for with the menu, but I really enjoyed the vegan mexican chipotle sausage. Great beer selection and friendly service. First things first, the fries. Potatoes are what makes up the blood that runs through my veins, they sustain me. These are my favorite fries in Baltimore thus far. Hand cut and think but not steak fry thick and so crispy. I could probably write a sonnet in regards to my love for these fries but this is enough. I've never had a thing for brats but to tried the brat of the week which was a pork cheese and jalapeño and it was really good. Got into this place on my latest trip to Baltimore. Sweet little joint that has a good amount of craft beers and a sausage heavy menu. They even have vegan sausage if you're into that. Been meaning to check out Snake Hill for quite some time and finally got a chance to pop in on a Saturday afternoon. The food was absolutely excellent and menu items were priced extremely reasonably. Really extensive beer list which shows a lot of thought went into it. However, the real star here are Snake Hill's sausages. My girlfriend and I each got house-made items, the "Pho Real" for her and the alligator andouille for myself. Both were fantastic but I'd give the slight edge to the Pho Real. If you're in the mood for gourmet hot dogs, this is the place to go. The layout is much more of a bar than a restaurant. You order and pick up your food/drinks at the bar. This wasn't an issue when we arrived, but bar seats quickly filled up and the crowd around the bar made it difficult to get the bartender's attention. I recommend sitting at the bar if possible. They have a good selection of draft beers and some cocktail specials. I enjoyed the Gin for Days (gin, simple syrup, and lemon juice) and also ordered the Mighty Duck and onion rings. The onion rings were amazing - crispy but not overbattered and the onion inside melts when you bite in. I highly recommend the Sriracha Ranch dip sauce to go with. The Mighty Duck sandwich was really good. I didn't get to try my friend's DiPasquale, but given how quickly he downed it, I assume it was good as well. If you're hungry, I don't think one sausage alone is going to cut it, so be prepared to try a variety. read more

The sausages are awesome. Not too greasy, great variety. They were out of the rattlesnake-rabbit sausage but were very apologetic and had a ton more to choose from. The onion rings were perfection and I highly recommend getting the house made chipotle mayo to dip them in. A half portion was big enough to share. A corner dive bar with some serious food cred. The assortment of brews and sausages is impressive. I have tried most of the sandwiches and can safely say you can't go wrong with whatever you pick. Each has a distinct flavor that embodies the fusion essence that it's going for. My favorite is the Pho Real, the combination of hoisin and jalapeños hits the Pho mark (with some extra comfort food elements). My favorite side is the truffle fries, I also really like the hush puppies but consider them more of a desert than a side. With the 4th of July just a day behind us, a trip to Snake Hill for a variety of creative sausages was a must. Snake Hill is a little neighborhood corner bar that seems to have many locals pop in for a bite to eat, and a place to chill out from the summer heat. Snake Hill has a pretty extensive menu of flavorful sausages and a variety of beers on tap. Me and my dinner date opted for a sausage of our own and then we agreed on one sausage to share. I decided to take a walk on the wild side and order the Alligator Andouille sausage topped with sweet peppers and grilled onions. The alligator sausage was juicy, with good flavor, and to be honest, it did taste a bit like a spicy chicken sausage. My dinner partner ordered the Rosemary and Lamb sausage, which she enjoyed, but felt that it was lacking in lamb flavor. We shared the Pho sausage, which to me was the highlight of all the sausages. The Pho sausage literally tasted like a bowl of pho! I was shocked how they could pack such bold flavors, as a bowl of pho,into a sausage...mind boggling. The buns that they use for their sausages, i feel like they need to package and sell...they were delicious. We also shared a small order of the Truffle Shuffle fries, which we're really good. If you want sausages and lots of fried food, this place is your heaven. I've never eaten more fried food (outside of state fairs) than at this place and all of it was delicious - hush puppies, fried green beans, fries and fried oreos! The sausages sound better than they taste but the chicken rico was legitimately good and so was the pho sandwich (although with all the toppings, didn't taste the sausage much). The alligator and rabbit rattlesnake were just ok. The only disappointing thing was the margarita I asked the bartender to make - for calling itself a cocktail place, it was a pretty bad margarita. Being a margarita fanatic, I have had way too many in my life and know when one is poorly made. I wish I had a better cocktail experience here. This place is worth a visit. read more

Awesome joint. I used to work right in this area so it's nice to see a neat, new option in a kind of stale area. SH is really cool inside, I liked the colors and vibe, and also enjoyed what was coming out of the speakers (The Talking Heads on this Saturday afternoon). Beer selection is similar to Rad's and that's more than fine for me. As for the food, we were very impressed with the selection of sausages. Most of the menu is pick your meat and pick your toppings, but there are a few "creations" that already list various toppings. I wish a few of the creation sausage sandwiches contained chicken or vegan sausages. I got the vegan apple sage sausage with peppers and whole grain mustard. NOM. onion rings were also delish. I had been meaning to go to Snake Hill for sometime and finally got to it. It is essentially hot dogs with a bar. I ordered the lamb, may have been a little burnt, greek fries (delicious was a special), and two of their cocktails that had mezcal in it, not particularly strong but decent. I also ordered the fried cheese cake, i likeed the dough didnt really care much for the cheesecake portion it was good. A group of us went to Snake Hill recently and really enjoyed it! There is a huge variety of sausages that my friends enjoyed, including a few vegan sausages. (I wish there had been some began, gluten-free sausages - but that's a long shot, so I enjoyed their delicious French fries. The atmosphere was great and the servers were nice and helpful. I do wish they had air conditioning, or had more fans. They had a few ceiling fans, but we were there on a mid-70's evening and it was sweltering because the grill is in their main room - so probably wouldn't go there for a date till at least October. read more
