I called to have my tree trimmed, and Frank asked to see pictures of it. He could tell the tree was in bad shape. I didn't realize my tree was actually dying because of termites and disease. It was in such bad shape that it was hollowed out in the middle! He made arrangements to come out sooner than the original day/time out of safety concerns. I've had the tree for over 20 years, and the trees been with my home much longer. I was pretty emotional about cutting it down, but Frank reassured me that it the best choice. I live in a townhouse with a tiny "yard." When I first moved in in 2009, my husband and I did some clean up before planting 2 mini fruit trees. This little yard of ours stayed marginally maintained until...a child was born. Then it went downhill from there. Then another child was born, and it went even more downhill. By the summer of 2018, it was a miniature jungle of weeds. The two mini fruit trees became not so little (Home Depot lied about the mini part), and those also desperately needed pruning. So I sent out some feelers last Thursday via Yelp. Frank at SoCal Tree Pros was the first one to respond. He said he'd come by the next day to take a look and give a free estimate. The next day, he arrived when he said he would and gave me a pretty reasonable quote. He said he'd come by later that day and should take about 2 hours to get the job done. Later that day, he called at about the time he said he'd return, and said his previous gig ran late, and due to ridiculous Friday traffic, he wouldn't be able to make it to my house and have enough time to do a good job. Now I appreciated this because I'd rather he come back another day and actually do a good job than rush it and do a half-a** job. We then set up an appointment for Monday. Monday rolls along. He and his crew arrived at my place slightly before the appointment, and they got right to work. I don't know how many trash cans of plant-matter they hauled out, but it's definitely beyond something I can do by myself. 4 hours later, all the weeds are gone. All trees were hand-trimmed--HAND-TRIMMED. The plants are even watered. The yard is cleaner than I've ever seen it. I didn't even know it could be this clean. Thank you, Frank and crew!! My parents have a rental property that has some fruit trees that need trimming and pruning. You bet I am going to contact Frank again for that. read more

Going off of the reviews I read I went with SoCal tree pros. I called and got a hold of Frank. Unexplained to him what I needed done in my yard. First off I had a tree stump removal and second I needed someone to take out these nightmare chinese elm tree roots. Frank was great gave me the days he was free how much it would be and how long it would take. We settled on a week from the day we spoke. Day of Frank arrived at the time he said and quickly got to work, two hours and half later he and his partner were done. They did everything by hand too because all the work was close to sprinklers. Franks very honest and has a lot of experience in what he does he even gave me some advice on taking care of trees. I would give him a call when I need some work later down the line. I highly recommend Frank and his team. I waiting for awhile before I wrote this review since I wanted to make sure everything was okay. Frank was not the cheapest, however I believe no other tree service would have done a better job. They went above and beyond what they quoted me and made me truly happy. They trimmed my avacardo tree and grinded many stubs. After they were done, I wanted a bit more trimming and they came back and trimmed the rest of the tree. The trees are still very beautiful and I am really happy with the work they have done. The only part I am not too happy was the broken sprinklers and pipes. I mentioned this to frank and he told me they were not responsible for anything under the ground. I was a bit upset about this, however I do understand where he is coming from since the pipes were right next to the roots and there was almost no way to not hit it. During the recent high winds in LA, a large tree on my property had uprooted and fallen in the back yard. I searched yelp for local tree services in or around Rancho Cucamonga. Most of the decently rated ones were in OC and none would come out here. So I tried a local (unrated) service and it didn't go well (see my review for Chucks Complete Tree Service). I had to resort to Craigslist and found a few services. The only one that replied promptly and came over immediately to give me an estimate was Frank from 'David and Sons Tree Service'. Frank gave me the same advice as the other (higher priced) professionals had given me, however his quote was substantially less. He said it would cost less to put the tree back up than it would to take it out completely. But recommended taking it out with good reasons on why he thinks so. Similarly, he told me the overgrown mulberry tree taking over my backyard had to be taken out and the roots poisoned - otherwise this species of tree comes back from the leftover roots (this is very true, I'd once cut the tree when it was young and a new one came up from nowhere). He said if I didn't want to poison the roots, he can put oil in the bark - it's slower to kill but more environment friendly. This is what I ended up doing. I accepted Frank's quote, he came over the very next business day and finished the work the same day. I'm very pleased with what he's done. He also took out a palm tree. It was a California palm that I hadn't planted. Again, came out of nowhere... but was already 20 feet tall. He said the seeds come from the birds and that the tree can get to 80 ft tall. I asked him to remove that too. All these trees were at the boundaries (few feet from the fence) of my backyard and I was concerned that tree limbs will fall into my neighbors yard or that it will fall on the fence and break it. But they did it very professionally - nothing fell outside my property so they never had to go into the neighbors yard to cleanup. From the trees he removed, he cut the trunk into firewood so I can use in my outdoor fireplace. The rest, he hauled away at no extra cost. Also cleaned up the yard so there were no leaves or branches lying around. You could never tell that there used to be 3 extra trees in the backyard. I'm so pleased with the service, I'm having him prune trees at my other property as well. PS: He did say he was licensed and bonded but I never verified it. read more

I've used Frank and his helper or small crew 3 times now: first time to bring some color in my front yard with hummingbird appeally plants; the second time to add more, and check my sprinklers, and fertilize; and last week he and a helper trimmed seven trees, beautifully, and got rid of some plants I didn't want, and moved a few. He thinned my way overgrown grapefruit tree. I came home and saw fruit, branches and leaves everywhere, as he worked up high,deep in the tree. Frank came out to our property right away and gave us a quote on two of our 53 year old trees and offered suggestions on trimming and cleaning a few more. His prices were reasonable and his work was fantastic. Frank and his crew were the hardest working guys I've ever seen. They were also very caring and humane when finding bird nests in the trees we were cutting down. Frank and his crew know how to cut trees down with no damage to your property. We watched how precise they were at cutting heavy branches down by carefully lowering the branch gently to the ground as not to allow the branches to hit the roof or come close to a window. They also cleaned up the whole yard including all the leaves that landed on the roof. He grinded down each stump, covering nearby windows, so that the wood chips would not hit the window. In addition, Frank and his crew speak English, so there is no problem trying to communicate your instructions.
