This location offers the same early-American charm in its flavors, decor, and staff uniforms that makes it stand out from all of the other ice cream chains in the valley. On top of that, the ice cream is superb -- there are over two dozen flavors, all named after patriotic people/themed, in chocolaty, vanilla-y, caramel-y, fruity, and all sorts of other base flavors. It is the kind of comeback story that makes you want to order a second scoop just to show support. Walking into this location feels like that comeback is in good hands. The walls tell the Snelgrove story with a nostalgic touch that gives the space personality, and the merch selection, small but creative, is worth a look on your way out. The menu covers scoops, milkshakes and malts, sundaes, dirty sodas, cookies, and gummies. The flavor list is small rather than overwhelming, and if you are on the fence they will let you sample before you commit. The signature flavors are the ones to know: Canadian Vanilla, Burnt Almond Fudge, and Bear Lake Raspberry are original Snelgrove recipes. I went with the caramel salted cashew, and added waffle chips. Creamy, rich, and exactly what a premium scoop should taste like. Bear Lake Raspberry is already on my list for the next visit. It is an Utah legend that was purchased by Dreyer's who did nothing with it. The brand fell by the wayside. The original two locations in SLC were designated historic landmarks. The granddaughter bought the rights when it became available again. She uses grandpa's recipes. So glad she is doing well to open up yet a fourth or fifth (?) location! They were totally prepared for the crowds for this 2 scoops for $2 grand opening special! Pop up tents outside for the line to funnel through. When my wife and I went last night, there were about 50 in line. But due to their efficiency, the line went pretty fast. They had two working outside to take orders, which were circled on pre-printed papers with the flavors. They had laminated menus passed out to everyone. The order slip was then given back to you. Once in, there were around 8 employees working behind the counter scooping, cashing out, supplying. You got to the beginning of the freezer case, they took your paper, wrote your name down, passed it down the line to someone who would scoop. Then they called your name and gave you your ice cream. Bam! done in less than 5 minutes. All the while all the employees are happy, being cheerful, enjoying what they are doing. The place is clean, brightly lit, has a seating area with four tables and a long bench with chairs. All fun colors. Very nice store.
