My family and I decided to try Guitars and Growlers. We parked in the parking lot, walked in, and checked out the space. It's a cool restaurant that has a lot of seating, and cool decor with Guitars displayed on the wall and a small stage for performers. We walked up to where you order. It was counter service and the guy that took our order was laid back. We paid, he gave us a number and then we chose a place to sit and waited for our food. We ordered several items to share. We started off with a charcuterie board that had meats, cheeses, nuts, fruit, and toasted bread. It was really good. The bread was able to hold the ingredients and was nice and crispy but not overly crispy. The meats were good and the different cheeses were flavorful with different textures. The fruit was fresh and the nuts were a nice crunchy addition. Very yummy start. We also shared the Tejas Nachos with Brisket. The Nachos come with tortilla chips covered in cheese, queso, jalapenos, tomatoes, and crema. They were okay. The Brisket was plentiful. There was a lot of cheese and queso spread out all over the nachos. It was a little too much. The chips got soggier the closer you got to the bottom of the pile. Our last shared item was the ZZ Top BBQ Flatbread. It was okay. It came with an overabundance of cheese. It also came with jalapenos, BBQ sauce, and we ordered it with Chicken. It was okay. The cheese was gooey but overwhelming. The jalapenos added a spicy flavor and the BBQ sauce was tasty. Overall the restaurant has a cool atmosphere with good service. The counter service, ordering and paying process was quick and easy. Everytime someone brought our food to us they were friendly. The food was okay and literally very cheesy. read more

Let me start out by saying, my husband and I have been coming to this location for over 4 years. We love trying new beers/ciders and the chill vibe. The food here is wonderful and most recently we tried their "spread". We got the large one and was a little disappointed in the amount of mustard, jalapeño jelly, and meets/cheeses in comparison to the mass amount of bread. Almost felt like a bread tray with a few extra things thrown on. We've gotten the pizza and nachos before which were all delicious and perfectly portioned out. My second complaint was the service. The bartender seemed genuinely annoyed that we were ordering, then even more annoyed when we sat at the bar. We had to flag him down after several minutes each time our glasses were empty, and...... we said thank you each time and were ignored. It may be silly but even one acknowledgement of our thanks would have gone a long way. We love this place, we truly do.. but the service we received most recently definitely made us think twice about returning soon. read more

Stopped by Guitars & Growlers this past Tuesday with a group of friends to participate in weekly trivia! We had a great time chowing down on the food and enjoying the vibes. The thanksgiving sandwich I got was on the blander side but I really enjoyed the jalapeño soup and the cold cut Italian sub that my husband ordered. Also liked the cider I got as a drink. So as you know Dallas had yet their annual February freeze. On Thursday when we were clear to safely travel we headed over for a beer and lunch combo. For an appetizer, we ordered the pretzel and beer cheese for $7.99 and it was awesome. The bread was warm and soft and the creamy beer cheese was such a great dipping added on. These pretzels are salted however the salt is easy to take off if you are not happy with that kind of pretzel. I ordered the cup of creamy jalapeño soup for $3.99 and oh man I would have gotten the bowl if I wasn't already sipping on a beer and had some bread to keep me full. The creaminess is there so it's filling. The crackers seem to be coated in olive oil and have some added flavor with spices which were better than if they had just given a plain Saltine cracker. The entree of choice was a lunch combo $9.00 Tripping Turkey & Cheese: turkey, bacon, pepper jack, spring mix pesto/ sourdough, and for the side the cup of cowboy beer chili. For the sandwich, the nice touch was the pesto sauce. My favorite chili is from Wendy's there version was Spicer and had more flavor, it also contains beans!! Someone had recommended we try this place out, and we're glad we did. The atmosphere is on the small, cozy side and it is a bit eclectic. They offer counter service for both food no beverages. The bartender/server was great at helping us navigate things and finalize what we ordered. The place had several smaller groups of people. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and this wasn't a night where they had live music. We started with the small charcuterie board. We enjoyed all of the meats, cheeses and other items on the spread. My husband went with the G&G TX Fav sub that features a variety of meats and toppings. My husband had no problems finishing it all. I went with the Cuban and it was tasty as well. We look forward to our next visit to enjoy the environment when they have live music to enjoy as well. read more

Visited this bar today with a friend to check out their Tuesday Trivia Night! They had a 4th of July theme with it being the week of the holiday, and it was lots of fun. Heads up: They have wine and beers but no liquors, so no cocktails. All food and drink orders are made at the bar, and food is bussed to you. Some of our go-to items include Cash's Chicken Pesto Flatbread Pizza and Johnny Winter Flatbread Pizza. I personally try to grab some of the ciders; they also have a selection of wine and non-alcoholic drinks for those not interested in beer. They do not serve any liquor or cocktails. We have also enjoyed the charcuterie boards in the past as well as the nachos. Our group has always had great service from the employees and are welcomed when we enter. If you're arriving here for Trivia Night, I suggest you come here about 30 minutes prior to it starting to make sure you get a good table. There have been times when we've ordered food during Trivia Night and expected service to be delayed, but the food still comes out relatively quickly and it tastes great. read more

This place has a good vibe. The music is good, the beers are tasty, and the bar staff is friendly. Their beers, like many I have, have creative names that indicate a flavor profile and yet there isn't any of that flavor present in their final product. For example, then Pecan Stout was a good stout, but no sweetness like a pecan present. To be fair, my friend said that the cider did taste like pineapple so stick to ciders if you want it to taste like something other than the base beer varietal. They also have a "chit wall" where you can buy beers for others in the future. You can pick someone specifically (e.g. Petey) or an entire demographic (e.g. first responders). Very cool. read more

Though they were light on stouts (my go-to) this day Josh recommended some canned from False Idol Brewing. Got the Warhol--Imperial Stout with marshmallow and banana. Wife got a malbec. For food I had the Freddie King Falafel and wife had the charcuterie. Falafel was good; hummus really good. Charcuterie board came w/a blue, cheddar, brie and provolone. They let her specify variations on her order. The Warhol was wonderful; sweet, banana-ey, not hoppy, well balanced. At end of our time there Logan the cashier introduced herself and I s/w Josh a bit. 12/21/21: Just had lunch with a neighbor. Amy took care of us and she was great. The decor is nice and the restaurant is very clean. You order at the bar and then choose your table. There were about 25 beers on tap, mostly locals. It's neat because there's a board that indicated where the beer was made and it's characteristics. I had the meat lovers sandwich and he had the pesto grilled chicken sandwich. Both plates came with chips. The sandwiches were pretty good and the bread was soft and fresh. There is plenty of seating inside, and plenty of parking, as it's located in a strip mall. read more

We had a great time visiting the Richardson location of Guitar and Growlers. It's a good space. There's a plethora of beer options. You can choose if you want a flight or full pours. I decided on a flight to try some different styles. I wasn't all that jazzed about the Turning Point Glacier Frost beer but my Mom really liked it. You don't understand what joy that gave me being a beer drinker. She would sample but never a win. She liked that Sour so much I bought her another one! She basically DJ Khalid me After a couple of beers we needed something to soak it up. We were far away from home. So demolish popcorn with truffle oil. Couldn't believe the value! This craft beer neighborhood bar and grill reminded me of my days in the bar band scene. We were there for a Wednesday night singer/ songwriter night that featured some surprisingly good artists, the food was typical bar fair, flat bread pizzas and wings but were all good offerings. The ZZ Topp themed pizza was a table favorite. They offer craft beer and wine flights. I only tried one of the IPAs but enjoyed it. You order at the bar and food is delivered to your table but you are going to have to make it back to the bar for further drinks or food orders. Waitressing isn't the strong point here but that's the only real miss. Pricing is more than fair; ten of us had ample food and drinks for two and a half hours and it tabbed out at $325 with the added 28% tip. Finding a bar that is both unique, cool and original is difficult especially in the "burbs" but Guitars & Growlers is definitely an exception.   Came here for a friend's birthday brunch this past sunday and found that I really like the vibe! It's similar to what you'd find in Uptown/Lower Greenville but this establishment has way more soul and without the attitude. The bar offers live music along with an actual stage, guitars and a large selection of craft beers. Being that I arrived early, had the rare opportunity to meet one of the owners who explained his love for live music, craft beers and carving his own guitars which led to the creation of this bar. It was his and his team's passion to share this idea to the local community. As I glanced around, the walls adorned with beautiful guitars on display are emblematic of what he spoke about. Once the party arrived and although it was a large one, the staff did a great job accommodating separate tickets and the delivery of food and drinks. I was able to start a personal tab and place my order right at the bar which was convenient. Thankfully, they offered popular brunch drinks including mimosas and the famous "Dallas Blonde" beer. When it came to food, the Meat & Cheese board on the menu caught my attention. All my favorites were included such as baked brie, kalamata olives, pepper jelly and selected meats. The Toast which accompanied the board was perfectly toasted with butter stood up to the flavors of the cheeses and meats which is how a true charcuterie board should be!   As the guest and I enjoyed our lunch, we were treated to live singers who sang a little bit of pop then gravitated to country. The acoustics in the bar were perfectly suited for that. The live music really add that special mood and made the experience wonderful. Really nice touch! Overall assessment: wonderful neighborhood bar that offers great live music, eclectic food choices and an awesome beer selection. I came to Guitars & Growlers this past week for trivia and I had a great time. It is a very casual atmosphere that is clearly frequented by locals. The atmosphere actually reminds me a lot of my old favorite local bar out of state... it's a very casual and intimate atmosphere. I personally was not a fan of their food or drinks, which I was not terribly surprised about since my friends warned me their food wasn't very good as soon as I got there. I got the apricot cider, which I did not like at all, and I've never met a cider I didn't like! From the very first sip, it had the oddest taste. I barely finished it because I wasn't a fan and this discouraged me from trying any of their other selections. I also ordered the pretzels and beer cheese, which were just meh. The pretzels were somewhat stiff instead of soft and buttery like I like. The cheese, though great in quantity, was not the best quality... it was so salty! The pretzels had a lot of large salt on them as well, which I picked off to make the dish palatable. I would not order the pretzels and cheese dip again. They do host trivia on Tuesday nights, which I really enjoyed. But being so far from my home and not liking the food or drinks, especially after paying $15 for all of it... this is a place I would only come back if my friends insisted, not one I would go out of my way for again. read more
