The service is always great! We went with my mother in Law. We all like this place. And the food. They sat us right away and they took our drinks order. We got coffee, strawberry lemonade, and fountain drink. When the drinks arrived they took the food order. It was an open face turkey sandwich, a Bacon Cheddar Burger, and avocado toast. My mother in law opted for dessert only so she had a banana cream pie. The food came out in a very decent time. We were chatting so we felt that it came pretty quick. The Burger was crispy and juicy. With the fries it was very filling. The turkey sandwich was so good. My husband loves it. He order the same thing every time we come. He mentions the turkey tastes freshly made. The avocado toast was very yummy. I added the sauce they have. They have different spicy leves so they called it baby bear for the mild momma bear for the middle spicy and the papa bear for the very spicy one. I love that one. So we have ordered the full turkey dinner for a large group in the past and it was delicious. This year it was just my husband, my daughter and myself so we ordered three individual dinners expecting the same quality. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Went on a Sunday; after the church crowd. Not many tables ; maybe six sat at; others available; however made us wait 5-10 minutes to be sat. Service was good; drinks always filled. One of the better Black Bears we have tried in our travels. The servers were pleasant, the service was pretty quick, and the food was quite good. Our entire party was very well pleased. We met some friends who live in the area after driving in from Klamath Falls so good service and good food was very welcome. I brought my three nieces for lunch and since they're little I had to leave the table with them to take the to the restaurant and I'm not leaving my purse. Whomever is cooking there is a horrible cook! I had planned to go to the Visalia Black Bear for Thanksgiving but there was a line out the door and down the sidewalk. My husband decided to go to the Tulare diner. I thought, well it's been 2 years maybe they have a new cook. THIS is what I got after ordering a $31.99 Prime Rib meal! I will NEVER eat there again. I don't even care if my husband wants to go eat there again. The stuffing was mush and tasted funny and the prime rib was inedible. When they served it to me it looked like they had thrown it on the plate. If I was the waitress I couldn't have served that too anyone with a straight face. PLEASE get a new cook! So I've had black bear diner in other cities and this is worst location I've been to in terms of food. Let's start with the good. Service was pretty decent. Our server was super nice and friendly. The tables are small and weirdly set up. We arrived around 11am and not many diners yet. Now the food. Tenders were over done and dry. Onion rings were just decent. This used to be a go to spot for my family. Not sure what changed but they never have enough staff, sometimes the staff is very rude & the good often comes out on the luke warm side. Went earlier today, around 10:45am for Mother's Day. I completely understand that it was super packed, but that is no excuse for being served cold food. I ordered a joes hobo omelette. The ham was ice cold, the bacon was super oily and the middle of the omelette was cold. Aside of that, the biscuits and gravy were cold as well. The last time that I went here, I ordered a full-size salad, which was huge and very fresh and then I also got a hamburger and some fries. The hamburger was huge also and cooked pretty well. Everything was hot and my son got a side of scrambled eggs that was hot and a huge portion as well service was very hometown friendly, and when I had mentioned that it was hot in there, they had turned the air down and it was very comfortable after that. I also bought three personal pies that were all delicious and fresh that lasted about four days in the fridge. Shared a California burger for dinner with fries and side salad. They let you order the cooking temperature how you like it, which is nice. Very nicely prepared and service was pretty good. For breakfast I was craving a waffle so we split a big papa breakfast with a waffle, eggs bacon and a chicken sausage. The waffle wasn't made with waffle batter but more like a pancake batter. Thai review is for our to go order we placed. My daughter and I love the chicken apple sausage scramble. However, I noticed it's no longer on the menu. Such a stab in the heart! I wanted to get this for my daughter as it's her fav and she has a big competition today. So I tried calling to see if they could make it. I think I called 8 times since no answer (they were busy). The sweet person on the phone was able to ask the chef and he knew the scramble and was able to make it. It made our day! However, the downside is once we got back to the hotel we noticed we had no butter or jam for the toast and the toast was dry . The hotel didn't have any either so she wasn't able to eat it. I was driving through the 99 and stopped here for a late dinner. I really liked that the place was nice and clean. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and very helpful. The service was excellent and very quick. I have been to quite a few different black bear restaurants through California and I have got to say this was a great experience and tastier Black Bears I have been to.
