But the Troy store being closer to home can be utilized for picking up special order items or making exchanges. This saves a second drive to the north country. I recently changed my mind on some slippers that I had purchased at the Lake George location and brought them the next day to the Troy location to see what was available for an exchange. Staff were very helpful in identifying what I was looking for and I was able to immediately replace one pair of slippers while a second pair were located in their Manchester, VT store. Troy staff called Manchester and had them ship my order to the Troy store. The following day I received a phone message that the slippers had arrived from Manchester and were available for pickup. You can't beat service like that.

Montano's has been around since 1906, wow that is long time! They provide professional fitting services, Pedorthic care, and specialized inventory targeted to foot health support. Montano's has a variety of high-quality work-boot brands including Red Wing, Chippewa, Thorogood, Danner, Irish Setter, and Timberland. They have a variety of athletic and hiking footwear brands such as Merrell, Keen, Hoka, On Running, and Salomon. There is a selection catered to casual and comfort as well; brands include Dansko, Birkenstock, Blundstone, UGG, and Vionic. Fair warning, it's not cheap to shop here. You are buying pretty much the best-of-the-best with a professional service. Some of these work boots are easily $200+ and the specialty insoles are running $65+ so keep that in mind when shopping. I was able to kill two birds with one stone by buying my stepdad his birthday present and my mom a new pair of shoes for Mother's Day. It wasn't cheap but they are worth it, plus I don't get to see them as much as I would like. The Red Wings he chose were $200, the specialty insoles cost $65 and Mom's shoes were $120. All the items are of high quality and should last them until my next visit, lol. Staff were very friendly and helpful. From the moment we walked in we were treated with respect and one of the associates accommodated both my family members with all of their fitting needs. I just purchased a new pair of Keens recently for work but I was really interested in trying out a pair of Thorogood's. The problem is if I tried them on, I probably would have bought them. I just don't need another pair now but the selection here seems like an excellent choice for a future work boot. I might be back next year once I ware my Keens out. They carry brands of good-for-your-feet shoes that you can't get anywhere else. Their staff is extremely knowledgeable about what shoes work best for what activities, what shoes will fit what type of feet best and what each of the shoes they carry is made of, etc. They'll even tell you where they're manufactured. They will work with you for however long it takes to find you the right pair of shoes and then tell you how to properly care for them. They also guarantee their shoes (I think it is a one year guarantee). Who does THAT anymore? I've spent so much time and money shopping in shoe stores where no one helps you and you take a stab in the dark as to which shoes are going to work best for you. Pegasus saves you from that. While their shoes may seem pricey to some, they're never a bad value.

Quality clothing is worth the price in terms of fit and longevity. The sales staff are very friendly and helpful and well informed about their products. What is especially nice is when they offer sales. My wife picked up a beautiful brand name coat for a substantial discount over the price on the tag. Of course the tag price is just something someone made up and not based in reality- however- it was nice to be able to pick up such a beautiful item at a very reasonable price.
