Okay, so I HAD to go here when I visited Williamburg just based on the reviews. So somone had mentioned they had "shaved ice." So I got my hopes up. I ended up disappointed. I had some WONDERFUL shaved ice when I was in Hawaii several summers before and have been on the hunt for the goodness ever since. At Sno-togo the ice was more of a consistancy of a slushie or a snow cone. We tried two flavors the Flamingo and the Bahama Mama "stuffed" with ice cream. It twas good, but just not great. Best place to go on a hot summer day. They have so many flavors, and I'm pretty sure I spent 10 minutes debating between 10 different flavors (just look at that menu). On top of that, you can go plain, stuffed, OR ULTIMATE STUFFED. You have to at least go stuffed because it has this creamy custardy soft serve that makes my top 5 list. If you go ultimate, be prepared to have your insulin checked because they add condensed milk as well. I loved the flavors, but I would recommend the lesser of out there combinations so you can taste and discern the flavors. Only problem is that there's limited timings, but it's always easy to kill time by walking around the Yankee candle store across the street and then going later. TL;DR - 3.5 stars for a well made sno, but service is quite slow. Sno-To-Go has a fun concept, which kind of reminds me of the Gelati from Rita's, but with an extra layer of sno and the sno is coloring versus water ice (or Italian ice). The layering goes custard-sno-custard-sno. This is actually a better idea because by the time you get to the second layer of ice cream, which is vanilla only, it has already started to merge with the sno all the way on the bottom and makes for a pretty great combination. You are allowed to get multiple flavors, and the spongebob and dreamsicle are money. The only issue we have is that the service is a little slow. There was a couple parties ahead of us but we waited almost 15 minutes for our order. They messed up one person's order before us (but ordered after us) as well as ours as well. We weren't in a rush, so that was okay, but there was a big line after us, so when that happens, just have a little patience. read more

We walked up to this little stand on an oddly hot day and were overwhelmed with the choices of flavors! Finally decided what to order and went with stuffed options. We Had no clue how these were going to be. THEY WERE GREAT!! The vanilla soft serve layered with shaved ice just works. Be ready for some crowds because it is such a legend, but luckily after 5pm they have parking next door at the Smokey Griddle Pancake house. There are picnic tables for sitting at, but not a ton so be warned. As for flavored, well they have everything. Meh. Everything is tasty. It's fresh, typical soft serve. Very good but nothing extraordinary. The meh part is that the portions are ridiculously huge and overflowing so it makes a giant mess We specifically asked for a cone "smaller than that one" pointing to the one they were serving ahead of us. The guy didn't know what size it was, what we got ended up being atleast as big. Asked for cake cone, got a waffle cone. The only way to get napkins is to go back and ask at the window and wait. I'm not one to knock Rita's, because I sure love a Gelati on a warm afternoon, but Rita's wasn't the first to come up with this ingenious idea. It was Sno-to-Go. (Disclaimer: StG did not actually invent this idea.) And Sno-to-Go has the edge over Rita's, because the flavor selection is IMMENSE, and it's a small, local, legendary establishment you won't find anywhere else. Sno-to-Go opened its doors my freshman year at W&M. Every year after we would mark our calendars off until that glorious April day when Sno-to-Go opened its shuttered windows and began dispensing its icy treats. Now a visit when we're back in the 'Burg is a sweet taste of nostalgia. I recommend the Stuffed Snoballs with soft serve ice cream layered in between the fluffy, soft shave ice. I'm particular to the Dreamsicle -- what pairs better with vanilla and orange than vanilla soft serve I ask you? Also the Tiger's Blood (berries and coconut) is a great foil to the vanilla soft serve. It gets really crowded on warm evenings, but it's worth the wait in line. read more

This place is a god send in the summer time..let me tell you. It kinda reminds me of Rita's being that you can get shaved ice and soft serve ice cream. Not really my style but hey, it's neat. I ordered the mango icee in a medium and it was soo much.. I couldn't finish it. It was really good. My boyfriend got the strawberry cheesecake icee with the ice cream stuff all swirled in and it was really good. I gave it a try but I don't think I can get over the fact that there's ice cream in my icee (blehhh). It took about ten minutes to actually get my dessert. What a treat!! Like nothing I've ever had before! If you are in Williamsburg for vacation during the summer, this is a "must eat treat"!! I only found it a couple of days ago but have been there twice since then. They have shaved ice---which the sound of it didn't thrill me but my daughter twisted my arm to try it and it's excellent. They have probably 30 or more flavors to choose from and I think it's fairly reasonably priced (cheaper than my favorite Coldstone Creamery). They have milkshakes and soft served ice cream as well but it would be a mistake to not try the "stuffed snow cone" The stuffed snow cone has layered flavored ice with soft serve vanilla ice cream in the middle. It makes it very creamy and just over all yummy! Unfortunately I believe this gem is only seasonal so if you come in the winter, you'll probably miss it. It's not the easiest to find. It's right across the street from Yankee Candle and right next to Hot Dog King (I think that was the name). Parking is kind of tough---small parking lot so don't bother pulling in with a big camper---probably park next door at Hot Dog King or across at Yankee Candle. read more

You know what you can expect from Haagan Dazs, Baskin Robbins, Ben and Jerry's, and Dairy Queen so stop here for a cold treat that's quirky unique to Willamsburg. Displayed on a white board above the service window, the names of their many flavors compete with OPI's nail polishes for creativity. You have the choice of regular or stuffed and in sizes Small, Medium, and Large Styrofoam cups. Like ice cream places, the staff will give you tastes if you have a hard time deciding. You order at one window and pick up at the next. Part of the fun of eating your Sno-to-Go at one of the picnic tables under a tree is fighting off the bees. You can also try dripping some of your Sno-to-Go away from you as an offering to the bees to leave you alone. Sorry, college freshman, it'd be a long walk from campus. The tiny parking lot is gravel but the service is quick so you might not have to wait too long for a space to open up when the lot's full. read more

I hate to admit it but I was in denial after my most recent trip to Sno-To-Go. When I was a student here, this was the place to go to after a long day of classes. The parking lot would be packed with other students waiting to get a cup full of happiness. Years after I graduated I returned to the Burg to let my hubby take a walk down memory lane with me. Unfortunately...I was shocked. Appalled even at how the quality of Sno-To-Go has changed. There is still an immense selection of quirky flavors however, the soft serve they use to stuff the shaved ice was disgusting. It had the consistency of curdled milk. At first, I tried to make myself believe that maybe the heat was affecting my sense of taste. But who was I fooling? The look on my husband face made it all too real. Sno-To-Go let me down. The soft serve was not creamy but lumpy. It left this thick after taste in my mouth that was far from pleasant. $7 wasted. I would've been better off going to McDonald's. But you know, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe their machine was malfunctioning that day or maybe they were training someone new at the machine. Whatever it is...I hope they fix it pronto. BTW, their website is not updated. The hours are from 3pm-10pm on Monday-Friday and Saturday it's from 12-10pm and Sunday they're closed. FYI, because we got there at 2:30 pm thinking they were open but they weren't so we ended up going to Hot Dog King...to be continued in the next review. =P read more

Their flavors are incredible and creative, their sizes are perfect (not too big or too small), and their prices can't be beat!! They don't take credit/debit cards, but you only need a couple bucks to get a good size! The workers AND the owners are awesome, so friendly and nice! Very helpful too, as your first time can be a little overwhelming looking at all the flavors they offer. You WILL NOT regret coming here. NOT OPEN ON SUNDAYS.
