DO NOT BOOK. This is by far some of the WORST customer service I have ever received. I have never left a negative Yelp review until today. The email and text exchanges were rude, unhelpful, and quite frankly unprofessional. After hearing that San Diego county was heading back into the purple COVID tier, our group felt that the safest option would be to cancel our pedal tavern. According to SD guidelines we would be unable to stop at a bar without ordering food. This seemed excessive and the whole premise just seemed unsafe. We tried cancelling on MULTIPLE occasions with plenty of time beforehand. There was 0 understanding on Social Cycle's side and the employee seemed more concerned with their business than the safety of others. I cannot support a company that is not understanding or helpful. I scheduled this for a team building activity for a group of 16 sales trainers located throughout the country who came in town for a meeting in our corporate office in San Diego, CA. This was so much fun! I am a local San Diegan and enjoyed exploring the city via Social Cycle and have our wonderful leader from Social Cycle, Justin Hartley explain where were headed, point out fun landmarks, etc. Justin was so great. He and I stayed in touch before the event via text and during the event he did a pulse check to see how we were all feeling during the ride. As an added bonus, we created a playlist for the event and enjoyed it while we travel throughout the city. Such fun! I will DEFINITELY do this again and HIGHLY recommend. read more

The worst party bike company I had ever had to deal with. As a paying customer who paid for this ride, I never leave bad reviews but this is something that others should know about. We booked a bike for our friends birthday in Little Italy. We show up and we are told by our driver that the motor had gone out on the last ride and that he couldn't find anywhere to fix it. They did not even call to let us know about this situation before we got there either. So we show up and hear the news. He said it would not be a problem but that we would have to pedal a little more to actual have the thing move. Little did we know that we would be going up hill and having to literally do a workout and have to stand up to pedal this bike uphill. There was only 8 girls, who had been drinking, on the bike and it was almost impossible to get up this hill. Then at one point our driver had to help us pedal in one of the seats so we would be able to make it. This was all happening while one of the paying customers was driving the bike which is illegal and we have video proof of this. During our ride at one the stops we tried to connect with the owner to make her aware of the situation. She was not able to return our phone call and instead was very rude over text stating that every person signed that they were capable to pedal. We are all very capable of pedaling and have done party bikes before on flat roads and not one that was going up and down hills, I would like to see her do what we had to do. Meanwhile she was texting and screen shot our driver the conversation, that we had texted her about the motor being out, asking if he had told us that there was a motor on the bike and proceeding to get mad at him. I will not say what our driver had to say about that and the way they are treated. Our driver was great and tried to make the best out of the situation but I feel very bad for him having to work under someone who does not take ownership of a problem that happened on one of her bikes, that us as paying customers were trying to talk to her about. The ride was not enjoyable at all and she said she would call us to discuss the situation and never did. DO NOT waste your time money with this company go elsewhere. read more

Pedal pedal pedal... Or you're not going anywhere! One of our friends in San Diego heard about Social Cycle and we had to try it for my friends bachelorette party. This is where you pedal a non-motorized trolley around the gaslamp of San Diego. When I say the gaslamp district let me be clear by saying all the streets where the bars and clubs are located. Party town! I was first excited to hear we were going on a party bus but when I heard we actually had to do some work, like pedal, I wasn't sure how much I was going to like it especially because I had on really high heels. The cool thing was this trolley fits 14 people and on the back end of the Trolley there are two seats or possibly three, where people can sit and you don't have to pedal. I got lucky and got one of the seats by the bachelorette. This party bus brings you to three different bars over the course of two hours. The bars give you discounts on their drinks for being on this party bus! I love that the tour guide let us play our music by hooking up our phone to the trolley. This is perfect for people that are partying because they can get wasted and not worry about driving. You get to ride around town and interact with everyone in the streets. This party bus moves very slow unless you have very fast peddlers, but if your drinking I wouldn't count on this bus moving very fast! We had a blast! read more

Laura nitpicking my review because she's in her feelings isn't great customer service. If she had reading comprehension skills she wouldn't noted that I said it wasn't my plan. I didn't book it. I showed up for a group event organized by someone else. Parking being free until shortly after my review in the current situation changes nothing about my point. So now again, you're paying to go down there, paying to park, paying for the same hard pizza slice under your ass as I mentioned. Again, the Captain and the bike are cool, but it's the Uber you pay for and have to power yourself, and again the time constraints will mean you won't get to all your stops if service is slow at any of them. None of Laura's complaints about my review change what the experience was. Or the basic facts. I've got plenty of compassion for businesses. Especially ones that are useful and well run. It's an uncomfortable seat, you pay a lot for a ride that might end up going to one or two stops depending on service, and you cannot have alcohol on it (by law since she thinks I'd be incapable of understand that, rather than understanding that the people who booked it weren't clear on the details and the bar tap on the bike could be misleading ‍ plus you can drink in Airstreams/limos/party buses and other vehicles that go on the road if they're stopped and/or licensed a certain way). read more

Dope, dope and dope!! Came down from LA for some weekend fun with my old college friends. The social cycle was the perfect choice for an activity. Majid was an awesome guide and really knows how to blend in with the groups.. its as if he was a part of the party as well. Visited 3 different bars during our cycling tour. Option to play music while riding. The other party that we rode with were very cool and we all partied with some good music and drinks.. overall a great time and I highly recommend this for anyone in a group looking for an icebreaker event or just an excuse to drink. read more

It's very much a fad. Do it if you are bored but not as fun as we thought. No drinking onboard and very little time spent on it. No actual tour of any kind except a fancy pub crawl. Fun once but not worth the full price. We got it at half and it was okay. We were on those things for at most 10 min each time before we were dropped at a pub. Half of the time the pub didn't know what special to give us as part of social cycle. We did meet some cool people. Spent about 90 min total at 3 different pubs and about 30 min on the cycle over 4 segments. Music was good. Meeting place was a bit seedy and you are required to go back there so need to uber to and from there. Would I recommend it? At half price. Yes on a weekday night since we were bored. read more

I had some out of state friends coming in for a long weekend and we were looking for something fun and new to try. Saw these guys on Living social and decided to give them a try. I called to check availability and was happy to hear the date and time we needed was still available and I was given a coupon code to book directly with them instead of purchasing thru Living Social, that was nice and convenient :-) We had a tiny bit of trouble finding the building because there was the name of another business on the front of the building instead of theirs but we did find it in time. We were a little worried that the bike was only powered by the pedal power of the guests but soon discovered that it wasn't really that bad and the fun we were having more than made up for it!!! Our captain was very fun and easy going. We were able to hook one our phones up to their sound system so that we could play the music we wanted while we traveled thru town. I think we spent some of our bar time singing and dancing on our bike while it was parked because we were having such a great time. He had a list of bars to take us too with drink and food specials at all of them...some great deals I might add!!! Very accommodating. Arrived on time. I asked them to just take the lead and take us to any bar. The bars we visited were fun and had an awesome vibe. We went Comic Con weekend and they took us around to the main part to see all the commotion and they even reminded us of the Zombie walk after. The drivers were so fun and definitely made our experience 10x more amazing. we rented 2 buses for 2.5 hours it came out to be $1,000.00. totally worth it. We had 28 people we were able to visit 3 breweries. 2 hours is good but 2.5 is perfect. Everyone had so much fun definitely not your normal experience. I suggest to bring snacks/food on board ppl get hungry. and take lots of pics because it will totally give you withdrawals for a week. The only thing is they said our wristbands gave us drink specials at the bars we went to but the bartenders had no idea what it even was. We ended up not getting any discounts. I think better clarification on that part (what to say to the bartenders) would be great at the beginning of the ride. I would like to thank Laura our captain for an amazing time this past Saturday! My friend and i Came down to San Diego to celebrate my 21st birthday so we did the Downtown tour. Neither of us have really taken the time to expand from our comfort zone of a few drinks and figured this was thee time go do it! Our Captain was very knowledgeable about what the drink specials were at the bars that we stopped at so those recommendations came in handy! There were two other groups there(bachelorette parties) and everyone was super nice and became friends for the tour. I also enjoyed the sound system on the cycle. Nobody brought a playlist so we just played Pandora and blasted the music as loud as possible to have a great time. I purchased a groupon for this trip and made a mistake when I booked through the Socialcyclesd.com website so I actually was over charged. Our guide was 45 min late, making our party late for the subsequent dinner (we had reservations). Unacceptable! Secondly, two of the bars that Social Cycle supposedly has relationships with didn't even know what we were doing there or if a discount applied? We were a bachelorette party of 14 girls flying in from Dallas. Laura was amazing to work with. She answered all my questions and followed up with us. We decided last minute to do it, and she got us set-up with Justin as our captain. We did the Gaslamp District tour from 4p-6p on a Friday, so it was sunny at first then got dark towards the end of our ride. It was hilarious to see us all struggle bc the trolley is pretty heavy, but a lot of cars and crowds honked and cheered at us as we went through the streets jamming to loud music. We stopped at Basic Bar & Bootlegger, only got 1 drink at each place. It was a fun idea, but I would recommend pre-drinking more before you start the ride, 1 drink at each bar sobered up quickly when you had to focus on pedaling. So Pam was our driver and she was AWESOME! WE went on this adventure for my husband's birthday and it was a blast. We loved Pam and that she was so helpful! She would help remind us what time we had to leave one bar to go to the next, she would motivate us to peddle faster, and she was just generally really cool. I recommend this to anyone wanting to try something new! It was SO FUN! The stops were fun and we loved our route. We did the North Park, Normal Heights, South Park route and it was really fun. It's like parading your drunk ass down the street while holding up traffic. When can you do that legally? You can plug in your own music and sing your heart out to the song. We did 90's stuff and the people on the street loved it. The cars, not so much. One thing to keep in mind is that some cities don't allow you to drink on the bike, which can be a major turn off. San Diego is one of them, so realistically you don't spend that much time on the bike, maybe 25-30 minutes for a 2 hour tour. You bike a block or two to the next bar and you get out. Plus, the biking is hard work, especially if you are short. If you're under 5'4", your legs don't really reach the pedal so you end up jamming your butt into the seat just so you can reach it. Also the bike is really tall, so make sure you wear pants or shorts so you can climb. The other group biking with us didn't do much of the peddling so that can also cause some tensions. Overall it was still fun, but keep in mind the struggle and the limitation of drinking in the city. read more

We were all surprised at the amount of work involved keeping the bike moving, I now appreciate the fact that downtown is on a slight incline going north up the numbered streets from convention center toward Broadway! Good drink specials lined up for Social Cyclers at a variety if bars. Most offered happy hour pricing and one had a special dollar shot. When/where to stop is entirely up to the participants. Bring some tunes as they are wired for sound using an aux/headphone jack. You will be seen, people take pix of the bike everywhere you go. Due to Calif state law the tap on board is purely ornamental but after the experience drinking and pedaling at the same time may prove to be a bit difficult. read more

Planned a getaway. I was a little skeptical about the group we'd end up w/it only being 2 of us. (We don't have SC in LA so . . . ) We arrived a few min before the tour commenced w/ our waivers signed! (Do it via email attch!) We were set up with a fun & excited group. There was a bachelorette & a small group of friends plus beau & I. We were all given wristbands that give us deals at participating bars all night not just during our SC experience. [SWEET] PSA: you can't drink on the bike (frowned upon in SF; don't ruin your tour.)! but there are cup holders to stay hydrated & a rack overhead for your belongings. The groups that arrived before us already had an idea of where they wanted to stop by, Billy our fantastic energetic guide steered us in the direction of his choice Kimpton's fab roof top bar Upper East which I loved, great trendy vibes. It was V quiet until we arrived, they had games and we had our drinks for the first 30 min, of our SC experience we then headed to the partner bar w/ the best Social Cycle drink deals and had a few drinks. Before ending up at a tons of fun bar (at that point it could've been the alcohol) w/ great music & Where our tour ended, headed back to our meeting point after we all took a BJ shot. The experience all together was great, the pedaling to the sound of our aux connected tunes while a bit intoxicated was a cool experience, with our guide Billy topping it off by taking us to some great spots where we had tons of fun, we only made it to 3 bars I'm sure you'd be able to do more if you're time savvy but I was more than satisfied with our lit experience and would probably do it again at a later time we did the 3pm time slot. The atmosphere as your pedaling across DT SD was really a fun part of the tour. The pedaling wasn't as difficult or tiring as I thought it'd be but there will be times when you really have to pedal (not exhausting) & by the end we all had a good buzz still going!
