Good Day Everyone, This review /compliant is going to be shorter than it should be for a one star review but I just finished writing up a formal complaint to B.A.R. and I don't really feel like going completely through it again. On Dec 18, 2019, I took my vehicle into the shop. It was recommended by the tow truck driver. It had appear as if I blew a coolant hose so no biggie. I was in a huge rush as I was leaving for a wedding the next day and I would have no way to pick up the vehicle. I explained this to the shop and they were very helpful by immediately looking over my vehicle. They informed me that it was a specialty hose that I needed from FORD (this was a true statement) but they could get it in the morning if they ordered now and would still have the vehicle completed before my flight. I thank them and had the work done. They finished late the next morning and I picked up the vehicle. Fast forward to Jan 25, 2019, the vehicle begins to overheat while my wife is driving. She manages to get the vehicle off the road and to a shop. The shop explains the problem and it should very familiar. We again have the work done. I assume that if one coolant hose went bad it isn't surprising that others would go and since it was just a coolant hose not a huge deal. Once this new shop finishes the work they return the old part and it is the same part that So Cal Auto Claimed they replaced. I went to So Cal Auto and asked for a substantial amount of compensation in order settle out of court and without giving them a negative rating on any social media. I also told them a settlement would suffice and I would not need to report to B.A.R. They did not comply hence my review here and if you search the review you will see that this is not the first time they used the 'PARTS SCAM'. read more

I took my car in for an oil change and he had me leave the car there because he was busy, so when I come back, I have extra charges on repairs that I never asked for him to fix. Then he said it's too late to change it back. Why would you even think about changing something that I did not ask for. I'd advise you not to work with this guy. He will scam you with overcharges. I have used this repair company for 20 years. Harry told me he had a truck he could sell me for $14,500. He sent me through Boktor Motors in NoHo to do the financing. They're all shysters. I initially put $1,500 down on it and they worked up the very long contract (a lot of signing) at the correct price of $14,500. Then Harry gets me on the phone while I'm at Boktor Motors and asks me if I can put another couple of thousand on it. I said I could put another thousand, but that was it...so I did. Then, because I changed the down payment, the little snake at Boktor Motors had to rewrite the entire contract, supposedly changing only the down payment. Instead, he changed the sales price and I went through signing many pages of the new contract like they only made the one change...except it wasn't. It was a total scam and Harry's part of it. They marked up the price of the vehicle to $17,988 and I was dumb enough not to read the documents. Don't go through Harry to buy a vehicle....I guarantee there is a scheme plan between Harry and Boktor Motors. I hate writing this because I always liked Harry until now, but he is not to be trusted. read more

I came in and could tell he was BAD BUSINESS. Very rude from the start, and acting very aggressive when asking to leave the car. All that was said was "give me ur keys and leave the car". No extra information. When I told him to call me before he does anything with an estimate of how much it would cost cause I had no idea what he is going to do, he rudely told me "you don't know what you want. Leave, and leave a bad review on Yelp. Goodbye". So here is your bad review you BT. It seems like he didn't want to work with me after I asked him for an estimate before he works on my car. I am suspecting he will add crazy prices that you don't even need when invoicing. TOTAL SKETCH MECHANIC. I will be looking for other honest mechanic now. Harry is amazing! Also the resto of the people working in the shop is really nice, but is Harry that takes care of my cars. I started to go to this shop 3 years ago, when I arrived here in LA and I bought my first car, a Mitsubishi Eclipse GT with some little mods. I'm a fast driver, so my cars need a lot of maintenance. Every time Harry helped me at the best and I was never disappointed. The past September my Eclipse got into a crash (a damn I***T suddenly U turned in front of me with no turning signal in a 55mph zone), I had to buy a new car. Now I own an Infiniti G37S coupe. I gave this business 5 stars because Harry went above and beyond for us. We had our diesel Mercedes towed to Harry and he payed the tow driver as aaa only went so far and we didn't realize at the time. We were able to reimburse Harry and get our car back on the road the next day. He was able to diagnose an issue that others could not. He then fixed it and we were very pleased. The business is professional, clean, timely and fair. The communication was excellent and service was top notch. Unscrupulous! I took my car in early this year for a simple hose repair. I've replace it before myself in 30 minutes but cannot work on cars where I currently live. I asked for an estimate and Harry never would give me a straight answer. They performed the work without giving a price and then dramatically overcharged me. I didn't think it would cost much knowing what was involved. He said it took them all day, which is ridiculous, but perhaps it could if a shop totally sucked. He did make a good effort to be nice, initially, but his true colors & short fuse surfaced when we discussed the price and practices. He tried to BS me a little, but I knew the problem and have repaired it myself previously. Worse yet, his repair lasted less than a day before there was a leak. Terrible. I won't go back even to make them stand behind their poor work. My time is worth more. Yours is as well and hopefully be saved a bit. SoCal auto repair doesn't know how to build a customer base, but then again, they may not care. I was really apprehensive and careful about where to take my car in fear of getting ripped off-- mostly because i'm a girl and I know NOTHING about cars, and also because I've only been in California for about a year and a half and had not found a mechanic yet. I seriously procrastinated taking my car in because I was terrified of getting taken advantage of. I did a some research and was referred to So Cal Auto by a friend. Still skeptical and on a major budget, I called up Harry (owner) and told him the noises my car was making (high screechy sound when I wasn't hitting the breaks). He told me to bring my car in right away- before I wore the break pads down so much that they would have to replace a roter. They took me that very day (literally within 30 minutes of the phone call) and had everything taken care of within 3-4 hours. Turns out, I had been driving on bad break pads for wayyy too long (5 years without replacing them....woops). I ended up needing all four break pads replaced and a roter replaced (yikes! was worried about the bill when he said Roter...). Guess how much my bill was? Only about $400! My father was floored when I called and told him- he said anywhere else it could have cost closer to $600 (if I was lucky). That was about 4 months ago and my car has been running fantastic ever since. They also rotated my tires for me for free while my car was up on the lift. Now I refer ALL my friends to Harry and So Cal Auto. I highly recommend this place!! I live in weho and it's WORTH the drive out to Burbank! read more

Harry and his guys at this place are absolutely fantastic. When my 2003 Isuzu Rodeo failed a smog check for the first time, I took it to L.A. German & Japanese Imports and for the first time in my life, a mechanic told me he wanted nothing to do with repairing my car and turned me away cold (unbelievable... zero stars for that guy!). It turned out to be a real stroke of blind luck that So Cal Auto Repair was only a couple of blocks down the street. Not only were these guys willing to diagnose and repair the engine problems in my old and obsolete car, but they did it honestly and for a fair price, they did it quickly, AND then even cleared up some problems that no previous mechanics have ever been able to resolve. They were super friendly and transparent throughout the entire repair process. Let me tell you how pleased I am with the work they do at So Cal Auto Repair, and how highly I regard them. I may work in Burbank, but I live 25 miles away in Culver City. Even if I should go back to working on the Westside, these are the guys I will continue to bring my car to whenever the need arises, because they really know what they're doing. Don't bother with this place if you have a Diesel truck. I called and Asked if he could replace my fuel filter housing and fuel lines on my 2002 LB7 Duramax. He told me no, he doesn't do that kind of work. Then said, you do it yourself. Very rude over the phone. I would not recommend a Machanic that doesn't know how to use a wrench to remove two bolts and replace two new fuel hoses. read more

I've never met someone in the auto repair industry who is so HONEST, kind, and patient. I came to Harry for a second opinion after being quoted a huge estimate from my BMW dealership for maintenance and repairs. Harry answered all of my questions, explained what actually needed to be fixed on my car, and worked with me on scheduling and pricing. The cost was so much lower than anywhere I've ever been and the work is so high quality! I really appreciate that this company was more interested in treating customers right than making extra profit. My review is not on the work as it was just performed so can't rate yet. it is on the quoted price/final price. Was advised the work would be "$500; probably a little less or a little more". To us a "little" is $20-25. Work is done and go to get car, charged $700. The issue I have is if it is going to be $200 over, they should have called before performing the work to get an OK on the new price. I don't believe its good business to perform the work (even if its good work) and be that far off on the price without having prior authorization to do the work as they would have known up front the cost once ordered the parts and known it was WAY more and not "just a little". read more

So Cal auto was great for a long time, but no longer. We are filing a formal complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair. Work that was claimed to have been done and that we paid for was clearly not done. Six thousand dollars spent and the truck doesn't run. Just one of several examples of fraud: We found out yesterday from our new mechanic that we have an old fuel tank full of rust; it is listed on our So Cal bill as having been replaced twice. read more

My Ford F-250 diesel engine would not start so took my truck to a local mechanic who tried his best to fix it. While I appreciated the effort, I needed the truck fixed so I had it towed to Harry's on a late Friday afternoon.
