Social Goods is awesome and it has it all. High end local grocery, toy store, and wine lockers? Score! It's an awesome addition to Newberg and the owners are lovely. We got a 6 case wine locker and paid for a year- it's climate controlled and there is a members area to enjoy wine. In the future they will be offering classes. This place has amazing vibes. Part of Newberg's quaint downtown, on sunny days the front of the restaurant opens to the fresh air and the sun. They have regular trivia nights. Kids are enthusiastically welcomed and part of the restaurant has toys and games to play or to buy. One side of the place is covered with coolers in which they display an amazing variety of beers, soft drinks and bottled waters from around the world. The sommelier can arrange wine tastings and they have a complete wine locker on site. They do bike tours--especially check out the tour that focuses on wine tasting at local vineyards and wineries. Live music most weekends and several televisions to watch sports events. A Timbers pub partner (season ticket holders!) The main show is their bar with somewhere around 30 microbrews especially from local breweries. They even brew their own options. A limited but creative bar menu includes wood-fired pizza, exotic bread sticks, great salads soups and sandwiches. What is not to like? honestly? read more

This place is trying to do everything, but nothing well. It's a bike shop, brewery, wine shop, toy store, and cafe! I can only comment on the food though. I came for their Sunday brunch and I will not be going again. I got an avocado toast for $9.50. I was expecting and hoping for something hardy. Instead I got a slice of sandwich bread from the grocery store, brown avocado thinly spread, a small amount of micro greens and a thin slice of tomato. Literally I had all of these ingredients at home already and come to this place instead for something SO lackluster. What I would expect is a thick slice of bakery quality bread, thick green avo and lots of toppings. I will not be going back cuz I don't want to waste on money again on a place that skims. I'm a big fan of their beer selection and the vibe of the place, so we decided to try their food. We each ordered a Detroit Style Pizza. We had a pretty long wait, long enough that we had to switch to a to go order as they were gearing up for a trivia night and we were going to lose our table. The pizza didn't remotely look like a DSP, none of the trademark crispy edges. Just like a thick blob of dough was cooked without a shaping pan. The Margherita pizza had huge thick slices of uncooked tomato on it, and both of them had raw dough inside. My wife deemed hers totally inedible. Very disappointing as we were hoping it could be a regular hangout. I'll still stop by for a beer pickup, but steering clear of the food. read more

Ordered a Caesar salad ($16), caprese salad ($18), and a chicken bacon ranch pizza ($41). Was happy to pay that much, thinking these were larger portions and I'd have enough for leftovers. I was given a Caesar salad that looked like it was a half portion out of a $4 bag, four slices of mozzarella with four slices of tomato, and six slices of pizza. Absolute highway robbery. On our way back from wine-tasting in Dundee, we swung by this shop because it looks interesting and some friends had told us about it. I was shocked by how much was going on in one place! You have a bar that serves regular and craft beers on tap and numerous coolers that contain teas, Kombucha teas, craft beers, juices and many more chilled drinks for sale. There are a ton of large tables for groups to gather and have drinks (alcohol and non-alcohol) while they eat yummy sandwiches from the sandwich bar - from gourmet grilled cheese to grilled cheese with pesto to peanut butter and jelly. Upstairs is a massive toy store and also a sitting area for birthday parties as well as a giant blown up bouncy house-slide. This is the kind of place that the whole family can enjoy on a Saturday night - and there were. There were adults hanging out eating and drinking while the kids played upstairs. Not bad for a small town! Actually; it's also a great idea for a big town. It'd be awesome if a Social Goods would open up in Portland so my friends with kids could finally go out without having to pay $15/hr for a sitter - or - would no longer have an excuse not to go out! THE BEST BEER SPOT IN NEWBERG. Great line up for beer nerds. Take a growler can to go. The owner knows her beer, and her husband and small kiddos are super nice. She is getting the business started up, so I am excited to see what she'll have in store for the future. I liked the fridge and shelf line up she had going and I'd like to see more of it. Family friendly. Upstairs area for kids. The thing I like the most is that she let a Girl Scout sell cookies in her shop. It was adorable. So here I was: Beer and Girl Scout cookie tasting. She seems to care about community, customers, and feedback. Just give it a try. It's unlike anything you've tried, and the shop is not designed to make major profits from visitors. If you give this nice place a shot, CHEERS, from me. Oof. I wanted to like this place, but the country music blaring when we walked in should have served as a warning because it just went downhill from there. I honestly don't know the last time I heard "Achey Breaky Heart" played over a sound system. Two starts stick because they have a great little selection of brews and wines. That was so fun to peruse and I walked out with a couple of bottles I had been wanting to try. The other start because it was clean...? I don't know. The food is basically what one would eat in order to survive. We had a pizza and chips and salsa. It was Pace salsa and generic chips. The pizza was terrible and completely lacking in flavor. The crust was floppy and undercooked. The two women working were not super attentive. We had to ask for our chips and salsa because I guess they were going to bring them out with the pizza??? No one ever told us where to find the water or napkins. Don't even get me started on the racing toddlers upstairs or the weird blue tarp over the skylight or the fact that there was no one to be found when I was ready to check out. Just skip this place UNLESS you're looking for a 6-pack or a nice bottle of wine to take home. read more

Social Goods is top notch! If you like beer, this is a great place to try lots of different kinds. Danny and Robin see the tap menu with lots of variety (dark beers, light beers, IPAs, ciders, creative beers, hard seltzers on tap) and they rotate frequently enough to come again and again and always have something new. If you could ever think of a bar as "family friendly," this is the place. Some friends and I come almost every Thursday for trivia and while we never really compete or know very much, the environment here always encourages us to laugh loudly, have good conversations and drink excellent beer-- and non-alcoholic drinks, too. Thursday nights at Social Goods are something that I look forward to the whole week. I've hosted events in the mezzanine upstairs and they were easy to work with, flexible, and excellent hosts. I couldn't recommend Social Goods enough. Don't come here if you're against good times, good beer, and good spaces. read more

Here enjoying our honeymoon, we stopped by this place on a whim and it lead to a great experience! Fun, specialty, food/wine centric gifts were fun to browse through and pick for our wedding party. Robin was a delight and great informant on the areas best tasting rooms. She connected us with a few gems on our route so we could try the best in the area. She's also open on Monday, when not a lot else is! I recommend perusing the wine and coffee selection and snagging a few bottles for a great price. I wish every little city had a place like Social Goods! A great, warm environment to hangout, have a drink (32 taps I think) and socialize. There's an AWESOME kids play area upstairs that you can bring your kids to and even rent it out for parties. They have great weekly events like Trivia night and a very cool mug club as well. One of my favorite restaurants. The owners are heavily involved in the daily operations and are the kindest people. I am a regular and at one point had a medical issue that required I wear a neck brace, which was highly uncomfortable. The owner swooped in and prepared a table for me that she felt would be the most comfortable. I will never forget that kindness. Other than having the best owners, Social Goods has a great menu of beer on tap, beer to go, they host live music, support the community...lots of reasons to make this your favorite place. read more

I've been a customer here for several years now and I don't have enough great things to say about the quality of service, options for cider, beer & wine, and now their expanded food menu! My latest visit to Social goods really blew me away! I was taking a friend out to celebrate a huge accomplishment and when we arrived, they carried a table and personal heater outside, because of covid restrictions limiting us to outdoor dining, and roped off our dining area and brought us tea lights to use as hand warmers. I casually mentioned we were celebrating and very grateful they accommodated us outside. As they brought out our drinks and food a few minutes later, they also surprised us with some bubbly to make the visit extra special! They go above and beyond to treat their guests like family and make ordinary moments extraordinary! read more

After being lied to by Ruddick/Wood, we brought our group of 10 here and had a very nice time. The owner came over an spend a few minutes making sure we were good; and told some jokes. We will be back, as far as I'm concerned this is our go to spot for our next 5-6 residencies. Good beer, good food, and very nice people; what else could you ask for? We were happy to spend our money there. When I come to Newberg, I'll be sure to stop in this place; they know how to treat customers. The prices weren't exactly cheap ($7 per pint for IPA) but considering the kids played for free, the price was definitely reasonable. This place is amazing!! It recently had a huge makeover and the outcome is awesome. Also, it is a completely BRILLIANT business concept to have a kids' play area while adults can lounge around the parameter of the playroom enjoying a drink. Almost as good as a real date night. ;) The owner, Robin, is so sweet and pours her soul into making this place nice. She is great at listening to the community and trying to cater to what she hears the public wants. It is such a shame when occasionally some kids will abuse the privilege of having a play area and will trash it without cleaning it--that completely ruins it for everyone else because then the business understandably gets hesitant about letting kids use it again. Parents should be held accountable for being responsible for their children. I only wish SG would open earlier and have a full time morning barista working as well. Moms who meet here for play dates don't always want an alcoholic drink or cold brew coffee. I would dare to guess a lot of us want REAL coffee. Otherwise, I love this place and am happy to support them! read more
