Great space overlooking the marina & waterway This place has great happy hour specials for drinks & food - daily from 4p-5:30p and great fresh seafood options...but just like the rest of the world - could use more staff. The bartender was waiting on our table while also trying to provide drinks for the entire restaurant. He tried his best but the staff was just not together tonight. Most of the food was good...once we got it. Appetizer came during the meal, she crab soup & Mac-n-cheese were almost forgotten, & my daughter's crab legs came after most people were done eating,. Wife ordered the Teri tuna lettuce wraps, she said it seemed like they were pre-made & refrigerated - everything was extremely cold. My son ordered the candied bacon burger - looked like a frozen Patty but he said the bacon was amazing. The fried seafood was fresh and flash fried perfectly. The flavor of the crab dip & firecracker shrimp were tasteful. Overall - fried seafood and the raw bar are what they specialize in & all we should have ordered. I am one to always give the benefit of the doubt, so we will probably return. We saw a road sign advertising Snooky's in little river and decided to try it. We parked at the marina next door and found it easily. The decor was very cute, prices are very reasonable, the view is great, the staff was very friendly and lots of smiles. I had the "lunch portion" of shrimps and grits which was huge! Very tasty, they made my top 5 list! . My husband had the fish and chips and the batter was crispy with lots of flavor, the fish very flaky and cooked perfectly. read more

We enjoyed a delicious grouper sandwich and mahi. The preparation was so unique. They grilled the fish then rolled it in oatmeal vs breadcrumbs. This was served over lettuce or you could opt for a bun. My side was sweet potato fry's which were cooked nice a crispy. Our server was so nice and friendly and there's a pretty view. I asked if they had an elevator but they don't. So you'll need to know you've got to climb two set of stairs to get to the restaurant. read more

Another visit to Snooky's on a very lively Saturday night. The food and service were terrific as always, but the inside dining area was incredibly loud! They have replaced the acoustic ceiling tiles with solid tiles that greatly increase the sound level making the dining experience less than enjoyable in this part of the restaurant. Not a fan of inside. I'll dine outside or give the enclosed porch a try, but never inside again. read more

Food here is AMAZING. Watermelon salsa on the Ahi wontons, were a flavor explosion of wonderful. So tasty! My husband has the firecracker shrimp wrap, and it had so many shrimp! WAY more than a meal for one ... and he said every bite had both shrimp and blue cheese. He said he ate way to much. Lol. Oysters arrived steamed, as requested and fresh, delicious, with absolutely no grit. We had a sampler which had probably the best calamari we've honestly ever had. Really, it was all great. The bloody marys were ON PIONT as well. I recommend the food here. I'm definitely going to visit this place again before we move on. read more

Gave them another try this past May on a Monday night. Services was much better! Ordered the tuna again - and it was completely different from what I received a year ago. It was delicious, but had a LOT of teriyaki sauce on top. Thankfully I'm a fan of sauces, but if you're looking for the pure taste of tuna - I think I'd be turned off by this. Also - not complaining, but the serving of tuna was similar to eating a steak. Large slices and a huge portion size. Enough so that we changed our mind on a full dinner. This was our 2nd time coming here, although it was 10 yrs apart. Not quite as Good as remembered but definitely still Good. Had the Grouper Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries & Fire Cracker Taco Box with Creamed Spinch. That's what was chosen for sides. They have a variety of sides. The Crust for the Grouper Sandwich was Good, but too much crust for me. I was not greasy! And the crust had thin slices almonds, gave it an extra crunch. The Diablo Shrimp Taco Box wasn't bad but too fried. Next time on the Taco Box we'll get blacken shrimp. The reason for 5 Stars is for GEORGE! Our Waiter!!!! Well, reading recent reviews made me feel like I'm not alone. We've eaten there before and it was so good, we couldn't wait to come back. Big mistake. Ordered crab dip, it came with shrimp in it which I'm allergic to. Ordered a beer and our server completely forgot about it, did get it 15 min later. Took 50 min to get our food. Taco was supposed to have wasabi in it, nope. My daughter side was grits, which had no taste except water. I've included a picture of my creamed spinach, which was a bowl of white sauce and a little bit of spinach. It was impossible to eat and I've left a photo of it. Our server, who I won't mention by name, spent much of his time talking about himself vs taking care of his customers, then apologized time and time again. Be also aware that you take the first parking spot you see. Nothing at the front of the restaurant. If there is a wait the hostess will call your cell. You can wait at the bar or outside. Outdoor seating is on a small patio and overlooks a marina and marsh. Indoor seating has plenty of windows. Half dozen raw oysters, salmon on a Greek salad and blackened salmon. House Merlot was very good. Staff was friendly and helpful despite being swamped. Can't wait for our next trip to try out their Happy Hour. read more

This was our first time here, and we just stopped in on our way from Myrtle Beach to calabash for a quick brunch. Didn't really know what to expect but we had heard good things from a friend. I have had better of both. The 3 protein platter my friends had looked very small for what it was. I'm feeling generous so I'm giving 4 stars because of their prices (reasonable) and the food (pretty darn delicious). Our waiter was a spitfire! Unfortunately, a couple of our meals were missed when they were put in the POS system. That's always a problem when most of the table have already finished their meals before others at the table receive their meal. But, the signature cocktails were flowing, the food was delicious (except the sweet potato fries that were served cold). Steaks were cooked appropriately, the scallops were pan seared in some sort of pepper butter, crab cakes were more crab than filling (as they should be), salads were fresh, crab legs were steamed properly, as was the lobster. It's a small joint, with what looks like a great outdoor patio when weather is a bit warmer, inside is beachy-chic. Parking was kind of odd - and there are quite a few stairs to enter the restaurant. There was also some issues with the bathrooms (I'm spare you the details on that one!). Well, went to Snooky's on the water in Little River. It was a Sat. and went there for "Happy Hour" as per usual. (I'm a local-try to go every week or so). Ordered our drinks and asked for the "Happy Hour" menu that we usually look at in order to decide on some app's before ordering our dinner. Waitress proceeds to tell us there is NO Happy Hour. We questioned her to why and she tells us they just changed it a few days ago. Happy Hour now is only Mon-Fri now from 4-5:30PM. Previously, it was 4-7PM Everyday. Local magazine "Sand Dollars"- June 2024 Issue which recently just came out advertises "Happy Hour" at Snooky's on the water specifically from 4-7PM. This is not the first time Snooky's has done this. Over the course of year/half I believe they have changed their Happy Hour time with this being the 4th time. Not sure what they are thinking?? Looking back I guess a good indicator should have been when we walked in the front door on this particuliar Saturday night and noticed the bar area/seating was completely empty at 5pm. Usually it is full and you have to wait for a seat. We ended up having a drink each and left and went to another establishment nearby that has H/H everyday 4-7PM and proceeded to have drinks, app's and dinner. This is one of our three favorite seafood restaurants in SC. We've made the 35 minute drive to go up to Little River to meet some friends three different times now and this place did NOT disappoint us. We had great service and the price was reasonable. The only downside was when you order the combo platter, you have to choose either fried, blackened or grilled. They don't allow you to have fried oysters and say grilled shrimp, fish, etc.... The side salad was also very good in taste and portion. My favorite was the tuna appetizer, the one served with the fried tortillas chips. We'll be back! read more

Sarah greeted me and 2 friends right away and got us going with good food and terrific drinks. There a likely a lot of places to get good seafood, Snooky's is definitely a keeper for that. By the looks of the menu we were excited to try this place. We had a 35 minute wait on a Wednesday. It sits on the water which is really nice with music playing and everyone seeming to enjoy themselves. Our server started off very attentive but that was at first. The attention stopped and we found ourselves waiting at least 10 minutes before she returned. The food looked so delicious as we looked at the plates coming by. However the looks were deceiving. Nothing that was cooked tasted good, zero. The calamari had no seasonings on it although it was a good serving. The rice pilaf was undercooked. The macaroni and cheese was watery and tasted boxed. As you can see how runny the creamed spinach is and it tasted like straight spinach with no other flavor. My pan seared shrimp and scallops came out last and were clearly burnt. All the burnt drippings were included on my plate and that made it disgusting. No seasoning on anything. The oysters I'm told we're very good and fresh as well as the salad. read more

We went there for lunch today. Pros: the seafood was fresh, and the view was terrific. Generous portions. Cons: rude wait staff (understandably, it's a busy holiday weekend). The kitchen fried our [fresh] seafood in extremely spent oil; it was pretty bad, but as the wait staff was so rude, I didn't feel like causing further distress for them. 2nd time here (1st was almost 10 years ago). I remembered the "wasabi coleslaw" and had to revisit. Ordered the firecracker shrimp wrap, changed the blue cheese for cheddar cheese, was amazing. The side of coleslaw was a huge soup bowl serving. Entire party enjoyed their meals; crab cakes (husband said it was the best he ever had!), candied bacon cheeseburger, and fish tacklebox tacos. Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. The servers were great and the food was tasty. The only negative was the temperature in the building. I get it's South Carolina, but windows were open the air was struggling. We sat and sweat for 15 minutes. Even the poor workers had portable fans on their necks. Very disappointed have been to Snooky's many times, Sundays night was horrible, air conditioning did not work, asked about oysters no one could answer any questions about taste or salinity of oysters. I ordered the oyster and the person staffing the raw bar did not know how to open them. Ordered the she crab soup can out in a big glob looked like potato salad, ordered the lobster and crab legs and they came out cold. This was the most disorganized out of control night. Came here as an anniversary happy hour for me and the hubby. This was the restaurant that my husband took me to back then before proposing to me. It has actually been 2 years since we got to come here. We didn't make it out here last year and the year before that, I had to stay at home and finish my papers for my MBA. Since the last time we came here (2016), it has definitely changed. There use to be more open space, but they enclosed it and make made it into a larger serving table spot. Parking may be limited so be sure. There's parking along the left narrow side of the road before you get close to the restaurant. We were seated pretty quickly - possibly because we wanted to sit by the bay window. We were in luck and they were still serving their happy hour specials. The hubby and I decided on starting out with some Mule drinks and then trying out their conch fritters, 1/2 lb peel and eat shrimp (cajun spices), and the "signature" She Crab Soup. All came out within a reasonable time and was quite delicious. They were very good portions sizes and perfect for splitting between two. Service was pretty good and the live music was on point! The place has changed - in the best way. Menu is amazing. Food is amazing. Servers are amazing. Their outside area is totally open now - no overhang - and a tad lower than where it was before. There was one table left calling our name. A much better experience than my first review 6+ years ago. The side salad my Dad got was big enough for the entire table. Absolutely horrible. The food I ordered came barely warm. They sprinkled cold non-melted cheese over my pasta like I wouldn't notice. My kids food was an incredibly small portion and she came home still hungry. Our server smelled slightly of cigarettes but he was fairly nice. One of the other servers was kind to our child and encouraged her to finish her oyster. The ambience was good and the rest of my family enjoyed their food more than I did. They had a bloody mary self-service bar which was neat. The foot came out really quick, but was really fresh. I would love to eat here again if we dive out of this spot again. Our family had a fantastic meal here over Spring Break! Great atmosphere. Large portions. Friendly staff. We had to wait a little bit to get a table but that is to be expected as it is a rather small place. It was worth the wait, though. Our group ordered everything from the crab legs, crab cakes, burger, shrimp, chicken tenders, salads, and more. It was all delicious! The location was a little out of the way for us and the parking is a bit odd, but nothing that would keep me from coming back. Would recommend to just about anyone. Worst service I have received in years; maybe ever. Sat for 15 minutes before drink orders were taken. Drinks arrived 15 minutes later. Food orders placed. 30 minutes later the manager comes out and apologizes for the delay. Forty minutes later two of the five entrees came and the waitress declares one of the entrees was not available. About another 15 minutes goes by and two more entrees show up. Four people started eating their entrees - the first two that came out were by now ice cold. The fifth person sat there and watched everyone else eat. Finally the fifth entree arrived and we all got to watch that person eat. The waitress blamed the kitchen staff and the bill was discounted, but I will never be back there and recommend to anyone reading this that they avoid this place until such time that there's an improvement in the staff. Great happy hour with an even better view no matter if you sit inside or out. It's a great spot to watch the sunset or enjoy a nice dinner as well. There's really a lot to watch outside during high season as it's by a boat warehouse-type place with boat forklifts diligently storing boats inside the neighboring building. I think the dinners are a bit pricy, but all the food is a really nice quality and comes out fairly quick. Most things seem to have their own little twist which is fun! read more
