Seeing it across states is heartwarming, and knowing that everyone else gets to have the delicious flavors that they have brought to my family for years is exciting! On this day, I tried the seasonal raspberry cheesecake just scoop. The shop was empty, except for me coming in and giving it a try, and I was able to sample as many options as I wanted to, with the employees happily allowing it. What differs from the original shops up north versus the one here is the amount of seating inside there were plenty of tables to enjoy with your whole family, friends, or alone like me! I opted for something new and boy am I glad I did. The sweetness of the raspberries and the chunks of cake made this such a fun treat and really encapsulated the season. There's a lovely mural tribute to the location across the wall that I took a picture of to share with my family as well. I can't wait to come back and try more flavors whenever I'm needing a piece of home in my heart.

He shared that there are only two locations in Atlanta, which honestly made me even happier to support them. They had so many classic flavors to choose from, but I went with my favorite.... The decor here is absolutely lovely, and the entire space is pristine clean and gorgeous. I really want to see this local gem thrive, which is why I plan to revisit at a better time. I made the mistake of arriving about 20 minutes before closing, and unfortunately, the overall customer service energy felt a bit rushed and unwelcoming. While I was told there was "no rush," the underlying vibe and rigid communication made it clear the staff was checked out and ready to close up for the night. As an indecisive thinker who likes to ask questions, the experience felt a little stressful. They had a couple of non-dairy choices, but since those didn't catch my eye, I wanted to pivot to a smaller dairy portion (like a pup cup size) to accommodate my preferences. Navigating that request felt a bit difficult and restrictive rather than helpful or flexible. I ended up with the Strawberry Cheesecake, which was great! I truly think I just caught them at an off-time. I genuinely hope they do well, and maybe I'll return much earlier in the day next time for the full, warm experience!

However, before you think "oh wow $13 per ice cream?" Keep in mind, it is ATL. I personally think this is worth every penny. The hard shell is huge (trust) and the flavor is superb.

I watched three customers ahead of me ask questions and receive normal, courteous answers. When it was my turn, the tone changed. It wasn't one exchange. It was the repeated dismissiveness, the condescension, even making an issue out of something as simple as asking for a "regular cone." The contrast was impossible not to notice. She knew nothing about me. My profession, my background, my life. None of it should matter. In that moment, I was simply another human being standing at the counter who deserved the same basic courtesy I had just watched others receive. As a person of color, I cannot tell you what was in her mind, but I can tell you how it felt to watch others treated one way and then experience something very different myself. The place is called Big Softie. Unfortunately, tonight it was a big failure in something much more important than ice cream: treating people with basic dignity.

While my dietary restrictions didn't allow me to partake, the girls and bestie enjoyed their treats. They just had ice cream and cones. We agreed that we'd have to come back a different time to try the donut/ice cream sandwich! There is a parking garage next to this storefront that is partially public parking and partially residential. The public parking is three dollars for 30 minutes. You have to pay it on your cell phone, and they charge a $1.20 service fee. So 30 minutes of parking is actually $4.20. This was just enough time for us to go inside order sit to eat and get back to the car with five minutes to spare. Luckily, we went in during a slow period, because we were able to order right away. Also, there is only bar top seating with four barstools, so it was the perfect amount of seats for those in my group who were eating. Most people who came behind us did a grab and go.

When I walked up, all of the chairs were up so it looked closed, but I peaked in, and they confirmed they were still open. I was greeted with a smile and asked to taste the vegan flavors which were lemon, mango, and berry açai. I'm happy they had multiple vegan options and we're willing to let me try them. I ended up going with the Bory since it was made with oat milk and had oats and berries in it. The lemon and mango were more like sorbets. I gave it a four stars because it was a little bit more expensive than anticipated and they charged a dollar extra for the vegan options. Not sure why vegan options are more expensive, especially if they are similar in size as the non-vegan options.

However, the shop wasn't the only thing they brought down south, they definitely came with New York prices too lol. Pricing: While they have a variety of really unique flavors, the pricing is slightly higher than what you'd expect at a comparable ice cream spot. Plan to spend around $8-$10+ depending on your scoop count (1, 2, or 3 scoops), plus $1.25-$2 per topping. Also note: they're cashless and only accept contactless payments. Food: There were so many flavors that I honestly struggled to choose. I ended up with Mango Sticky Rice and Honeycomb. Both were good and creamy, but a little too sweet together. I sampled the Passionfruit Sorbet too, which was super tart, but in the best way. I actually wish I wouldn't went with that one, and think it would've balanced out the mango perfectly. Inside: The shop is super cute, bright, fun, and inviting with a retro-modern feel. There's a row of bar seating and one group table inside. Heads up to all my 30+ folks: the bar stools have zero back support, so don't get too comfortable lol. Outside seating is available as well, and since it's located in Ponce City Market, you can also take your ice cream to their indoor seating areas. Service: Service was great. The staff was friendly, encouraged us to try any flavors we wanted, and gave thoughtful suggestions/opinions on several of the flavors we were interested in.
