It's fun, you don't have to bend over like with strawberry picking, and you can get pounds of berries for a lot less than the grocery store. I first heard about Mountainview Blueberry Farm from my aesthetician who enjoyed picking there with her kids. So, in mid-August on a Thursday, we got there around 10:30am. You pick up a pail or bucket and a staff member points you to the field area to pick. The blueberry varietal for that day was Concord. The berries are small to medium but have a wonderful, deep blueberry flavor. It took us about 90 minutes to pick almost three pounds. We were charged $3.45/pound. We enjoyed eating a bunch of berries raw that evening and I baked a batch of blueberry muffins that turned out delicious! Then a few days later, we made freezer jam from the rest and OMG, it was like the elixir of the gods. Wow. So good! A week later we went back to Mountainview to pick more. This time we went on a Friday and got there around 11:15am. That day, the varietals were Concord and Blue Ray. We were better at picking our second time and picked four pounds in about 50 minutes. Again, we took them home, ate a bunch raw, and then a few days later, turned the rest of the berries into freezer jam. This elixir of the gods was EVEN BETTER than the first batch because the two varietals together created a wonderful, unique flavor. We were delighted! My hubs and I are now fans of blueberry picking and want to return every summer. Thank you, Mountainview Farm! Sunflower festival and u-pick blueberries with an 18 month old!…read more We purchase 2 adult sunflower admissions tickets and one butterfly release ticket and it totaled around $50. The sunflower area was really cute, we chose not to take any flowers home with us but we enjoyed all of the photo props and areas. They had face painting vendor but we didn't try it out. We enjoyed the butterfly release! My son really loved seeing the butterflies! This was a ticket we bought separately from admission but we thought it was fun. You can also just watch the butterflies without buying a ticket. For the price i thought it was kind expensive for what was available but all in all, I don't mind supporting the farm. It's very laid back and more bare bones than other farms we've been to. U-pick blueberry is free admission and so is the area where you can get blueberry lemonade and ice cream. They have a store with some of their goods like blueberry syrup and jam. They don't sell already picked blueberries so you have to make sure to bring your blueberry picking energy. They have buckets you can use.

This VikingFest occurs yearly in May and involves the entire town. The people are kind and the foods are fabulous. We tried 4 different meat pies and can't tell you which we liked best! It was set up perfectly with the carnival and rides set away from the entertainment, craft, and food vendors that were located near the marina, which kept the lines down. We even attended the Lion's fundraiser Pancake Breakfast on Sunday! It was great. Yummy pancakes, eggs, sausage, etc.! All breakfast funds are going towards the Lion's scholarship. (I was a recipient back when I attended college in the Dark Ages, so please help out this group if/when you can!) Highly recommend this festival that runs Friday afternoon through Sunday.

Not only do you get to explore all the little shops in downtown Poulsbo, there are many little vendors set up along the waterfront. They range from the same old people that show up at every festival in Kitsap to people specializing in things like drinking horns. They have a carnival ride area that runs throughout the weekend. On Saturday during the festival there is a parade that is a lot of fun to watch. The "vikings" may not be the most authentic, but it is a lot of fun. There is a viking village where you can learn from the people that staff it and are set up in tents and wearing traditional clothing. The stage is filled with all sorts of entertainment throughout the weekend.

Facebook was all a - flutter with complaints about the timing. It sucks to have to stand in a long line at 10am, however it was great exposure for the vendors. The food was very good. My husband and I were…read morereally looking forward to it, as we've always loved TFF and were excited to have a new place to eat in Snohomish. First and foremost, the food was delicious! We were not disappointed in that area at all. The presentation was beautiful, and both the quality and portion sizes were spot on. We had the wedge salad, corn ribs, and steak bites (made with steak from their own farm), and everything was excellent. The service was also fantastic. The team at TFF is among the best in Snohomish. A couple of things could be improved, which I imagine are growing pains from opening weekend. The biggest challenge was that we had to close out our tab each time we ordered rather than keeping one tab open throughout our visit. It was very inconvenient as a guest experience, so hopefully that's something they're able to streamline as they settle into operations. The other minor issue was that the store area wasn't quite ready yet, so we weren't able to fully experience that part of the visit. I'm looking forward to seeing it completed when we come back. Overall, not much has changed from the Rusty Nail we knew before, but the food is great, the service is wonderful, and we're excited to visit again soon.

After waiting for 20 minutes, I went to their food pickup table to get our meals as soon as they were ready so that we could eat and get to the butterfly release. I saw what looked like five of the seven items we ordered come out shortly. They then sat under a heat lamp for another 20 minutes, when two of us left to get to the butterfly release. I was fairly certain that quite a few orders placed afer ours were served before us, as there were only three groups at tables when we arrived, and many more than that were served while we waited. The rest of our group joined us just before 12:30 with our food orders. After the butterfly event, we went back to our outdoor table and finally had our lunch about 90 minutes after we placed our order. We then discovered that we got a kids size mac and cheese instead of the adult entree, and the other kids mac and cheese included was minus the fruit. Thomas Family Farms is a great place to visit, but avoid their restaurant.

Kla Ha Ya Days is an annual festival mostly around Downtown Snohomish. They have a bunch of events…read more- a Carnival at Harvey Air Field, a kid's fair at Bickford station, a parade downtown, a street fair downtown, a vendor market downtown, a car show downtown, and music at the Avenue A gazebo downtown. Everything's mostly what you'd expect - small town vibes, tons of people out and about, hot sun (wear sunscreen!), and a ridiculous amount of stuff to do over the 5-day event. I didn't go to this, but the funniest event to me is the "Dunk the Mayor" event at the street fair. Super funny.

Tried getting into Albertson's to do an errand before going to the festival and the entire parking lot was full. That's never happened before in the 16 years I've gone there. They also had a stage, pet area, bouncy toys, rock climbing wall and more but didn't bother crawling through the crowd to see them. If I had kids with me, I would have.

The Kirkland Summerfest is one of the prettiest festivals, aesthetically speaking. Incorporating the use of beach, park, Heritage Hall, and the streets, there is a lot to appreciate the natural beauty in this area. It's moderate in size. Over the years, they have changed how many streets they close for this event. This year (2019) is more modest in size. The good thing is that they are open from Friday to Sunday so you can choose the convenient time for you to attend. Be sure to study the map so you're not missing out! Parking is street only, or library or city hall.

I participated in the Kirkland Summerfest in conjunction with the Sip Kirkland wine tasting event…read more I had a really great time here and even though there were a lot of people at the event it wasn't overly crowded unlike other food / festival events that are overwhelmingly busy and the lines are really long. The weather was perfect and this year it was located at the downtown Kirkland Marina Park and it is an absolutely beautiful park especially to eat and drink and enjoy the scenery for a social event like this.

If you do then do yourself a favor and check out the Olympic Music Festival. I truly *heart* this musical getaway. I've driven past the signs to the Olympic Music Festival many times in the past on my way to Hood Canal and we've finally stopped by. My regret is that we didn't do this sooner. This is such a wonderful activity to do in the summer time. Pack a picnic, a bottle of wine, some carrots (for the donkeys) and head over to Hood Canal. The experience of listening to beautiful music in the shades of the apple trees surrounded by mountains and open air...HEAVENLY (and I'm not even exaggerating). Beethoven sounded even better when I'm breathing in fresh country air and gazing up at blue sky and mountains...seriously! If I could write poetry, this place would surely be an inspiration. GO! NOW! or the next weekend (open on weekends at 2pm). They're playing all summer until Labor Day.
