Mushroom Swiss quiche and spicy chai latte.
    Lynne P.

The service was excellent and the owner and Haley were so fun. Mushroom Swiss quiche and spicy chai latte. The crust was flaky and the quiche was so savory delicious. The chai latte was made with oat milk and just the perfect spice blend. The restaurant is very accommodating to any guest request with alternative dairy options. Great place to stop to relax or grab a quick option to go.

Great consistent spot on the Island! That being said, there are a few dishes that are consistently delicious - the Reuben (the mushroom version is great, but the meat one is my favorite sandwich here) and any of the espresso drinks. The staff are personable, the Wi-Fi is good, and the noise level is pretty low. So grab your coffee beverage of choice, sit down, and work away. And if you're still there at lunchtime, get the Reuben. And take half of it home, because it's a big sandwich and you'll want that other half later.

Decided to make our first trip to Vashon Island on a Tuesday. Alot of the eateries are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. We were hungry and so we decided to try Cafe Luna. They were absolutely jammed with orders, but everyone was extremely nice. I had the turkey Panini and my partner had the grilled tuna. Both plates were absolutely wonderful as they came with a side of chips and a pickle. We just sat here and took our time eating and can't wait to come back! Thank you for making our first experience for eating on Vashon Island a good one!

The breakfast blueberry muffin was disappointing, but my adventure partner says the bacon-cheese frittata (large muffin size) was great. We returned for lunch because I wanted to try the mushroom Reuben - it was excellent (although the mushrooms were unexpectedly spicy). My partner had the pastrami Reuben and was not blown away, but enjoyed it.

Cute little spot. I ordered an iced matcha that was pretty watered down so that was disappointing. Service was ok.

Not the best quality drink I've had and very overpriced. I honestly hope things get better.

Now, I'd just had some bad things happen in my life and was looking for something that might bring me some joy, so I ordered the strip even though it was a little pricey, and I didn't know much about the place. My brother in Christ, let me tell you, that was the most gloriously delicious steak I've ever eaten. Cooked perfectly. Buttery. An almost crackling crust. Seasoned well but not overwhelming. My wife's noodles were also fantastic, but that steak was out of this world. She made me trade once she tasted it. We finished with a really nice, not too sweet chocolate mousse. They nailed all of it. I'm as shocked as anyone to tell you that this was the best restaurant meal I've ever had, and I don't like anything.

This place commits to sourcing almost everything they have locally and they make a lot of their own base ingredients including every sauce they serve. The Ruby Brink is particularly well suited as a good bar that still has restaurant class food, especially if you just go out with your adult friends and not necessarily your family of five. Different restaurants are tiered to different clientele and I especially appreciate that they serve their target audience: adults looking for a damn good meal, super well! Their menu is prepared every single day depending on what's available at the time. Don't be surprised if you see different dishes on it from just going there a week previous. In my opinion this keeps it fun although they still make sure to keep their classic favorites around. Definitely five out of five stars for me

What I was served was a plate of BURNED toast, a few blueberries and some sliced strawberries. There wasn't any whip cream, nothing special but can we go back to how it was burned. Like black. Not carmelized burned. (You can see how black it is in the pics. Do better. No one else was there) Our served came over gave us our bill so we could pay and never did ask how our meal was. Everyone we interacted with was genuinely kind and welcoming, especially Jennifer. * Casual and quaint retro diner vibe. Nothing fancy, but it's clean and comfortable. * Fries were really good, crispy and lightly battered. * Hand dipped corn dogs were tasty. * "Fun size" meals are a great option and come with a tiny ice cream cone, which is a nice touch. * Self serve drinks and condiments (I personally like being able to get things myself, and everything was clean and stocked.) * Two private restrooms (no stalls/single occupancy) + indoor and outdoor seating options What fell short: * The biggest downside is the price. I understand there's an "island premium," but the value just didn't match the steep cost. * Burger was okay, but the patty felt small for the price. * Onion rings were not good. They had thick, undercooked onion and chewy breading. * The chicken bites were extremely dry. They were edible, but I'd honestly take just about any other fast food nugget over these. That's especially disappointing because they looked like they started with decent quality white meat. My kid took one bite and pushed the rest away, which is a first for anything breaded and fried. Overall, the service was great and we enjoyed the family friendly setup, but the prices and inconsistent food quality make it hard to justify coming back regularly.

The dining area was bright, clean, and well maintained, and the staff did a good job keeping the restaurant tidy throughout our visit.Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to our expectations. I ordered the IQ Burger and added fries and a soda for a $7.50 upcharge, bringing the total to around $20 for a burger combo. At that price point, I expected a much better burger. Mine was significantly overcooked and dry. Thankfully, there was a large condiment bar, and I ended up using plenty of the sriracha aioli just to add some moisture and flavor. The fries were standard frozen fries and nothing special. For the price, I would have loved to see fresh-cut fries instead. Oddly enough, one of the highlights of the meal was the chewable nugget ice in the fountain drinks, which should never be a highlight of a meal. The kids' meals were also pricey. The cheeseburger combo was around $15, and the chicken strip combo was about $14.50 (note, if you only order the burger or chicken without fries it is $5....they charge $10 for the soda, fries and token for a small soft serve). The chicken strips were dry as well, making them a tough value proposition for a children's meal. I did appreciate that the portions were reasonable, but the overall quality didn't justify the cost. We were also not given the complimentary soft-serve tokens that are supposed to come with the kids' meals, which was disappointing and something the kids were looking forward to. Overall, Island Queen gets points for having a clean restaurant and friendly staff, but the food simply didn't meet the expectations set by the prices. The overcooked burger, dry chicken strips, and high cost make it hard for me to recommend as a burger destination. I would probably only stop by again for a soft-serve cone. I suspect there are better burger options elsewhere on the island.

They had a sign up the first day that advertised a rose honey latte special, and I love all of that, so I ordered it large and iced. It was amazing. I like my lattes with flavor, but I also want to be able to take the coffee and get a balance. If my coffee doesn't taste like coffee, it's too sweet. I could taste all the elements here and it's clear they use good, high-quality ingredients. They even topped it with rose petals! One day I strayed and ordered one of their specialty mochas, which I am generally hesitant to order because they're often way too sweet. I saw they use Holy Kakow syrup and know that's pretty good stuff. The mocha was really good, but also over $9 for a large before tip. That's my main complaint about this is that it's expensive. That being said, it's Vashon Island and most everything is super expensive. My large, iced latte is under $8 before tip and that feels more justifiable.
