We started with Drinks. I had the Martini Special for the 4th of July and my husband had a Apple Spritzer made with Champagne. We went out to dinner today for my birthday. We started with the crispy brussel sprouts appetizer. It is sooo good. We had the Pan Seared Chicken which came with Fresh sautéed Green Beans and Polenta. The polenta was served in a square. I liked it that way and it made it easy to dunk in the Mushroom Gravy that came with the Chicken. My Mom had the Pan Seated Chicken too but they accommodated her by making a separate gravy minus the butter and hers was served with Salad & French Fries. We also had the Steak Tacos and a Watermelon Salad which was also delicious. We ended with dessert which was a Rubard Lemon tart and Black Raspberry Ice Cream wth whipped cream and a cherry. We totally enjoyed ourselves. My Moms have been coming to this restaurant for years. They also have a outdoor area behind the main restaurant called The Hill whete they have live music. Food was decent but the prices are wild. We are visiting July 3rd and it is incredibly hot in the restaurant. It has to be like 70-80 degrees in here. We could barely eat the food it was so hot... there was also no air flow and everyone at our table could barely breathe it felt like, hence why it was hard to enjoy anything. I get that there is a heatwave, but we called around to many restaurants who closed down due to the heat so we felt like this was a safe bet. Took around 45 mins to get the food as well. Staff was sweet, but we lost our waitress halfway through which was aggravating. Our food came out and we asked for more drinks (soft drinks) and condiments and she never came back until we hunted her down for the check. Don't think we will be coming back. read more

I had a delightful experience at the Stone House Tavern!!! I ordered the Ahi Tuna and it was sooo delish! I am really not much of a tuna girl because it can be way too fishy sometimes but seriously I gobbled this up... The portion was large I almost didn't finish my potatoes and I take pride in being a clean plate club member so you know that that means that the portion was DECENT! Not only was the tuna good but the cabbage that came with it was really tasty and I want the recipe on how they prepared it... Also the brussel sprouts were awesome my table and I devoured them lol. So glad we found this place! Wanted to find a place that wasn't too far for date night -- and Stone House had a warm and welcoming environment with delicious food. We shared the crispy brussels sprouts as our appetizer, with the aioli but without the peppers. They were excellent -- the sriracha really gave the aioli a pop but didn't make the sprouts too spicy. The serving is very big; we didn't end up finishing them. So would recommend those for more than two people to share. My partner got the pasta bolognese and really enjoyed it. I got the NY strip steak, which was cooked in an au poivre sauce and came with whipped potatoes and string beans. I also requested a side of the horseradish sauce that I'd peeped as part of the steak sandwich -- and HIGHLY recommend adding that in to any beef you order! Cozy tavern with solid tavern/gastropub type food. We were sat in the second room away from the bar which was appreciated because it was quieter and better for conversation. The front room has some tables and the bar and live music. I will say there appeared to be only one server for the entire room and it was o cuisine she was being run ragged trying to accommodate all the tables in the room. There were some people to help expedite food and bring water but they could have definitely used another server to work that room. We were a party of 5 but I have some limitations of what I can eat and they went out of their way to try accommodate me. It was much appreciated! The food was all good with apps of disco fries and roasted Brussels, and entrees of pit roasted, burger, salad, and dried chicken sandwich. All reported their meals were great. The rough hewn timbers on the ceiling and stone fireplace take you back in time. My martini came slighlty dirty as ordered, my bride prefers her cosmo on the sweet side and it was, (great martini glasses also!) The food was amazing. Staff had bad attitude, food delivered in go boxes. They were not very busy yet took us an hour to get our food (steak sandwiches). Whenever out of town guests come to visit, they insist on going to this restaurant. And each time, as hard as I try, I can rarely talk them out of it. I am just not a fan. While the waitstaff is usually friendly and try their best to be accommodating, the apparently poorly managed kitchen seems incapable of completing orders in a timely manner. Last weekend, my family and I visited Kerhonkson, and we stumbled upon the charming Stone House Tavern. Upon entering, we immediately felt super cozy. The Christmas decor was so cute, reminded me of a hallmark movie! They were pretty busy and almost every table was taken, but the hostess was so nice and was able to accommodate our party of 6. The inviting ambiance set the tone, matching the exceptional service. The food was equally delightful. My sister and I both had the bolognese, which was delicious!! We ordered the small, and it was perfect. The portions were very generous. My boyfriend, opted for the meatloaf and devoured it instantly. I highly recommend this great neighborhood spot. My husband is picky and its hard to get him to try new things, so he always goes somewhere and orders wings(lol). Confession - we still are just doing takeout. (Yeah, yeah, Covid started 3 years ago - but despite such caution, we got it for the first time last month, so...). So we VERY much appreciate the restaurants that offer their specials as takeout during the twice-yearly Hudson Valley Restaurant "week" (really 2 weeks). Stone House has had amazing, even extraordinary specials, both veg and non-veg. Given how over the top we've been about the quality of the food and the friendliness when we call, we should have gone over the mountain to get their Thanksgiving takeout...maybe in the future. We almost returned a second time for their olive oil cake, and we should return to try their regular menus - but do make the effort to go during HVRW in March and November. This place definitely did not disappoint. Very friendly staff with a homey feel. Spacious indoor dining area. We felt very safe being away from other customers. Everything we ordered here was pretty good. What really stood out was the crispy Brussels sprouts. Very crispy with loads of flavor. The buttermilk fried chicken sandwich was excellent as well. The chicken was super crispy and went very well with the avocado and the buttery bread. What we didn't like as much was the Buffalo wings. That was just very average and a bit on the dryer side and the rice on the pan seared salmon was a bit hard. They have a few good beer on draft. The sloop juice bomb IPA was excellent. Our server, think his name was Luke was great. Overall a good spot. Definitely recommend coming here if you are in the area! read more

The hostess was absolutely lovely!! Super friendly, warm, and welcoming!! My cucumber basil cocktail was perfection!! The eggplant croquettes were mostly breading and bland. I didn't even taste any eggplant. The shrimp taco appetizer was tasty-but a bit skimpy on the shrimp. I ordered a special burger with pork belly and onion " jam" Pork belly was not served on the burger, instead it was a huge chunk served in the side. Why? It's mentioned as a burger topper. The onion jam? Nope. It was not anything close to an onion jam. Just some crudely sliced, slimy red onion with no flavor at all. The burger was ordered medium rare, but wasn't particularly juicy. Service was excellent. Food was pretty disappointing. I wouldn't go back. Too bad, because the service was great. read more

I'm local but have brought guests to Stone House twice. The food both times was underwhelming. The pork belly on the Stone House Burger was quite bad. The beef brisket sandwich had little spice. Given the crowd size, the wait for entrees was unexpectedly long. Normally I would just move on and not return, but in this case I'll share a bit of the experience I had one one occasions which prompts this review. A companion on one visit was accosted and insulted by a drunken cook who was throwin' 'em back at the bar and apparently couldn't keep a civil tongue around a pretty young woman. Forget me ever coming here again, I'm actively encouraging anyone who asks to skip this place and go literally anywhere else. read more
