It has now top my favorite soft ice cream spot from California. This one has fun flavors compared to the other spots. I got the salted vanilla bean and that was great. Had nice specs of vanilla bean and you know when there's specs it's gonna be dank. Nice sense of salt on the side. They also let you do samples if you would like I tried the blueberry milk and that was kind of like a tangy blueberry so I didn't like that. The carrot cake was not too, Katie but more of like a super pumpkin spice type, I was disappointed in. They can also give you magic dip shells, which is awesome. Good serving for normal size. They need to pay the lady double because she was working in the shop by herself on a Saturday afternoon taking orders and slinging ice cream. Ice cream so good i went back for round two. Excellent service with friendly staff. There was a pretty long line and they got people moved through shockingly quickly. I got a create your own with salted vanilla bean soft serve topped with fruity pebbles, normal sprinks, and chocolate sprinks. They appear to make their own sprinks out of different versions of chocolate and they are delicious! They and the fruity pebbles gave an amazing crunch to my selection. My one criticism is that the cup was filled with ice cream with only a little bit of topping on top, but I went back to ask if I could get more topping and they quickly did so at no additional cost noting that there hadn't been much chopping to begin with. I've been to Normal so many times, so I can confidently say it's EXCELLENT. They have 5-6 monthly flavors, so you'll want to go there once a month I promise you. You can get one of their composed cones (or cups) or create your own with all the different toppings they offer (which are mostly made in house). I love that the menu regularly changes and has vegan options, and there are also prepared options ready to go (I got a "choco razz crunch" bar for another day). Most ice cream places serve hard ice cream, so Normal is a fun alternative with 6 rotating soft serve flavors that you can get alone or twist. So many creative flavors from thai tea, lucky charms milk (literally made from milk soaked in lucky charms), peach, to a good salted vanilla bean. Then you get to choose from even more creative dips and/or toppings! I LOVE dipped cones, the almond is my favorite and goes with a lot of flavors. They always have at least one gluten-free flavor and plenty of gluten-free toppings, but celiacs do need to avoid getting it dipped for cross-contamination. There is some seating inside and outside. I've been eyeing Normal Ice Cream for a while now and we decided to try their 900 S location after dinner one night. The place was packed with people waiting for ice cream and eating their ice cream. The line to order wasn't long at all, so we ordered an or-re-oh half size cone and a prickly pear half size cone. We didn't wait long for our order to be ready. The cones were made beautifully and were really big for a half size. Our consensus was that the cones were just okay. My husband wasn't a fan of the prickly pear flavored sherbet and wished he had gone with the baklava cone or (if it wasn't sold out) the pistachio flavored ice cream. Based on the high ratings and the fact that the place was packed when I went today clearly means this is going to be an unpopular opinion. So, to put it plainly, this ice cream just isn't very good in my opinion. The ordering process is quite simple, you choose a flavor, how you want it (ie cone or cup), choose an optional dip, and then choose from a list of 15 or so toppings (all of which cost .50 a piece). Among the list of toppings, many of them are quite experimental and un appetizing such as: "drizzle olive oil", olive oil cake, and sweet corn cake. As far as the flavors go, there are only 5 and the most "normal" flavors they have are chocolate and vanilla. There are then 3 dip choices. I got the chocolate milk flavor with almond dip and fruit pebbles on top. I love soft serve ice cream, but this ice cream just doesn't do it for me. The consistency is smooth, but it's the most buttery tasting ice cream I've ever had, and to "top it off" the chocolate milk flavor was almost bitter which didn't make for a great combo. It's also just very plain. Yes you can get toppings, but I wish there was something within the ice cream to break up the flavor a bit. I did however enjoy the almond dip, it's quite sweet and did offset the bitterness and butteriness of the ice cream a bit. I do think they would greatly benefit from having some "lighter" dip options to go with chocolate ice like a strawberry or something. I did like that they have some water that's out and available for free, and the inside of the store is very cute with their decorations and clean Overall, while of course didn't try more than what I ate, I'm not motivated after this first experience to come back and try more read more

I usually love the combinations at Normal +9/10 times. Sometimes they're a little funky or not for me, but that's the point. If you wanted the basic vanilla/chocolate every time, you might not come here (though their basics are delicious). You should really trust the pre-determined menu items!! I have never seen such a complex, simple menu before. Yes, you read that right. They have have ice cream, and a few different ways to get the ice cream, but man, their choices are out of this world! They have lavender (yucky bathtub flavor), honey, brownie batter, lemon, salted vanilla bean, and so much more. You can opt for a cup or a cone and top it with some unique things. They also offer other ice cream choices like ice cream sandwiches, "chocos", ice cream cakes, and ice cream pints. They also have some merch on display and it all has cute designs! There was quite a few people working and they were great at tackling the line and getting everyone's orders out. I don't feel like my order took too long to get and it was exactly what I wanted. Normal has my heart! First time reviewer of this location, long time fan. It's my go-to spot for a pick me up, which is what landed me here on Saturday after a long day. I also love to get their composed cones, which are creatively done sundaes that feature their fun flavored soft serves with interesting toppings. They are so fun and yummy. Their menu also features drinks like affogatos, coffee concoctions, and more. The people who work here are nice but so busy. Sometimes, during the rushes, I feel so bad for them, but they keep such a good attitude about things.
