I am a sucker for a good cocktail bar. The fact they offer bao buns was enough for us to stop in. The baos come in mushroom or duck, in a flight of 3. We ordered the duck. All you could taste was the hoisin. So sweet it buried the duck and the pickled vegetables. Why was it garnished with random lettuce? Who knows? The heavy-handed hoisin was bad, but the buns' lack of fluffiness was downright depressing. The cocktails were a blast. The one mocktail was a hit. The tiki-themed Portal, served in a poisoned-apple mug, was fun. The espresso martini was the highlight of the night. I could have used 40oz of it. Recommend the drinks. Skip the bao. read more

Cocktail bar and restaurant, the interior is quirky and appealing. Everything they brought out looked creative and tasty, it was hard to resist not going to other tables to sample :). We ordered the mussels, which came with shrimp, in a tomato based broth. Seafood was fresh and tasty. We also ordered a side or grilled veggies, which were similarly tasty. The decor and the aesthetic of the place is dim lit and ominous, but in a good way. I thought the bottle of water for the table was very cute and cheeky. The appetizers were enough to fill. The star of the show here are the cocktails. I believe I had a zombie which was so good. I am definitely past the stage of drinking just cause and rather drinking great works of art. Food and ambiance were truly top notch, however service was very spotty. Two drink orders came back wrong, extremely long periods with no attention. All 4 small plates and 3 main dishes came at the same time, over filling the table and then no return of the server for extremely long periods (more than 30 minutes each) even after multiple attempts to wave down to order 2nd drink and later dessert. Better training for server and the results would be excellent. I should add that the server was very nice... just some unfortunate misses. read more

Lone Wolf definitely feels like a must if you are in the area. From the moment you step in you can tell every detail was considered by Anton and his team. The moody lighting and cozy vibes pair perfectly with the food that hits you like a warm hug. While I came in almost exclusively to try out their cocktails I left just as excited by the food, the corn ribs especially were top notch. That isn't to discount the bar program, a super well curated offering of familiar and challenging drinks that can provide something for anyone's palette. I was incredibly fortunate to get there as they opened and got the chance to really chat with Anton and the dude is great. He spent so much time nerding out on rums and you couldn't help but share his passion for it. My husband and i don't live in Kingston, but we've visited the Lone Wolf twice while in the area. This establishment really excels at cocktails and mocktails. We visited on tiki night most recently and found a lot of great cocktail options on the menu. My husband's Mai Tai tasted solid, and i was particularly impressed with the garden gimlet mocktail! It had a nice depth of flavor without feeling like drinking heavy juice. The decor is really pretty and the vibes are excellent. I recently discovered this place, and I've already been there twice. It is so good. The ambience is really cute. There is a very large bar on one section of the restaurant, and another room with seating on the other side. I have showed up here without a reservation, and have been given a seat by the bar, which was totally fine. Definitely make a reservation if you are a larger party or want to make sure that you get a table. The cocktails are fantastic. They are an absolute delight to the senses. So is the food. I was sad when New Paltz lost Fuchsia Tiki, but Lone Wolf is just as, or even better! The drinks are delicious and thoughtfully crafted. The menu of small bites is great, I highly suggest getting a mix of plates. I began with the brussel sprouts, bone marrow, and pork bao buns. All of them were cooked perfectly, and my only mistake was not getting roe on the bone marrow. Oh well, I will be back soon. The decor and ambiance inside was dark and cozy for a cold night and the live singer there on a Saturday eve really added to our experience. The service was just ok for our table of 4 but food did come out fast. We tried a little of everything on the small menu and the 2 standouts for me were the ahi tuna rice bites and the ahi tuna nachos. The nachos were soooo special/flavorful but also very messy! When I asked my husband what he wanted to do to celebrate his birthday, he had one request - to make the trip up to Lone Wolf. We have been big fans of Anton & team since Fuchsia Tiki and we were very excited to discover that yesterday also happened to be the 5 year anniversary of Fuchsia Tiki. We knew we needed to be there! For those of you who know and love Fuchsia Tiki, Lone Wolf pays tribute to Fuchsia Tiki every Sunday, complete with the infamous "Mai Tai or Die" neon sign. The cocktails at Lone Wolf are just as amazing as the ones we love from Fuchsia Tiki, there is no other cocktail bar in the whole Ulster county (and beyond) that even comes close. I absolutely love the decor here, it's so welcoming from the large Lone Wolf sign and grand doors out front, to the cute little monkey wallpaper in the bathroom. Once you step inside, you can choose to sit at the bar (highly recommend) or if you're with a group of friends, there's a beautiful spacious dining room area. There is also an outdoor patio area for when the weather gets nicer. As for cocktails, my husband had the Witch Doctor, Zombies Are Cool and the Mezpresso Martini, all of which were carefully crafted and delicious. I had the Meet Me At Midnight and In My Solitude mocktails. The Meet Me At Midnight is a combination of pear, ginger, lemon and is by far the best mocktail I have ever had!! I can't wait to come back and have another one. We had lunch prior to coming here but managed to save some room to try some of their food items. The bone marrow with rainbow trout roe served with sliced grilled baguette was sooo delicious - buttery goodness from the white butter miso, rich creamy bone marrow with the saltiness of the roe. I've never had this flavor combination but everything complimented each other so well! For dessert, we tried all 3 of their options - the flourless chocolate cake, beignets and creme brûlée. We loved all of them, but the warm crisp pillowy-soft beignets were our favorite! All of the staff members were very attentive and service was friendly! We love that Anton remembers his guests and always makes them feel welcome and valued. We wished we lived closer to Lone Wolf, we are now about an hour drive away. But trust me, it is worth the drive, and we can't wait to come back. Please check this place out, you will not regret it!! read more

We went to Lone Wolf after dinner for some late night cocktails. The cocktail bar had a very cozy ambiance with soft music, perfect for a date night. My partner was interested in trying the rum flight called their daily drams. Anton, one of the owners, personally sat with us and explained each rum and its history in detail. We were so impressed by his depth of knowledge and very much enjoyed our conversations throughout the night. He also whipped up a delicious drink after I told him my taste preference for cocktails. Cocktails are a little too involved for my liking (I'm a simpleton who doesn't really care for frill) but gave a few a go anyway! Beautiful to look at and decently tasty. Luckily I was with people who make and understand cocktails so they were able to answer any questions I had about ingredients. I'm sure the staff would have done the same. If you don't have an understanding of cocktail ingredients *and* don't feel comfortable asking for guidance, either look elsewhere or use google lol. The staff behind the bar were great. They made our drinks quickly and even assisted in making one of us a run of the mill pina colada (different from the ones they offer. THANK YOU SYLVAN!!!! They use great ice albeit there may be a little too much in some of them. Decor is nice the music relaxing. We sat at the bar so not sure if sound levels in the dining area.
