    Fish tacos and Cesar salad

We love this neighborhood mainstay. They have signature staples like the fish tacos and crab cakes (my fav summer meal is the crab cake, side Cesar and a glass of white wine) but also a variety of specials. They make amazing soups, and have a great brunch (our daughter loves the French toast with berries and fresh cream). Very family friendly- they have board games, side walk chalk and they support so many local schools and charities. Ive ordered their crab quiche for family holidays and it's always a hit- easy and delicious. We had our son's baptism party there. It was great to have so many people in a family friendly space instead our row home. It's just makes for a nice casual meal.

Cap. Larry's is a neighborhood favorite with some awesome signature dishes. Having eaten almost everything on the menu I can wholeheartedly recommend several notable items. Firstly for aps: the buffalo wings stand tall against any out there, also the HoJo style clam strips and Cheese curds are fried delights. For entrees the Fish Sammy (mahi with fresh veg on wheat) can hardly be beat and is one of my favorites but lately I've been addicted to the Devin Burger ( cheese, bacon, avocado, fried egg, special sauce). However both of these and most other prepared foods on earth pale in comparison to Larry's totally legit Crab Cakes. They are just ridiculously perfect. If you are looking for the quintessential MD crab cake, this is it. Owned and operated by one of the friendliest brother / sister teams on earth, you can feed good supporting this family friendly divey neighborhood anchor spot.

My husband and I were stuck in Baltimore for a bit longer than intended due to a flight delay. On a rainy Sunday afternoon, our options were limited, but I really wanted some good crab cakes. The typical touristy places were open, so we decided to veer off course and I'm glad we did. The place is "dive-y" in looks, but the beer selection and food are first class. We started out with pretzel bites- warm and gooey, which is what I was looking for coming out of the cold rain. My husband got the fish and chips and I got the crab cake platter (which he also ate some of, because the cakes are huge.) I've been quite a few places on the east coast and have had my share of crab cakes and wow- I didn't think I would find my favorite in a bar in south Baltimore. The seasoning was perfect, it was moist, melt-in-your mouth good. The tartar was great. And the Caesar and tots to boot weren't bad at all either. My husband enjoyed the fish and chips, standard fare, nothing too special, but did rave about the fries. It's a straight shot to BWI from the bar, so if we're in the area again, we'll make our way out.

Best crab cakes in the area. Love the decor. Looks like they had a lot of board games for game nights. Fun dive. Will be back again.

Service was perfection. The interior has a great dark wood/chandelier, old-school bar vibe and comfortable seating without it being too noisy when packed. There is some signage about the poet himself. We started of with the "cheese dip" which is an interesting way to describe a pretzel appetizer. But boy howdy, the cheese dip was enormous, which complemented the salty, buttery pretzels perfectly. The stuffed lamb was pretty reasonably priced and came with spinach and potatoes. Both that and the strip steak were a bit heavy on the sauce though, but otherwise, great dishes. Don't forget to swing by the bathroom. I just really like the posters in the hallway. The bathrooms were nice though. Overall, this is a reasonably-priced, inviting atmosphere, and tasty good. Great spot for the area.

I also got a mushroom lasagna and it didn't feel hot enough/ didn't taste amazing after the first few bites. But hoping it's a one off and would like to try some other things. We weren't the biggest fan of the chicken sandwich (I think it was called the chicken royale?) we got either- it just didn't work with the combination inside the sandwich. Seemed like there was only 1 person running the whole downstairs (and maybe training someone else) but he was a burst of sunshine keeping it together. Because of the 2 dishes not really hitting the mark but fish and chips are great id give it between 3 & 4 stars! Will come back for the fish & chips and try something else as the atmosphere was lovely and service was nice. Also looks like they have nice deals for every day of the week at the upstairs portion.

The only odd thing was that our server seemed to change halfway through our meal without anyone mentioning it. The fried green tomatoes (not pictured) were excellent and definitely worth ordering if they're on the menu. I had the shepherd's pie--it had great flavor but was unfortunately very salty, making it hard to finish. Overall, good food, great atmosphere, and a spot I'd recommend if you're in the area before a show.

There's no flash. There are no gimmicks. It's a local bar to go grab a drink and you're not in the mood for the trendy packed spots. It's very unassuming and great neutral space. Anyone can show up, any time. Everyone's welcomed. You can have a good convo w/o having to scream thru it. MASSIVE PLUS *smile*!!! From a musical perspective, all sorts of genres pump thru the system and the ability to make selections is much better than other bars, which is great. It's even better when your selections are getting other people to enjoy the music and their time there, as well. Always a crowd pleaser. Aside from a fully stocked bar, there's a great beer selection. I happen to LOVE ciders and there's always an excellent choice available. The bartenders are always welcoming and accommodating. People come to unwind and have a good time w/o any pretense. I really enjoy the Tavern for that reason.
