Heck, they'll even do a quick tune of your skis so you can fully enjoy your day. I have never been snowshoeing. When we showed up the guys engaged in a great conversation. They asked us where we were going. We let them know it was our first time and they gave us directions. They even gave us birdseed to feed the chickadees! The entire process took about 5 minutes. And you can't beat the price! We came in, I filled out a form, paid and we left. Super quick, super easy. I didn't have any questions as I had done my research on snowshoeing. With the lousy snow conditions, and all the ice we had, the wax was almost gone. I had a great powder day at Kirkwood and I could tell it was riding a little slow. I stopped in to see if they could do a quick wax for me since I was heading out again in a couple of days. I was able to get a level 1 wax on the spot and was out the door in less than five minutes. I am happy to give my support to a local shop that takes care of their clientele.

Otherwise, for those looking to rent a snowboard package or ski package, it's about $50 for one day. Make sure to use the 10% coupon they have on their site to save some money. If you have the time to do it, make sure to pick up your skis/snowboards the day before after 4PM. They let you pick up the day before so the mad rush in the morning of people renting equipment won't slow you down. It comes at no additional cost. You must return all equipment by 7PM.

The mountain offers everything from mom runs, to terrain parks, to the more challenging runs for expert skiers. It wasn't crowded during our visit and there are two high-speed 6-person lifts, so the lines were short. We stayed at the Hyatt Place in Reno, that's only about 25 minutes away, and has a great free breakfast. The roads were clear, so it was any easy drive to the slopes from our hotel. It's a great family resort, with a lot to offer.

We even brought along old, broken Rock Band gaming instruments and a broken electronic drum kit and were happy that they took them! All for free! The items they do accept but charge for are TVs (now $45 each) and CRT monitors ($25 each).

It is really great to see people doing great things for the community. This organization works to…read moreraise money by repairing and selling bikes. They also give bikes to children through local agencies and businesses. I've purchased a few bikes from them in the past and been quite happy. The staff are friendly. Their is a noticeable difference in knowledge between the trainers and the trainees. What I noticed this trip was that a lot of the bikes seemed overpriced. For instance, there was a used bike for $120 that I could buy new at Walmart for $140 (plus tax). I don't know what changed but it didn't feel like a good deal to buy a bike there any longer. Perhaps the Bike Swap is a good option.
