I have been a loyal customer for decades and never had a problem. Today, however, I brought in…read morewinter boots I bought three months ago because they were damp inside. The young woman who came over was clearly poorly trained in customer service or else failed to gain the most basic customer service skills because she immediately suggested it was my fault for not waterproofing the boots. I showed her the tag on the boots which says "Waterproof." Then she said it was probably my sweaty feet. She did not examine the soles or seams because she didn't want to touch my "dirty boot." When I asked to see the manager and followed her to the office, she shooed me away, presumably because she didn't want me to hear what she was going to say. The manager offered store credit and I would have had to give my boots to her then and there. Leaving me to go home in my socks? I told her that I was a loyal customer for many years and had bought footwear from them when I could have got it cheaper online, but I like to support local businesses. I told her that she had lost a customer. Next time I'll try shoes on for fit and then order online for a better price and hassle-free returns/refunds. Some local businesses do not earn loyal customer support.

I asked the salesgirl if the other shoe was the one on display on the top of the rack. She couldn't answer, checked the shoe on top aimlessly, and continued to not be able to give me an answer. I found the second - and only other - pair of these shoes and tried them on to my satisfaction. I decided if I didn't find anything I liked better elsewhere, I'd buy these. So, I asked my mom where can I get him Red Wings or Thorogood's around here and she said we need to go to Montano's in Saugerties, so off we went. Montano's has been around since 1906, wow that is long time! They provide professional fitting services, Pedorthic care, and specialized inventory targeted to foot health support. Montano's has a variety of high-quality work-boot brands including Red Wing, Chippewa, Thorogood, Danner, Irish Setter, and Timberland. They have a variety of athletic and hiking footwear brands such as Merrell, Keen, Hoka, On Running, and Salomon. There is a selection catered to casual and comfort as well; brands include Dansko, Birkenstock, Blundstone, UGG, and Vionic. Fair warning, it's not cheap to shop here. You are buying pretty much the best-of-the-best with a professional service. Some of these work boots are easily $200+ and the specialty insoles are running $65+ so keep that in mind when shopping. I was able to kill two birds with one stone by buying my stepdad his birthday present and my mom a new pair of shoes for Mother's Day. It wasn't cheap but they are worth it, plus I don't get to see them as much as I would like. The Red Wings he chose were $200, the specialty insoles cost $65 and Mom's shoes were $120. All the items are of high quality and should last them until my next visit, lol. Staff were very friendly and helpful. From the moment we walked in we were treated with respect and one of the associates accommodated both my family members with all of their fitting needs. I just purchased a new pair of Keens recently for work but I was really interested in trying out a pair of Thorogood's. The problem is if I tried them on, I probably would have bought them. I just don't need another pair now but the selection here seems like an excellent choice for a future work boot. I might be back next year once I ware my Keens out. They carry brands of good-for-your-feet shoes that you can't get anywhere else. Their staff is extremely knowledgeable about what shoes work best for what activities, what shoes will fit what type of feet best and what each of the shoes they carry is made of, etc. They'll even tell you where they're manufactured. They will work with you for however long it takes to find you the right pair of shoes and then tell you how to properly care for them. They also guarantee their shoes (I think it is a one year guarantee). Who does THAT anymore? I've spent so much time and money shopping in shoe stores where no one helps you and you take a stab in the dark as to which shoes are going to work best for you. Pegasus saves you from that. While their shoes may seem pricey to some, they're never a bad value.

I was immediately assisted by Joel, a very patient knowledgeable resource. He listened to me talk about the many ups and downs in my relationship with running; he even looked at my old running shoes while assessing me. He did thorough measurements and studied my gait; he than retreated to the store room and made a selection of the shoes he thought would be the best for me and my issues. I would recommend this store to anyone in the Berkshire area; it is above and beyond the best place to get a shoe. The Berkshire running center is truly a personalized experience UPDATE (9/2/2020) A few weeks after wearing my new running shoes the sole began falling apart, I contacted Berkshire running center and they allowed me to exchange those shoes for a completely different pair that would more satisfy my needs!
