Alright, I'm a barista in LA so I hate yelp reviews. I try to give my fellow baristi the benefit of the doubt, even when I have to explain my drink (a cortado) and they still make it wrong. I stand with ya still and I hate to give you trouble. But at Snapdragon today the barista made and brought us our drinks with no mask on, which he seemed oblivious to. I was sort of just too shocked to do or say anything in the cafe but I have to take now to say WEAR A MASK. I know how hard it is to work during this time firsthand but it is important that you not get more people sick as a result of sloppiness and antipathy. Do better. read more

This place had a fantastic upbeat vibe from the moment we walked in. It was inviting and friendly. The woman who came out to take our order was friendly and helpful. We got our box of treat and coffee and decided to have a few bites before heading off. Everything we tried was excellent. I bake every week for my own bed and breakfast so am often disappointed but this did not disappoint at all. It was the right amount of soft, sweet, chewy for each of the 4 items we shared. i don't know what's going on cause this place has so many good reviews but it's actually ass. The service is terrible and slo. The food is mid at best and so expensive (i think I paid 17 bucks for an omelet or something that was smaller than my hand). I wouldn't recommend coming here at all / never again for me. This place is ok that is the best I would give it. The staff are super nice and it is well supported by the community but the baking is somewhat basic and feels almost out of a box like. We dreamed it was going to be like Butcher and Baker in Port Gamble with the way it is talked up but it far closer to what a good grocery store bakery would be like. read more

I use to really love this restaurant. I've been 3 times (I live in AZ) and now I think it is way to expensive for the offerings. Today we had 4 people in our group. My husband and I split an empanada dish, a beer and a glass of wine then a cinnamon roll. Our two friends bought two soups (1.5 c in paper cup), a coffee, water and cinnamon roll. We sat ourselves, had to get our own napkins, eco/plastic spoons/knives/forks and our food was served on paper plates. They even charged $6 for the two small pieces of bread served with the soup although on the board the menu was on the bread was included in the price and was $8. We were charged $11.50. I will come back for pastries but won't eat there any more. The staff has always been very pleasant. read more

We ate dinner here upon a recommendation... it would not have been a place I would've naturally stopped at given it's proximity to the gas station. And, when we first walked in, it looked like just a bakery. Oh my.. it was a fantastic experience! We ordered the roasted vegetable cannelloni from the specials menu, an artichoke and olive pizza and a house salad... and ate it all! Not only that, we enjoyed our meal on the delightful patio behind their bakery/restaurant. It was great! With no room for dessert, I grabbed a snicker-doodle and a strawberry pastry for the ferry ride home and a blueberry scone for breakfast the next day. Snapdragon was a great surprise for our day. The staff was kind enough to be up front about the wait -- for us, about 45 minutes -- but the inside is spacious and they have many breads, cakes, and pastry options for you to munch on while you wait. I ordered the sweet potato hash; it was incredible! Each bite was an explosion of flavor, the eggs were perfectly cooked, and the cabbage slaw added great texture. Excellent albeit super informal vegetarian bakery/cafe. The lunches we ordered were hit and miss, the Mediterranean plate was much better than my sandwich, but the real star was the pastry/baked goods. There was no need to make a blueberry muffin that big and excellent. We also got a cherry danish thing, easily the size of my face. Service was very chill, somewhat slow, and a little confusing (didn't see the service yourself water right away) but given we weren't in a hurry, worked quite well. This place is a hidden gem. It's tucked off the street in a corner. Great drip coffee and amazing (& huge) baked goods. The chocolate chip cookies and snickerdoodle were delicious. Well, we arrived after lunch was over but they still had baked goods (which neither my friend nor I could eat as we're both allergic to wheat) and their soups: joyously gluten free and vegan! It was a lentil soup and a tomato soup which they served with corn tortillas to make the order gluten free. This tomato soup did not taste vegan (I would love to be a vegan, but unfortunately I just can't do it because my taste buds are strongly swayed in favour of animal products). It was hands down THE BEST TOMATO SOUP I can remember eating. The lentil soup is also great, but it's just simple nicely spiced lentil soup. No big deal. I am GUTTED to have missed the all day breakfast. Next time I'm in Vashon, I will be back for brekkie. Dragon's Head cider is nice. Dry, fermented, light tasting. The only disappointment with the food and drink here was the board reading "fancy locally made wine available" when there was actually none. They do however have the beer from the brewery across the street on tap. Be sure to ask. read more

We came in during Strawberry Festival. There was a band in the parking lot. The restaurant has more of a coffee shop feel to me. The coloring, style and paintings on the wall all went well together and held a certain relaxing vibe. We had beers at first, which at $4 for Lucille is not bad. Then decided to get some bread, snicker doodle cookies and a few other items. Snap Dragon had an amazing layout of their baked goods and really all the items looked good to eat. The bread was hardy, tasty and much better than anything you could buy in a grocery store. I will go there again. I like their baked goods better than the bakery in town. read more

Amazing place. Short drive straight from the ferry. We had a pretty long wait to order and to get our food, but weren't in a hurry so it didn't bother us. I imagine life in the island is much slower than the city anyways. I ordered the breakfast burrito - it was massive I couldn't even finish it! Very flavorful. Also tried the curry soup and the homemade bread was the best I've had! I should have brought a loaf home. Also tried the chocolate cake with cream icing and strawberries. The cream was good, cake was flavorful but a little dry. They have all the pastries out so I'm thinking it got dry just from sitting out since they were pre-sliced. Next time I'll ask them to warm it and see if it's better that way. Overall great place, I'll be back for sure. read more

Our plan was to get some pastries at the bakery and get a cocktail over at the bar (this was around 4pm). The bar was full and everyone had drinks. I went up to the bar to get a drink and was told by the bartender that the bar was closed. About two minutes later I saw someone go up and get a drink from the bartender. We enjoyed the pastries but the bartender was not particularly friendly and we still don't know why we couldn't get drink service. Will take our business somewhere friendlier! read more

Wow!! I just had the most delicious and decadent sandwich ever. House made focaccia, mushrooms, eggs, Brie, arugula. Tastebuds blown and I ate the whole thing. And it was a huge serving. Just couldn't stop... Oh, and I ate all the delicious red slaw, too. What a perfect side to the rich sandwich. My son had the amazing French toast with apple compote. Another empty plate. Holy yummers! We dined on the lovely back patio, next to the cozy fireplace. It was pleasant, warm, and inviting. The food is high quality but service and atmosphere are for those who don't want to be waited on efficiently or have a comfortable place inside to eat. My friend and I chose to sit at their empty bar and waited for food to come slowly to us. We were then hurried out so they could prepare their bar for service. The other room was too cold to sit! Make sure to check if they have forks before you order. Have eaten on the patio here 3 times and no forks. Never any forks. Wtf, guys. Go buy some extra forks. Are you my grandma's house or an actual functioning restaurant? Also, rather than shaming people who order a $16 overpriced salad to-go for asking for a fork with their order, maybe get with 2019 and go buy some compostables. This place is amazing. Had lunch here with a friend when she picked up her wedding cake so this review will include both the cake and the lunch. Lunch: The lunch was beyond words good. It's been a week and I'm still thinking about the potato flautas. They were so good I haven't stopped talking about them since and could just cry at the fact that I live on the other side of the country and will never find anything as amazing out here I'm sure. The service was a little slow, but I don't even care at all because the food was so worth the wait. Cake: Best wedding cake I've ever had. They got a carrot cake and one piece was not enough. The frosting was perfect, not too sweet like you'll have a lot of times. Carrot cake is my favorite kind of cake so I've had a lot of different carrot cakes from a lot of different places and this was the winner, by far. Long story short: This place was a highlight of my trip (just after the wedding and the mountains) and there is nothing I want more in the world right now than that flautas recipe. read more

Oh Snapdragon, how I love/ despise thee. As a 30 year vegetarian, this is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is incredible, the baked goods are perfection. However, and this is a big however, the service CRAWLS beyond slowly. This is the kind of place that gives vegetarian restaurants an unfortunate name. This past visit involved me waiting for my food while my family had already finished their meals. Turned out my meal wasn't made, so after everyone was finished, they started making my food. Which I had to take to go. Long story short, stick to their delicious pastries and coffee. They are real winners and don't involve anyone more than the (extremely slow) host/ waitress. I won't even get into my last visit and the total absence of a host while she searched for someone's lost keys for 10 minutes. No joke. Initially searching for the now closed Monkey Tree, we happened upon Snapdragon for lunch. While in line, the pastries, cakes, and pies tempted us the whole way. The menu was extensive (while a bit hard to read), filled with breakfast and lunch options ranging from seasonal fare to grown-up grilled cheese. We were immediately warned the kitchen was going to take 20-30 minutes, which to me was a good sign that we had found a gem on Vashon. I settled on a sope - a corn and potato cake - with beans and veggies on the side. I had no idea what to expect but was blown away when it arrived. A thick cakey bun, topped with a to-die-for cilantro pesto, and a smokey dark sauce arrived piping hot at our table. To my surprise, the center was filled with a bright sour cream, which combined with the pesto, cut through the heartiness of the dish.
