Went here with friends for breakfast and it's a perfect country diner. Pancakes were delicious and instead of the meat I asked for fruit which was fresh and tasty. But, the #1 food item they have....fried pies. All kinds of fruit flavors like peach, apricot, apple as well as coconut and cheese cake. In fact, they were so good we came back the following day and picked up a half dozen varieties to take home for family to try. Stopped by this restaurant for breakfast for some local flavor. We were seated quickly even though the parking lot was packed. Annette, our server, was cheerful and expedient. We order the farmer's skillet and the cinnamon swirl trench toast combo. Food was served quickly and were far better than I was expecting. I ordered eggs over easy and they were perfect! I also ordered a Belgian Waffle and it was bar none, the best waffle I've had coast to coast! Light fluffy and tasted like a waffle cone on steroids. Came down for the weekend and visited both days in a row again. Service and food is always great and consistent. Great coffee and I got the fried pies to go because I was so full. Ordered a chopped steak with brown gravy to go. Drove 15 minutes there and back. No gravy. When I called they offered to give me gravy if I drove back. I explained to them multiple times that my food will be cold but they refused to replace the order despite their mistake. I practically begged them and they told me no to just deal with it. On an impromptu road trip to Choctaw, Mead Family Restaurant was highly recommended by the hotel clerk, the cashier at the liquor store and the guy at the dispensary so we decided to give it a try and WOW!! The food was delicious and the waitress was so incredibly friendly! We had the chicken and rice soup (so good we got another bowl to go), the chicken fettuccine Alfredo was so creamy and full of flavor and my boyfriend said the patty melt was the best he's ever had. Very generous portions and really reasonable prices. We will definitely be back every time we go to Choctaw. read more

Showed up at the restaurant with 1 party of 2 ahead of us. We were a party of 6. At the time the restaurant had four 4-tops empty but in need of cleaning, and 2 additional 4-tops next to each other that were empty and could be put together. There was nobody waiting to be sat after us and the busser was actively cleaning the empty tables. We were told we had to wait until a 6 top was available (of which there were 3) because smaller parties need to be sat. They finally started to shift the two tables together after we stood there for at least 10 more minutes with nobody coming in and more people leaving, leaving plenty of tables open, except the 6 tops. Then, they made us move tables after one of the 6 tops finally left. We hadn't been given silverware, nobody asked for our drink order, nobody even addressed us as they went over and laid the menus at the first table, so we weren't even sure we were supposed to sit in the first place until the looked back at us. Another 10 minutes later we finally flag down one of the three girls at the register rolling silverware, only to be told all of the waitresses are "super busy" and it would be a little longer before we can get even drinks. Our section had one other table sat, and they were finishing their meal and preparing to leave. There were other empty tables in the restaurant and two groups sat after us had drinks and food orders in. At no point did anyone seem interested in actual customer service. I kept my tone neutral until the very end, when we were told there was a wait of unknown length to even get a drink after already waiting 10 minutes to even be acknowledged by our server. I can grab a glass and fill a cup, so surely anybody employed by the restaurant can do so. And with the number of staff who were standing chatting, I'm willing to bet there was 5 minutes someone could direct to water and coffee for the table. These are the basics of customer service. If you can't get that right it wouldn't matter if God himself blessed your cooking. In fact, given how little you obviously value customers we decided to take our business elsewhere, where getting a glass of water doesn't require a letter to Congress. Do better. read more

Small town, typical diner type place. It was a decent stop on a road trip, but I probably wouldn't make a special trip. We had a bacon avocado cheeseburger and chicken tenders. Fantastic! We have only lived in the area about a year and we've been looking for our "go to" breakfast spot. I think this is it... First of all when you walk in there's such a warm feeling as the people working there are all smiling and very welcoming! Needless to say service was excellent and extremely friendly! The food was sooo good and you can tell it's all fresh and homemade. (Not like freezer pancakes... if they are don't tell me because they taste homemade) lol lol Also the coffee was really good and fresh I know this isn't a big deal to some but to me it is! I can't wait to return here and check out some more of what they have. We'll have to check out the lunch or dinner and report back ! For now we highly recommend this spot and will absolutely be back ! Tip: the breakfast sausage is so so so good ! :) read more

The food was great! My wife had the waffle, 2 eggs over easy with 4 strips of crisp bacon. The waffle was light & crisp, eggs were perfect with nice yolks. I had the "Okie 3-egg omelette" with crisp hash browns - just the way I like. The service was friendly & fast. Ambience was warm,well lit - the diner is very popular in the neighborhood. The food was poor quality,ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken lunch special, the lettuce in the salad was brown, ask the waitress for a new salad, acted like it put her out to get us a new salad, then the mashed potatoes were dry and not eatable, my pinto beans were cold .There are too many choices around to eat here. Told the waitress who cashed us out, acted like poor food quality was not a big deal. Ambiance was ok. Definitely a 1 out of 10. WILL definitely NOT return! read more
