This tiny place gets very crowded

Hypnosis and Magic It's a place that time forgot ... a tavern of old. From the road, it looks like a neglected house overgrown with weeds. But inside, its a place where locals who work with their hands go in for a drink. I would refrain from talking politics in here. ;)

My goodness the reviews for this bar are politically charged. It's just a small town bar. To be fair the political feelings of the bar and its patrons are on display, but I don't see any crime in that. (Namely an anti-Hillary print out, clearly several years old, on the cork board. Is not as though they ask for your Republican issued card or you gun license on the way in.) Run by third generation owners, the bar got its liquor license when prohibition ended. Beer is sold by the bottle: Coors, Newcastle, Yuengling, Angry Orchard, etc. We also saw plenty of liquor: Makers's and Grey Goose among others. There are several seats along the bar and two tables. No food but you could snack on a homemade pickled egg if a batch is ready. We tried it, and it was fine, but not my particular cup of tea. People were friendly enough; mostly minded their own business. We had some small talk and felt welcome although I admit pretty in the spotlight. Everyone there (3 patrons and the owner) was kind to us. We played a game of darts; there is a pool table as well. Overall I'm glad we dropped by, and if it wasn't a snowy Monday evening in winter I imagine it would have been more crowded.

    Yep, it's scary awesome.

3 Stars?!? Are you kidding me? This place is AMAZING. No good booze on the bar, no craft beer, no food, no frills, but just what the doctor ordered. Pappy behind the bar is so welcoming and has worked there for 27 years. It's like a cross between greatest dive ever and scariest horror movie ever, in the best kind of way. 50 cent pool table, great juke, and all kinds of character. This place is a must see, for the right person. Everyone else sucks.

Whats not to love. Its an old bar out in the woods. Fun place for a few cold ones, But be careful driving home down the twisty backroads.

Every once in a while I would go down and have a drink or two and talk to Chet, the owner & bartender (then).

While a few OG, meat-and-potatoes restaurants still linger along backroads near us, hubs and I- now permanent residents in the Catskills since '24, have noticed how much the surrounding towns have evolved. And the spots that have been popping up are those that have a chic/boho/chichi/slash this/slash that style. Foxfire, was a nice surprise: a stylish, modern-farmhouse getup serving a simple menu that works no matter what eating lifestyle you follow. Foxfire felt incredibly cozy and inviting when we came here on a Saturday night to celebrate a new beginning soon. I mean...this is the kind of place you want to linger a little longer. Our server was pleasant and took his time answering my questions about whether certain dishes had mustard, mustard seed, mustard powder or Dijon. The Japanese Caesar salad sounded great on paper, but something told me to ask. Since mustard is usually part of a Caesar dressing and theirs didn't list it on the menu, I figured it was worth double-checking. Sure enough when I asked, it called for it. Next. We started with olives and creamy- but offbeat crab cakes. The cocktails looked great on paper but missed on strength. When both the starter and the drinks strike out, you get ready for a 3rd. Thankfully, the main plates kind of saved the night. Hubs liked his deconstructed "Farmhouse Chicken," sliced in 3 pieces ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and my Branzino was delicious. Service was solid though, but let's talk pricing: $18 cocktails with zero punch and a $40+ Branzino portion that was kind of small....hmmm. Don't expect the drinks or portions to keep up with the price tag.

All of the staff here are really nice & friendly. We started with Drinks. I had the Martini Special for the 4th of July and my husband had a Apple Spritzer made with Champagne. We went out to dinner today for my birthday. We started with the crispy brussel sprouts appetizer. It is sooo good. We had the Pan Seared Chicken which came with Fresh sautéed Green Beans and Polenta. The polenta was served in a square. I liked it that way and it made it easy to dunk in the Mushroom Gravy that came with the Chicken. My Mom had the Pan Seated Chicken too but they accommodated her by making a separate gravy minus the butter and hers was served with Salad & French Fries. We also had the Steak Tacos and a Watermelon Salad which was also delicious. We ended with dessert which was a Rubard Lemon tart and Black Raspberry Ice Cream wth whipped cream and a cherry. We totally enjoyed ourselves. My Moms have been coming to this restaurant for years. They also have a outdoor area behind the main restaurant called The Hill whete they have live music. The Restaurant is very clean, there is stonework throught out. It has a very warm relaxing vibe to it. As walk through the doors you are Always Welcomed with a Smile. Thank you for a very enjoyable dinner

We could barely eat the food it was so hot... there was also no air flow and everyone at our table could barely breathe it felt like, hence why it was hard to enjoy anything. I get that there is a heatwave, but we called around to many restaurants who closed down due to the heat so we felt like this was a safe bet. Took around 45 mins to get the food as well. Staff was sweet, but we lost our waitress halfway through which was aggravating. Our food came out and we asked for more drinks (soft drinks) and condiments and she never came back until we hunted her down for the check. Don't think we will be coming back.

Love places that offer a flight and the cashier was super helpful with providing recommendations based on m preferences Now the food.....HOLY MOLY! I had the following: - habanero pork taco - cod taco - fried pickles - cauliflower wings (mild and Korean bbq) Every single thing listed was probably some of the most incredible food I've ever had. I was genuinely surprised this random brewing in the side of a mountain really nailed the beauty of Asian flavoring. I'd highly recommend. It was great for our large party of 9 and being able to order at the bar was easy. Staff was very swift too.
