This is a great shop and it's owner couldn't be more well qualified. I went in for a boot fit, thinking my ski boots were fine but wanted them checked anyway. Wow was i wrong! Bud found a number of issues and corrected them on the spot. He's extremely knowledgeable as a expert boot fitter but also takes the time to explain what he sees and how he plans to correct it. He does a great job describing an artful complex science in layman's terms. The proof is in the pudding however and my first day on the hill post-fit was noticeably better! Edge control and the overall "feel" of my skis were a vast improvement over before... and i thought things were fine before going in! I had Bud fit me for a new set of boots this past October. It is four months post purchase and the boots fit like a glove. Bud spent almost two hours with me learning about my 60 year ski history, 5 year hiatus due to a head injury, and my concern about learning how to ski again. Bud is a highly skilled bootfitter. We drove from the Bay Area to purchase and have the boots fitted. (We purchased 2 pairs of ski boots) We also had to have our boots or skis canted so we were over our skis. We have been skiing for a number of years and knew that it would be quite painful to have new boots fitted. Well Surprise, it was not painful and it took one more visit to fit them to our liking. In the past, we shimmed, dremeled and slowly modified our boots to fit snug enough for a quick response. We both used to race and now just want a good firm fit, but not the racing stiffness. Bud took care of all of this. It was worth driving here and not dealing with cramps, blisters and anything else that can ruin a ski trip. Thank you Bud!!! read more

Amazing shop! I just came to get my skis waxed (and make sure they are ok for the upcoming season). Service + pricing were great! Didn't need any other equipment at the time but I will be back for anything I need in the future. When my regular boot fitter moved after 39 years of service, I was left with no one in my ski town to help. Hesitating to make the long drive, I did it anyway. What a foot saver!!!! I was lucky enough to have Bud re-fit my 6 yr. old boots(fitted by a prominent local fitter) that had started to be very painful over the last 2 years with the pain often lasting 3-4 days after skiing...On short notice he was able to spend a good 45 mins and basically do a "re-fit". Skied the next day pain free!!!! I concur Bud is friendly, obviously knowledgeable and someone you definitely trust to get your boots back on the right track....couldn't believe the difference! Bud Heishman is the #1 best boot fitter in Reno/Tahoe hands down. Ok I know what all the hard core race skiers are thinking. This guy or that guy's the best. Well let me tell you I've been to them all. Sure boot fitting is an art but Bud is ego less he would be the first one to praise all the other top mountain boot fitters. My story: I was so fed up with the pain in my 130 race technical boots that I was done for the year (2016) I could not afford new ones since I'd already blown 800+ a year ago. Bud took over 2 hours with me fine tuning my (40 days in 2 years because of pain) boots into encapsulating slippers. I had the best day I've had in 10 years. My buddies couldn't believe the skier I was since for 10 seasons all I could say was my feet hurt, my feet hurt, my feet hurt, I need beer because my feet hurt see you in the bar. I have been looking for a ski shop that was knowledgeable about the gear that they sold and knew how to use it. Additionally I needed a qualified and competent boot fitter, until now I had found neither so I thought that I would give Snowind a try after all the reviews seemed legit and I needed my Dynafit back country boots fitted. I called Bud and asked if he could do the fitting he replied sure come on in so Thursday I made the drive from Minden to his shop. Anyway we got started with the fitting he took all the measurements made the foot beds and fitted them perfectly to my feet and boots .Wow what a difference I was totally impressed so much so that I had him make a pair for my hiking boots again the fit was silky smooth. Why would anyone go to Good Feet and spend 500.00? The foot beds for the hiking boot were 150.00 which includes the foot bed and fitting additionally they can be used in any shoe. While he was making the foot beds I started to check out his shop I gotta say that I was impressed with all the great ski gear that he has with competitive pricing additionally he stocks the hard to find Norco E bikes along with a great assortment of MTB gear. Bud not only uses the gear that he sells he is very knowledgeable and can answer any questions that you might have. I am glad that I found Snowind and made the drive to his shop it was well worth it. I do ski but the real expertise for which I sought out Bud was for my feet in long distance running. He is known as the best ski boot fitter in the region, and I've struggled for years with foot problems and was having to reduce my racing and running schedule until Bud came through with the best custom fittings for my feet I've ever had.
