Great tasting food. Good service. Small dining area ambiance is neutral. You can call in your order ahead of time, which I did. I ordered the King combo they have a large variety of food, burgers, chicken burgers, chili cheese fries, milk shakes, ice cream, etc.

Huge for the price way bigger than McDonald's

You need to update your menu and prices, online. I can't order without knowing what the prices are, and I'd really like to order. Thank you.

I've been coming here since I was a kid, long before I knew anything about food writing or nostalgia. Back then, it was just breakfast. Now, it's memory. Walk inside and you're greeted by a world built from the bones of The Dukes of Hazzard. Walls lined with memorabilia, old merchandise, photos, and relics from a show that celebrated mischief, grit, and Southern charm. It's not decoration, it's identity. Boss Hogs feels like the kind of place Bourdain would've wandered into on a long road trip, looked around, and said, "Yeah... this is America." For years, I stuck to the chicken fried steak, the dish that raised me. Crispy, tender, honest. The kind of breakfast that doesn't need reinvention because it already knows exactly what it is. But lately I've been exploring. An omelette one week. Dinner the next. Boss Hogs serves dinner now, and somehow it fits, hearty plates that taste like they were made by people who care more about feeding the town than impressing outsiders. Today it was corned beef. Surprisingly good corned beef, salty, warm, comforting. The kind of dish that reminds you why diners matter. They're not chasing trends. They're feeding people. And Boss Hogs feeds its people well. They've always had those little touches that tell you who they are: a variety of creamers, jams lined up like tiny offerings, toast that somehow tastes better here than anywhere else. The staff is the kind of crew you don't forget, friendly, familiar, and deeply woven into the community. Police stop in. Firefighters stop in. Locals stop in. Boss Hogs is one of those rare places where everyone is welcome, and everyone is fed like family. In a small town like Farmersville, a diner like this shouldn't be a hidden gem, but it is. People drive past without knowing what they're missing. They don't see the history on the walls, the pride in the service, or the quiet excellence in a plate of corned beef or chicken fried steak. Boss Hogs doesn't pretend to be anything fancy. It doesn't need to. It's real, and that's enough.

We got coffee, strawberry lemonade, and fountain drink. When the drinks arrived they took the food order. It was an open face turkey sandwich, a Bacon Cheddar Burger, and avocado toast. My mother in law opted for dessert only so she had a banana cream pie. The food came out in a very decent time. We were chatting so we felt that it came pretty quick. The Burger was crispy and juicy. With the fries it was very filling. The turkey sandwich was so good. My husband loves it. He order the same thing every time we come. He mentions the turkey tastes freshly made. The avocado toast was very yummy. I added the sauce they have. They have different spicy leves so they called it baby bear for the mild momma bear for the middle spicy and the papa bear for the very spicy one. I love that one. It has some seasoning that makes it even better. The coffee it's always freshly brewed. My daughter loves the strawberry Lemonade they add some fresh strawberries. The ambiance it's very familiar. There were a birthday celebration and.they were singing happy birthday to them. I got excited and clap with them. So nice and inviting.

I didn't include a picture because I completely inhaled my food . By the time I thought about taking one, the plate was already gone. That alone should tell you everything you need to know. I ordered one of their pasta dishes (you really can't go wrong), and it was fresh, flavorful, and honestly hit the spot in a way that made me pause mid-bite like "okay wait... this is REALLY good." Portions were perfect too. Now for my favorite part the drinks. I don't drink alcohol, but Alexis the bartender absolutely understood the assignment. She made me a spicy cucumber mocktail that was hands down one of the best drinks I've had. Refreshing with just the right kick 10/10. Service was just as good as the food. Aaron was my server and made everything easy and comfortable, checking in without overdoing it. You can tell the staff actually cares. I also want to shout out Ray and Cynthia from management, they helped create an overall welcoming vibe that you don't always get everywhere. Overall, amazing food, great service, and a place I'll definitely keep coming back to. Just next time... I'll try (no promises) to take a picture before I inhale everything.

The complimentary bread was hard, possibly old bread and their signature dipping sauce was so cold (normally served really warm). I again ordered the Chicken Piccata. The noodles were all stuck together, requiring me to use a knife to cut them. Everything else was good. My salad a a few pieces of wilted greens, which I picked out. The others in my party said their food was ok. We ordered the Truffle Fries for our appetizer. The fries were piping hot and flavorful. Service was ok, she was efficient and got our orders correct. The ambiance is casual and on this occasion, quiet. I'm so disappointed that Fugazzis missed the mark on this occasion.

So having a massive jar of soda already right in front of me? Huge win. Now, moving on to the slightly traumatizing part: they did not bring out bread to the table. Excuse me? I'm sorry, but if I am sitting down for Italian, table bread is not an optional courtesy--it is a fundamental human right. And it became an even bigger issue when my fettuccine arrived, because the portion size was... let's just say aggressively small for a dinner entree. I was expecting a meal, not a decorative sample. However... it was infuriatingly good. They make their own pasta fresh in-house, and the texture was honestly undeniable. My husband ordered the Margherita pizza, and he literally declared--with complete, uncharacteristic enthusiasm--that it was hands-down the best Margherita pizza he has ever gotten. So, massive points there. What was not a massive point, however, was the subterranean seating situation. We were escorted downstairs into the basement, which was pitch black. But more importantly: the stairs are completely unlit. I'm sorry, but they are actively asking to get sued. It is a litigious nightmare waiting to happen. Someone is going to take one wrong step in the dark, tumble down that staircase, and own the entire restaurant by next Tuesday. They are practically begging for a lawsuit. That being said... despite the pitch-black staircase of death and the tragic lack of dinner rolls, overall? I really liked it. The food completely won me over, and I would definitely go back. I will just be bringing a flashlight and my own emergency focaccia next time.

I first reviewed Pete's Place many years ago, back when I was just starting out with simple food…read morereviews. Coming back now, I wanted to see if it still lived up to the five stars I gave it back then, not out of nostalgia, but out of curiosity. The menu has grown into a wide spread: sandwiches, salads, burgers, chicken fried steak, even pasta. It's the kind of menu that makes you realize this place is built to feed everyone, no matter what they're in the mood for. I started with something simple, a water on a hot summer day, and it arrived with a lemon wedge. It's a small touch, but one I haven't seen in a while. The kind of detail that tells you someone still cares about the basics. It was lunchtime, so I waited a bit to be seated, but that's just part of dining in a small town. The waitress was kind, patient, and attentive in a way that stood out. Before I could even ask, she refilled my water multiple times, noticing the half‑empty glass and taking care of it without hesitation. That kind of service goes a long way. I ordered the jalapeño burger, and it came out faster than expected. The fries were lightly salted steak fries, my favorite, and cooked just right. The burger itself was a mixed experience. The bun was grilled, which gave it good flavor, but it also made it collapse into a thin, flat shape the moment I picked it up. And while I ordered a jalapeño burger expecting heat, the jalapeños were thick, grilled slices from a large pepper. Every bite was dominated by jalapeño, to the point where the burger itself got lost in the background. I love spicy food, but the balance was off, more jalapeño than burger. Still, the service was warm, the goodbye on the way out was genuine, and the menu has enough variety that I'd come back to try something different. I'm not handing out five stars this time, but I'm also not writing this place off. Pete's Place is part of Exeter's rhythm, and revisiting it felt like checking in with an old spot that still has plenty to offer, just maybe not that jalapeño burger again.
